Will not work with someone who says they are open on Sunday; I then call and they were so unprofessional on the phone told me that they wouldn’t be near my area tomorrow an to call them back tomorrow so I could set up and appointment. if your website says your open till 7pm on Sunday I would expect way more courtesy when I’m calling at 1pm then a basic yeah we do what you need (in a grudging voice) call me back tomorrow and I’ll talk to you. I dint really have an expectation of you coming out immediately as I was just calling to find out about inspections but I would have liked for you to be more willing to talk so I could get a price and have an idea on how much it’s going to cost and to be able to set up an appointment would have been nice. If you don’t want anyone calling you on Sunday don’t say your open. I have never been so irritated with someone over the phone when all I wanted was some basic information. I had gone through many reviews from many different companies and thought that out of them all this company seemed the best, unfortunate based on the brief contact with them I will have to go back to the drawing board.

I’ve called twice. First time a guy was to supposed to come that day to give me an estimate & he never showed. No one called me to tell me or explain why. I chalked it up to an honest mistake & called again a few days later. The guy on the phone said he would call me back. I never heard from him. Guess they have no need for my business, not that I would use them at this point anyway. Extremely poor customer service.

I called for help with my chimney cap which had blown askew on a windy day last spring. He said they were all out on a job except one guy in the office. So he sent that guy to my house that same day. I got home from work and the cap was on perfectly straight. And there was no charge!

David was great in helping me deal with a botched job done by another company. Would highly recommend. It is not always easy to find contractors that are as ethical as he is today.

David and team did an excellent job refinishing out chimney. We had almost no grout left in the top have. We received a few quotes and they were about in the middle.
On time, cleaned up worksite, reasonable cost. Very pleased and I don’t have to worry about my chimney for the rest of my life!

Bridgetown Chimney is definitely where you need to go for your Portland-​area chimney needs. Bridgetown Chimney consists of David and his small staff of quality masons. They do high quality work, are the best price in town, and are a pleasure to work with.
Backstory: I bought a house in NE with a 70 year old chimney that was falling apart. Portland Chimney quoted me $ 2700 to do a complete rebuild of the chimney. I called David and he said we only need to do a tuck-​point (grind out the old mortar and replace it with new). A 3^rd bid also recommended a tuck point but at a higher price. Most of the reviews here for Bridgetown were short and not entirely helpful, but I trusted my instincts and went with David to do the repair.
For $ 1400, I was able to completely redo the outer chimney, put a cap on it (there was none there before), put in a new damper (cause rain had rusted the old one), he fixed some cracks in the firebox, and gave it a nice acid wash to protect and clean.
The damper had not arrived when they fixed the chimney, but he was very flexible and came the same day it arrived to install and finish the project.
These are great guys to work with and will recommend them to anyone needing chimney cleaning or repair work. He made sure I understood how the damper worked and how it was installed. If he doesn’t return your phone calls immediately, it’s probably because he’s up to his elbows in soot and will get to you when he can. They are definitely trustworthy and I hope all my future home repairs will go as smooth.

David is easily, far and away, the best chimney man in town — your search just ended.
His price was reasonable, he was friendly and worked quickly and efficiently. I’ll be calling him again and again with all my chimney needs.

Instead of telling me to redo my chimney, which would have cost around $ 1000, David told me all I needed to do was to re-​stucco the chimney – so my cost was a quarter of other estimates.
Please use David, because he will tell you what you need, instead of trying to make as much money as possible.
