I went in on a whim last December and Linus was able to draw up exactly what i wanted and used colors I didnt even know were possible. He was fast, efficient and did an amazing job on the shading. Price was fair and reasonable, I will be returning this weekend to ink up my brother and possibly get my second from this establishment! I would highly recommend!

Lucky me, this awesome shop is a 3 minute drive from my hotel near the Lloyd Center in downtown Portland. Double lucky me, this awesome shop also welcomes worry free walk ins. Combine this with stellar tatt artists and a budget friendly price, makes Blacklist THE best place to go for last minute tattoo urges, or a long time planned out piece. Either way, I can guarantee you’ll walk out of this shop happy with your new ink. Mine was done in less than an hour, and was executed perfectly. I’ve had two pieces done on me already from shops in SF, but I have to say this experience has been the best.

*Cash only but there is an atm inside
*Call ahead just in case
*If you are pain sensitive bring a book or have stuff on your phone to watch and distract you. There are no TVs, and they play loud 2chainz type music if you’re not into that be prepared
*Ask for Sean he is amazing!
A tattoo is definitely not something you should just wing, but Blacklist is your best bet for a quick fix!

Jacob at Blacklist has done several of my tattoos. His work is always so clean and heals very well. He has a professional attitude and is always willing to listen to his clients before giving his advice. Great shop and great atmosphere, too!

I have been tattooed by Sean Lanusse twice now so this review is long overdue. He did great for me with a custom ‘stoic pig’ and a version of the Timbers Stand Together logo. Just last week, he also took the time to help my Dad (64 years old) pick out and draw his first tattoo. It was that kind of attention that gives this shop and Sean 5 stars. You really couldn’t ask for anything more. Looking forward to my next tattoo with Sean!

I have had the majority of my tattoos done at Blacklist and I can honestly say that I am comfortable with and trust all of the tattooers in this shop. Blacklist is staffed by amazing talent and awesome personalities.
Blacklist is extremely clean and the quality of the work is top notch. If you want tattoos done right go here. Seriously.

The first time I came here was fantastic. I worked with Gavin and he was so helpful, patient, and offered great advice on the issues with the original piece I brought in were in terms of the placement I wanted and how to fix it. I was getting my 8^th tattoo at that point so I am no newcomer to what my tattooing experience should be like.
When I came in to get my next tattoo. I was very excited because I am from California and waited specifically to come back to Oregon to get tattooed at Blacklist. When I arrived I learned Gavin was not there so I spoke with another artist, made an appointment and came back the next day.
I get there and am working with Linus on my tattoo. He goes to the back to draw it and it looks nothing like the what I asked for when he finally comes back out. As we all know TATTOOS ARE PERMANENT so I refuse to be complacent with a subpar drawing and I refuse to pay for that as well. I tried to explain to Linus the issues I found with it and what I wanted fixed. He did not agree and let’s me know the first sketch was done in five minutes… yet somehow that one was much better than the one he took 30 minutes to draw more «intricately». Clearly there’s an issue, but despite that I try to explain once more and to this end am told:
«If I want a 5 minute sketch I can go down the street and let anyone do it. If I don’t like his sketch then I don’t like my own drawing, so I don’t like my own idea and he doesnt want to tattoo someone who doesn’t know what they want.» He then proceeds to walk away from me and never come back…
Are you absolutely fucking kidding me?! I attempted to explain it to him several times and his ego, unprofessionalism, and inability to perfect a «5 minute sketch» left me with no tattoo and a bad taste in my mouth about Blacklist tattoo. I won’t say avoid them all because even one of the workers I talked to outside after the disagreement agreed with me. But AVOID LINUS!!! I REPEAT AVOID LINUS!

Absolutely amazing tattoo shop filled with some of the most talented (and friendly) artists. If it weren’t for Jason at grizzly and Rachel at no hope no fear, I would absolutely get everything I want done, done here. I plan on getting a majority of my remaining tattoo ideas done here.

Gavin did an awesome job on my husbands wedding band tattoo. He was really patient and worked with us to design what we really wanted. Thank you!

I am happy to report my excellent experience with Brynn. I love being able to walk into a shop and walk out with a tattoo — and working with a really cool artist makes the whole thing even better. Brynn was able to come up with a sketch that was exactly what I wanted that I wasn’t exactly great at articulating. I will certainly be going back for more!
The shop is cash-​only, does have an ATM and accepts walk-​ins.

Brynn is amazing!!! She did my «Beauty and the beast» half sleeve! And it’s absolutely stunning! The colors and the line work are so great! Best place ever!!! All the artists are so great! Super clean and Professional!

I’ve gotten TWO tattoos here, soon to be three and haven’t written a review yet! Well…
This is the only place I will get my tattoos done at. Brynn did an amazing wolf on my thigh last summer. I came in with a super shit quality google image that I had my heart set on and she did the BEST job at bringing it to life. She was kind, patient and made sure we went through the process smoothly. She asked multiple times if it looks okay and if I was still happy with it. This was my first tattoo and it was big, so she was really gentle. I get compliments on the tattoo constantly.
My second was a walk in. It was a dedication to my favorite rapper. Brynn wasn’t available, but Sean was. He asked what I had in mind. I only knew the quote, not the font or anything. So I told him to give me something neutral and clean. That’s exactly what I got. He wasn’t judgmental at all and didn’t poke fun at my tattoo unlike the rude receptionist. (Seriously, fire her and get someone else, what a beeyotch) He didn’t press too hard, so the lines and ink look great on my thin, small arm.
I really do love this shop. Everyone is so fun and nice. They all take time to come peek at what you’re having done and they compliment it/​give you a thumbs up so you feel super comfortable and supported.
The pricing is also fantastic. Super affordable. Not sketchy, very straight forward. AND– they call a few days before the appointment to make sure you’re still on board.
My only complaint– as stated earlier, was the girl working the front desk. When I told her what I was wanting to do for my walk in her response was «Wow, seriously? Ha, okay then.» And she walked back to get Sean. I mean, how RUDE! Way to make a client feel like a dumbass. She looked 17 too. Please, hire someone as rad as the artists!

My dog died in early August and I wanted her face tattooed on me. I found Christy Fish’s work on Instagram and knew I wanted her to do the portrait of my pup. I met with Christy for a consult and then scheduled the session.
Christy was great to work with. She helped me decide on placement on my thigh and made sure I was in a comfortable position during the session. More importantly, did a fantastic job on my tattoo! She captured my pup perfectly and added a nice little filigree frame around it. I’m glad to have found an artist whose work I absolutely love here in Portland!

Brynn does rad work! Got my pizza tattoo by her and my dog on my leg. And I’m in love with both. so fun to work with and always gives me exactly what I ask for. Can’t wait to go back for my next one. Thanks brynn !!!

With one consultation with Sean Lanusse, I had an amazing sketch for a half sleeve that I was in love with. He exceeded my expectations as an artist, and did a wonderful job even though my tattoo was not in his regular style. Overall awesomeness.

I got the best tattoos from Sean! The workmanship is amazing. He took my idea and made it his own! I doubt I’d let anyone else put ink in me!
And the prices are totally reasonable!

I had been wanting to get a tattoo for a long time, however due to the fact that I lived overseas most of my life where getting tattoos are illegal the want had to wait.
Thankfully I moved back stateside for a year and finally was able to pursue my want for ink. I looked all over the city of Portland for shops and was for the most part bummed out. Most shops I went to were lacking in friendliness and advice for a tattoo virgin. Needless to say I was very disappointed about finding a good place for a tattoo, until I came across Blacklist.
The shop is extremely welcoming, great flash on the walls and awesome artist portfolios. The people at the front desk are incredibly friendly and make you feel right at home.
When it comes to the artists, their a great bunch. Not only are their tattoos top notch and stunning but they are also very friendly and considerate. When they consult you on your tattoo they put you at ease and let you know they know what their doing and will give you the best tattoo.
I have had all of my tattoos done in Blacklist and will continue to do so every time I am stateside.

Great experience at Blacklist Tattoo. Unlike most of the best shops in the city, they accept walk-​ins all the time. Walked in with my sketch, and 30min later, was getting my tattoo. Out the door in 90min. Awesome.
Sean Lanusse was my artist and was fantastic. He added his own touch to the design I provided (for the better), and also was very smooth in the tattooing process — relative to a tattoo I got in the exact same spot on my other calf by an artist in Minnesota, it hurt less and was done quicker, being equally as complex.

*parking is relatively easy in the neighborhood behind the show or street side in front.
