Camille Orehovec – Salon Shibumi

Since moving from Portland, I have not been able to find someone who can cut and color my hair like Camille. She is amazing. So amazing in fact, that I only get my hair cut and colored twice a year when I come up to Portland to visit. I have medium length, layered, dark, wavy hair and every cut I ask for, she nails it everytime. Her haircuts grow out very well. I get red highlights and they look fab every time.
She’s also wonderful about listening and respecting your preferences. I don’t know how many times I’ve come out of other haircuts horrified by how they styled my hair (even if the cut itself was ok)…but not Camille! Another important point: she is CONSISTENT in doing great work.
Oh how I wish Camille lived in San Francisco… you lucky Portlanders!

I found Camille through her Unilocal reviews while looking for a trusted Keratin treatment professional. I have naturally thick, curly hair that I have colored a lot. I have been wanting the treatment done for awhile but couldn’t pull the trigger.
When I called her we spoke a lot about my hair. I felt really comfortable and we scheduled a consultation so she could work with my hair. At the consultation she really got to know my hair. I explained the history of it and what I wanted the keratin treatment to do. She took everything in and then showed me what it would look like when the actual treatment was done. I scheduled my actual appointment IMMEDIATELY — wish I could have got in earlier haha.
Before the treatment she made sure I was comfortable with the process — as it would take a long time (thick, curly, hair = 4 hours). When I got there she again made sure I was comfortable and ready to take on the adventure. It was sooo easy! It didn’t even feel like a long process. She is very very knowledgeable and just a wonderful person. Someone you want to spend time with.

Camile has been doing my hair for over a year now! It’s never looked better. She’s really awesome and sweet and great for conversation. She’s cut, colored, done brazilian keratin treatments, and styled me with an amazing updo.

Have you seen my hair? My mom claims some sort of credit for it, but I know deep down it was my Dad that gave me the strawberry blonde color and Camille picks up the slack when I abuse it (like home bang trims, neglecting real trims for 8+ months.
Camille is the master of beachy waves. My hair is naturally wavy, and she cuts layers perfectly. No wedding layer cake look, just well-​integrated layers. I can go natural and let it air dry, or get fancy with the flatiron — and it looks great either way.
I haven’t used her for color because I am pretending the ultra light blonde hairs at my temples are just that. Camille and I talked about putting in some foils when things start to get really grey, I think her quote was reasonable, but I’ve never dyed my hair before so I’m just trusting her. Which you should as well!
She’s seriously the nicest, least pretentious stylist I’ve had in ages. While I may have wobbly bits here and there on my bod, I can always trust that Camille has done her best to make my Rapunzel locks look pristine. I get stopped on the street. No lie.

Camille is an excellent hair dresser — she has helped me explore new styles and colors and I always feel safe in her hands. I even had her do my hair and makeup for my wedding and I get compliments on both whenever people see photos. Camille is a talented professional — it is a joy to sit in her chair.

I think it tells you how much I loved my cut from Camille by the fact that I got my first cut from her 6 months ago and haven’t been able to go to anyone else since. Alas, I live in Medford and it is not always practical to drive 4 ½ hours for a haircut, but I am seriously considering it. Camille makes you feel comfortable, listens to what YOU want and then delivers. I would recommend her to anyone.

Camille is so great at what she does and you can tell that she loves doing it when you sit in her chair! I normally cut and color my own hair, but when I got a gift card for my birthday to get my hair done professionally I was very excited. I tend to change my hair color often so by the time I went to see Camille, my hair was an absolute mess. (picture a sunset drawn by a 3 year old. it was bad.) So when I sat in Camille’s chair for the first time, I was very embarrassed, but there was no judgement from her. She made me feel very comfortable and relaxed while she fixed the mess on my head. After a few hours of shampooing, hair-​dying and cutting I looked in the mirror and was immediately thankful for that birthday present. The color and cut were exactly what I had asked for, which does not often happen. She had done a beautiful job and i was so excited to show it off.
Since then I have been back to see her myself while also recommending her to anyone and everyone and have only heard positive feedback.

Cannot say enough good things about Camille. I have lived in PDX for four years and just found her this past summer. Usually when I get a haircut it takes about a week for me to like it, but with her cuts it’s immediate! She is worth every penny and more! Highly recommended by someone who is REALLY picky about who cuts her hair. Added bonus: she washes hair like she’s a massage therapist!!!

How embarrassing, my first date with my new hairdresser and I hadn’t cut my hair in over a year! Split ends, uneven bangs (self-​trim at home), grown-​out color, oy!
Well, Camille did not even lean towards making me feel bad for my hair transgressions. She carefully listened to my unclear ideas and gave me the exact cut and color that I was looking for. Genius!
Another thing that I appreciate about Camille is that she is a wonderful conversationalist. I have spent many an awkward hour in a salon chair listening to the hairstylist complain about their clients, coworkers and bosses or talk about their boyfriend troubles. Camille is a natural when it comes to making people comfortable through conversation, an excellent trait when you have a few contained hours with someone in their chair.
Besides being amazing with color, Camille offers Brazilian blow-​outs (a straightening method which ADDS keratin to your hair). I highly recommend this service if you have always wanted to have straight hair, but hate the everyday hassle of a straightening iron.
Finally, Camille gives free bang trims to her clients. As if I need an excuse to LOVE her more. A needed maintenance item and a good reason to stop by and see her between visits.
If you are looking to find a long-​term relationship with an awesome stylist, this gal is the one!

Camille is so AMAZING she keeps me coming back for more. When you sit down in her chair you will instantly feel at ease. She has a wonderful way of making the time pass with fun conversation. If she doesn’t give a shit about what is going on in your life, you would never know. She is kind, genuine and really good at cutting, coloring and styling hair. I even hired her to do my hair and makeup on my wedding day and couldn’t have felt like a more beautiful bride.
