I’m sure Dr. Rydzik is competent. but I have found that she likes to encourage more procedures than necessary, or affordable. She took 2 biopsies on my face, (which I thought were being frozen off,) as I was trying to tell her they were just little bumps.(which they were.) I now have 2 ugly scars on my face thanks to her invasive procedures.

I recently visited Dr. Gasch as a first time patient. I had concerns about a possible mole on my nose. Skin cancer is prevalent in my family so I was prepared for bad news.
Dr. Gasch came in to the examining room and was delightful. He was refreshing and certainly didn’t scare me about my moles. It turned out the mole on my nose was not a mole but something else and he did the freezing spray thing on it. He prepared me for what to expect as it healed. He checked my other moles and sent me on my way as healthy with no suspect moles.
I never had the impression he was interested in my moles as a way to make money. The only impression I had was that he was invested in how I felt and wanted to provide the best customer/​doctor service he could.
I am now a committed patient of his. Thank you Dr. Gasch!

I go to see Andrea for laser scar treatment and she is great. She is always so thorough and fun to talk to. I am almost always seen fast and checkout with ease. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a great experience and care.

First visit today. This office came highly recommended to me by my husband and a coworker. I thought I was happy with my current dermatologist but thought I would give it a try. OMG-​Dr. Rydzik is a gem. She was a little behind with the patient before me but her assistant explained this to me and Dr. Rydzik spent a good amount of time with me. I didn’t feel rushed or cheated because of that previous patient. I had been asking my previous doctor about Rosacea and I don’t think she ever listened. What I like about this office is that they are willing to listen, to try new things, and pay attention to the patient. I have nothing bad whatsoever to say. From the moment I walked in the door until I left I felt like their only patient. Front office (two women) were fantastic and acknowledged everyone that came through that door. Then her assistant, Carrie was so professional, helpful, spent time with me, thoroughly explained everything, and then Dr. Rydzik.-so kind and thorough. Time will tell but so far 150% satisfied. Only down side to this office (or any office located there) is St. V’s parking garage-​come on people be patient or allow yourself more time-​such angry people driving through there. Peace.

From Liz, the Medical Assistant, to Patrick, the Laser Tech, and of course Dr. Rydzik herself, I’ve never had a better experience in a Dermatology practice.
If you have psoriasis you know that a lot of practices push biologic meds wether you need/​want them. I’ve never felt pushed here. Not for biologics or for any other medication. Dr. Rydzik is really great at listening and explaining all the alternatives.
Also, the new office has an ever nicer view than the other building!
PS: I want to clarify something for the people complaining about billing issues. I’ve never experienced billing concerns in this practice. I am lucky to have great health insurance, but as you can see from my check-​ins, I use it a lot (unfortunately).
I’ve find that ⁹⁄₁₀ times when I’ve had billing issues with other medical practices, the issues emerged with my insurer not processing the claim correctly. Calling the insurer and having them re-​process the claim (sometimes even more than once) resolves the issue.
Regarding deductibles: Most insurances have a year deductible to meet. If you don’t use your insurance much, it might come up as a surprise. When you go to any practice they provide you with their billing practices that you sign and agree (always read it in detail and ask for a copy when in doubt).
And something to have in mind… the more you know about your insurance’s charges, the better armed you are when they overcharge you. Most info can be found on their website (they usually provide a login so you can track claims… USE IT!)

I have seen Dr. Gasch again for my annual skin check — which I never felt the need to do until my first visit with him a year or two ago. Still love this place!

I have been taking my son here for the past few months to see Dr.Gasch. He asked a lot of questions, evaluated my son’s skin and found the best solution for his needs. I’m happy to report that my teen’s skin is clearing up, his self esteem has improved and I am very happy to have found a great dermatologist that my teen is happy to go to! We had to wait a few weeks for our initial appointment but it was worth it.

Despite some questionable review on Unilocal,I thought I’d give this practice a chance since they’d received a decent amount of positive reviews from people and I needed to find a new dermatologist in the area as I seemed to be suffering from a combo of rosacea and acne combined, which had been going on for awhile.
The doctor I saw was Dr. Joseph Welch. Relatively speaking a decent doctor, though can be a bit short at times. He ended up prescribing me several topical medicines to use at once, and told me to come back about a month later.
Started using the prescriptions and pretty quickly things started to go very wrong. I ended up breaking it out in a horrible rash and the office squeezed me into an emergency appointment with the doctor to get it resolved. He ended up taking me off pretty much everything he’d put me on, and put me on oral antibiotics for about a week to calm everything down.
When I left that appt I went to the front desk and asked if I needed to pay a co-​pay for the last visit. They told me I did not. I asked them if they were absolutely sure (that’s me asking them twice), they said, nope, I was good. And I could leave.
Due to my insurance plan, I had a deductible to pay. I paid one of the bills, and then spoke to one of the front desk people about the second bill. They told me I only needed to pay $ 80-​something dollars. That the rest of the bill had already been taken care of, and that what I had received in the mail was a mistake. Okay. Went ahead and paid that.
I then get a call from the billing dept. a few weeks later saying I owed a balance from the second deductible payment. I told them what the front desk had told me and they said, oh… they made a mistake. Don’t listen to them. You actually still owe more on the bill. I was annoyed, but it wasn’t that much more extra to pay, so I said fine. Here’s my card number to charge it to. Then they told me I owed a co-​pay on the last visit. And that’s when they crossed the line for me.
I told them I specifically asked the front desk if I owed a co-​pay. Asked them TWICE. They told me no. If they made a mistake that’s the second mistake they made, and I shouldn’t be paying a co-​pay for an appt. to correct mistakes the doctor had made anyway. The billing assistant told me that she would ask the doctors if they could make an exception. She called me back a few days later and said the doctors said I needed to pay it. I became livid, explained to her one more time why this was so incredibly unfair, and she said she would ask again.
Then I got a call from another billing agent today (after almost a month of not hearing from them) saying I owed the co-​pay. I called out that they basically have lied me to twice now. First time they told me I didn’t owe any more on the balance. The second time they told me I didn’t owe a co-​pay, and each time, it turns out it had been a «mistake by the front desk».
I STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU NEVER COME TO THIS PRACTICE. EVER. The doctor caused me to break out in a terrible rash, and still made me responsible for having it corrected. And the front desk is apparently absolutely inept at providing correct information to their patients. And their billing department has zero consideration for the situation of their patients when the doctors have screwed up.

Wanting to find a dermatologist closer than OHSU I thought I would give Dr. Ryzdik a try. First she told me that she didn’t think she could treat my rare skin condition and that I should stay at OHSU. She then told me that she thought I had a potentially fatal autoimmune disorder and wanted to put me on strong medications and finally offered me a cream. When I asked her about cost, she claimed she had no idea.
The generic was $ 600+ a tube.
I went to see my doctor at OHSU and told her about my visit. She said the cream wouldn’t help, that I defiantly don’t have the condition Dr. Ryzdik mentioned and not to take the powerful drug she wanted to prescribe. In fact that doctor actually laughed when I told her about my visit to Ryzdik.
She billed $ 373 for that?
I think this office is more for cosmetic than medical dermatology.

Feeling rushed at doc. appointments is a huge pet peeve of mine so I was really glad that wasn’t my experience at Center Derm. Dr. Welch hooked me up with plenty of free samples and seemed genuinely interested in getting me reasonably priced meds too.

I did not enjoy my appointment here. First they sent in a want to be dr who was very nervous. She asked me lots of questions but didn’t listen to my answers, and then asked them all again. Dr Raysic was an hour late. She smelled like garlic and Bo. I have never in 52 years remember a dr smelling like anything. Made me think that she was late because she was out to lunch. She stood way too close to me. I found her manner very irritating. I did like her assistant and found her to be the only professional and normal person there. Will not be going back. Ever.

Cancer Surgery Scarring and Acne Scar Repair
It was recommended that I see Dr. Gasch and his team for help with my scarring left behind from a cancer surgery I had a year earlier along with acne scarring on my cheek (the sort that dip inward). So I made my appointment, which turned out to be the help I desperately needed.
From the moment I walked into the office the staff there welcomed me, I didn’t have to wait long to be called back. Soon after his awesome assistant came in and asked me some questions; I was surprised to see that she actually was listening to my concerns and me. After a brief moment Dr. Gasch came in and evaluated my scars, and was very empathetic to my situation, unlike my previous experiences specialists. He listened to how the scars impacted my life and assured me he would help make them better.
Next thing I knew I was having laser treatment to the scarred areas and then injections to decrease the scarring tissue that was raised on my neck. He then used filler to raise the acne dip. Almost instantly the acne scars were all gone, and within a week gone all together. My cancer scars are almost nonexistent and continue to degrees in height and size. I finally don’t have to look in the mirror and see the trauma of my past. Thank you Dr. Gasch and everyone at The Center for Dermatology & Laser Surgery for changing the way I feel.

I have been a patient of Dr. Gasch’s for several years. I grew up in Australia and was a typical sun worshiper spending hours basking in the sun with little to no protection. As a result I ended up with quite a bit of sun damage on my face as well as my back, shoulders, arms and chest. I underwent laser procedures at Center for Dermatology and Laser to reverse and remove the sun damage done and have been extremely satisfied with the results. The cosmetic team is fantastic! Skilled in lasers, peels, microderms, all of the procedures available to help you get that glow back to your skin. I would certainly recommend Dr. Gasch and his staff for all of your dermatology needs.

I like Dr. Gasch quite a bit, and have been seeing him for nearly 2 years since my insurance changed and I had to switch dermatologists. He’s very personable and engaged, listens to my concerns and preferences, and works with me when it comes to alternate approaches and medications as I don’t have much money and I’m super sensitive to medication side-​effects.
Initially I had recurrent, frustrating problems with some of the staff (medical assistants and reception) but I liked Dr. Gasch enough that I didn’t want to leave the clinic, so I spoke to a nurse (Erin, RN or LPN) who was very receptive and she notified the office manager who contacted me pronto. The ofc mgr was also highly receptive and agreed that the «issues» were unacceptable (lack of and mis-​communications, sometimes unprofessional attitudes), and assured me the doctors would be notified and together they would work on the problems. My most recent visit was great, and the medical assistant (Jarrett) was terrific — all the previous problems seem to have been resolved. I really appreciate this kind of response to patient feedback.
Dr. Gasch took me off of a dangerous medication that was no longer necessary and replaced it with a couple of others, AND now my skin is in the best condition it’s ever been in — finally in my early 50’s, I’m starting to like my skin! And that is due to Dr. Gasch’s treatment.

Dr. Gasch performed the wrong test on me!
I was referred to him by my doctor, to be tested for yeast. He said that he was doing a yeast test, however when the test results came back he had tested me for bacteria, not yeast.
It seemed all he wanted to talk about was moles, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s making his living removing moles for no reason.
The worst part is that I have to have to pay out of pocket for this test. I called and spoke to someone in his billing, she said to write a letter explaining what happened. I never heard back but they are still sending me bills. I have called his office and left numerous messages, my calls were never returned.

A month or so ago I saw Dr. Gasch and he was nice and helpful, and he wanted to remove a mole on my toe that was suspicious. I was hesitant to do so because it had been there and looking the same for a while, but he insisted and I’m not one to be unafraid of possible cancer. He removed it he ended up having to dig deeper. Everything seemed okay, but when the numbness wore off I noticed that it was quite painful to move my toe at all, which meant it hurt to walk and I limped very noticeably. This lasted for more than two weeks, and it prevented me from doing many things that I normally love to do in the summer. I talked with several other people who had had moles removed and no one had an experience remotely close to this, and they suggested that perhaps I had suffered some nerve damage. It really seemed like Dr. Gash had gone too far or done something wrong, and I couldn’t do anything about it.
Then I got the bill. Even after my insurance I was charged almost $ 250 for something I didn’t really want, that was a horrible experience and it certainly seemed like a mistake had been made. I also began to think that removing moles may be a lucrative business model because it’s a pretty simple thing to do and patients are afraid and listen to doctors.
I emailed and called them about my experience and got nowhere. They were unwilling to do anything for me, and their office manager didn’t even respond to my emails. If I do ever hear back from them I will edit this review. I hope one day they realize that a very dissatisfied patient costs them much more than refunding them what they paid out of pocket.

I went in to see Dr. Gasch last summer to have him examine my scalp and some itchy bumps on my arm. He was very professional and friendly, and immediately put me at ease. He corrected both of the problems and I was very happy with the customer service I received from both he and his staff. The office was very modern and the waiting room is spacious and nicely decorated. I have recommended the Center For Dermatology & Laser Surgery to all of my friends and family.

I saw Dr. Gasch a few years back because of a skin issue. I first went to the Hillsboro office because that’s where they could fit me in the earliest which was no problem for me. I’m willing to travel for great medical service! Within the first few visits my skin issue and the causes were diagnosed by Dr. Gasch and his friendly staff! The Hillsboro office shares its space with another practice, but was clean and well managed. The St. Vincent location is beautiful and clean! They offer cosmetic services, too! I really wished I had gone in sooner. I wouldn’t have got my laser hair removal where I had gone originally if I had known there was a better and less expensive option!

I found this dermatology office in the Gay and Lesbian Yellow Pages (family first right?). It was easy to become a new patient, and I didn’t have to wait long for an appointment that fit my schedule.
When I arrived, there was free parking, which is always a plus. It was easy to find within the hospital, and the décor was great.
Everyone was friendly, and even gave me compliments on my hair. Really can’t go wrong with flattery.
I have NEVER been seen so quickly at any Dr’s office. They were right on time, and I didn’t have to wait in the room for another half hour waiting for the Dr to come.
I saw Dr. Rydzik and found her to be very personable, knowledgeable and eager to answer any questions I had.
No one in the office pressured me to buy their many products available or cosmetic procedures. The nurse even gave me a ridiculous amount of free samples of lotions and face wash.
And although I have no reason to go back (mole was ok guys, no worries.), I would strongly recommend them to anyone looking for a dermatologist.
