Captured Beer Bus

Was so happy this beer truck is in this food pod.
They have beer, cider, and wine which is awesome. We tried the IPA and something else which escapes me at the moment, but both were delicious!
Service was ultra friendly, and prices were low. I basically would like this to be available to me at all times when I’m eating literally any food ever.
You will not be disappointed!

My husband go here in St. John’s every other weekend. Usually it’s a really nice guy who rings us up. Today, a woman with a partially shaved head was at the counter. She was focusing on fixing the music and was obviously flustered and told the people she was in the middle of serving literally and told us all to come back in 5 minutes. After about 10 minutes, we saw that she had served a couple groups of people so we made our way back up to the counter. She served the people in front of us then when we got to the counter, she said her iPad died and told us she could not serve us. We said we could pay cash, then she responded in a very argumentative tone that she could not serve us. We were definitely putting her out. Of course we finished our meals and watched other people proceed to be served. Not once did she wave us over or say she could help us. That experience left us not wanting to come back. Terrible customer service.

Tasty craft beers on tap. Right by lots of yummy food trucks to pair with your beer. nothing bad about this.

I love this beer cart. Perfect location in inner SE. Great selection of ciders, wine, and beer. They have never been out of any of our drink choices. You can upgrade to a mega for just $ 2 more. Most beer is $ 5 and they all come in mason jars. The only thing i wish was different (and this goes for all the carts in this pod) is that they were open later. 9pm is still pretty early in PDX especially on weekends.

Pretty cool little joint! Great selection of beer and its surrounded by food carts. Sounds like the beer menu changes frequently which is nice. Would for sure recommend to anyone who is looking for a place to grab a quick beer.

What’s not to like about a bus pumping out brews? We had the Captured by Porches porter, it was quite tasty, nice mouth feel and super drinkable. I was overly impressed with the other selections on offer, but they rotate so it’s cool there’s always something different on tap.

Every food pod should have a beer cart!
Most selections are about $ 5 for beer and a couple $‘s more for wine. The wine selection was limited with one red and one white. There were many beers on tap including a rhubarb cider. I liked the large selection!
The beers are poured into large mason jars which made me feel sorta folksy as I gulped down my beer along with my food. Being the only beer cart in the pod they do not price gouge and it felt very fair to hand over some paper for beer.
The service was quick and the cart itself is interesting. I like the black bird!
At night it was chilly and I took in the warmth of the fire. I imagined being a somewhat upscale hobo, holding my mason jar and wondering what adventure my feet would take me next.
Truly as good as it gets!

I was bummed when Captured by Porches peaced out of the pod on Alberta. I loved sitting out there on a drizzly and overcast evening, sipping my delicious brewsky and listening to some live music. I knew they had moved elsewhere, but for some reason it escaped my mind to track them down.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago, when I wanted my friend to try the falafel at Wolf & Bear’s, after enjoying it many times in its northern home. As I approached the pod, I stopped in my tracks and yelled, «Holy shit! It’s the beer bus»! Super super excited to have found it and it is officially back on my radar.

— the business name

I still don’t get why this cart isn’t in every food cart pod. We’re in Portland for Christ’s sake, how can you eat food without beer?!?
I must say, though, my heart has been captured by this porch. A cold IPA in a mason jar to highlight the best torta of my life: I’m yours.

Excellent beers, and if you get hungry theres a handful of delicious food carts in the same pod with shared seating. They have at least 1 captured beer on tap, plus a selection of other breweries, a cider, and 2 wines on tap. Great spot to enjoy a beer!

The guy pouring beer is rude to people he doesn’t know, like he does not have the time. Bad vibe.

Warm weather, a variety of addicting food to choose from, and then top it off with delicious cold brew in mason jars! Captured by Porches has beer for anyone’s taste whether it’s an IPA or cider. Picking a brew is a cinch and the option of paying by card is a breeze. 2 Towns Cider is usually what I have been having lately and the rhubarb cider is a home run in my book. The guy pouring is friendly and offers great recommendations for those who asks.
$ 4 per brew is the standard price and wine is also available too. I have yet to be in a line waiting to order so that’s definitely a plus. I don’t know how often the website is updated but it still listed the cherry cider as of today. Hopefully the rhubarb is still on tap at my visit :). Knowing that some cart pods have a beer carts, it should become the standard for all!

Great family friendly place to meet up, grab some food and beers while enjoying the great Pacific Northwest weather. (I recommend Che Café for food, but that’s a separate review.) Especially nice for me, since it is within walking distance.
They are currently in the process of remodeling… which will be really nice when it’s done, but wish they could have done this before the weather got really nice. I have been told they are bringing in 5 more food carts and another big tent.
They have plenty of beers to choose from. They brew their own beer as well as having guest beers on tap and some bottled beer. They will fill your growler too.

I really like their beer and this spot was one of their food carts pod trucks which is cool. They let me get a half pint and that’s sweeet too!

Really good beers, super friendly staff, excellent location. Perfect Portland local brewery that has that je né sais quoi. I recommend the Invasive Species IPA and Red Rye and am anxious to see what seasonal offerings they may have.

HUGE fan of the concept of a beer truck mixed in with the food carts. Was a little disappointed that they only had two of their own beers on tap the day I was there (IPA and Apricot Wheat). Either way, the $ 4 price was right, and the food carts in this pod are some pretty great options.

It’s a cart that only serves beer! How awesome is that? They had 4 beers on tap and we loved what we had. A nice apricot beer and an IPA. Service was great and the mason jars were awesome.

A review of a visit to the Captured by Porches public bus (aka Mobile Public Haus) under two months before its departure to a new food pod on SE 28^th St and Ankeny from the now-​shuttered D-​Street Noshery.
In the waning afternoon daylight, the quiet food pod was dominated by Captured by Porches’ covered seating area, like a backyard party waiting to happen. Anchoring it is Captured by Porches’ short, green bus, beer taps out the side, fronted by a worn, portable wood bar. Available brews listed on a chalkboard easel.
This small, homegrown brewery offers just a few drafts at a time, four this late summer day for $ 3 each, served in mason jars. Relaxed in their beer tent, sampling the Emma Amber and Amber Wheat. These beers were genial, easy-​drinking for some pre-​dinner unwinding but otherwise unmemorable.
While I would not point someone here for a stimulating beer, there’s a charm to the laid-​back set-​up, akin to having a home-​brew at a friend’s backyard. I hope that ambience has been re-​created at their new location.

Captured by Porches has a lot going for it.
First off, it has a great name. I have no idea what it means, but it has a heck of a ring to it. It rolls off the tongue. I love it.
Second, these folks make some awesome beer. It’s different than your average, run-​of-​the-​mill brew. It’s interesting and delicious. Well-​balanced but at the same time exciting. My favorites are the IPA, the sour apricot and the apricot (and I don’t generally dig on fruit beer).
Third, they’re serving beer from a cart. Yes, a cart. So you can grab a mason jar of brew (that should be its own separate line item of awesomeness) from this cart, then wander around to take a gander at what all the other carts in the pod have to offer. And of course you can enjoy that same beer (or maybe a second) while you dine on your meal. A perfect bow on the gift that is this pod.
Fourth, they have lots of awesome quirks. Resealable bottles (prepare for large deposits — they want those bottles back), mason jars and kegs are the preferred method of container. They’ll fill growlers from the cart too. And the beer is plenty inexpensive. Especially for how good it is.
This is definitely not going to be your average brewpub experience. But that’sn one of the great things about it. Tasty beer made by local folks and served as «street» as you can get (without wrapping the mason jars in paper bags). Dig it.
