We have been helping customers since 2003 in the Portland/​Vancouver area.

Load and unload only. (We do not provide the moving truck.)

We come with moving blankets, hand truck, piano dolly, tools and plastic wrap (upon request).

We carry liability insurance which covers any damage to your items, your property, or yourself during the loading and unloading process. In 2009 Oregon dropped the licensing requirement for our business type.

We have received many complements over the years for our care and concern for customer’s furniture and premises. We know that moving is a very stressful time and have learned to help the customer through the process simply by being sincere and respectful people, along with having the knowledge and strength to see the job through to the end.

History

Established in 2003.

We have received work predominantly via the MovingHelp web site (associated with U-​Haul) over these last eight years. We have established a strong reputation there, receiving almost 700 customer reviews with all but a few being 5 out of 5 star ratings. Reviews of our services can also be found on HireAHelper web site, Yelp, and Angie’s List.

I’ve now used August Movers for a third time, this past weekend and they exceeded themselves once more. Randall, Amy and the rest of the crew (we used four movers) were prompt, professional, careful, very reasonably priced, FAST, and just great! We moved a four-​bedroom house with a 24′ U-​Haul, and they managed to fully load the truck, unload it *and* go back for a smaller, second load, in UNDER SIX HOURS!
Randall is a «load whisperer,» a wizard, or something. I watched the crew carry stuff out of the house, and every time I looked in the truck, there was still room. They were efficient, friendly (even joking with my 20-​month old son), and careful with everything. Amy is a sweetheart, supportive, and STRONG. They made the move easy, happily working with our requests when we wanted some things put different places, and did just a phenomenal job. They made what should have been a stressful (and could have been a nightmare) day as much a pleasure as it could possibly have been.
If you are doing a local move, call August Movers. End of story. It’s much less expensive to rent and drive your own truck. Randall, Amy and the crew are exceptional!

We used August Movers recently to help with our move. For a small place we had a fairly large amount of furniture to get moved. Our movers Randall and Amy were terrific. They showed up on time and worked extremely hard for five hours to get everything moved. Both had a pleasant attitude and smiles that made moving a bit less stressful.
I would definitely use August Movers again and will recommend to anyone I know who is moving.

This was the smoothest moving experience I’ve ever had! Randall was easy to communicate with and very flexible in planning the move. They showed up on time with moving supplies and were super friendly and gentle with our stuff the whole way. I saved a lot of money even after factoring in the UHaul rental. Would definitely hire them again and recommend them to anyone!

I needed two pianos moved – one from my sister’s house to mine across Portland, and the other one just into my garage. After a tiny bit of phone tag, I found that it was much easier to reach Randall by text. Once we began texting, things moved quickly. They were able to fit me in with about two days’ notice.
They arrived right on time and quickly did exactly the job they said they’d do. I’m absolutely amazed by their physical strength – Randall and Amy are ridiculously strong! They made quick work of the whole job, and it could not have gone smoother.
The only disadvantage was having to get a UHaul truck myself since they don’t have a truck, but I was happy to do that since I’m sure it’s what helps keep the costs down. I will DEFINITELY hire Randall and Amy again.

Forgive me if I gush, but… I moved to Hillsboro from Colorado 14 months ago and engaged August Movers for unloading help over the internet. They had a completely stuffed 22′ truck unloaded in an hour and a half. In addition, they read the notes on the boxes putting everything in the correct rooms and worked to get the dining room rug centered perfectly under the light. Two days ago, it was time to move again. I knew they could unload. Amy and Randall are loading geniuses, too — I was amazed when they fit more into the same 22′ truck than I arrived with. Not only do they work harder than any other movers I’ve hired, took no breaks and refused to let me buy them lunch, everything arrived in perfect condition. I can’t imagine using anyone else — August Movers has my complete trust and highest recommendation.

I’ve never used movers for an across-​town move, but I will ALWAYS use August Movers from now on. Not only were they fast and efficient, but Amy and Randall are two of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. Who has ever said that moving is a joy? I think you’ll hate it a whole lot less if you hire these guys.

August Movers were kind, fast, efficient, careful, and every other adjective I could come up with to explain an awesome moving company. We had to pack up a 20′ truck twice — once for the home to which we were temporarily moving, and once to storage. It was a LOT of stuff, including a pool table and a piano. They got it all done within an afternoon and didn’t waste a second. They’re clearly not out to delay for the sake of charging for more time. In a couple months when we close on our new house, we’ll be contacting them again! I highly recommend.
My only complaint: Contacting and communicating with them is a little challenging. Because they’re a small, locally owned business, they don’t employ any reception or scheduling or the like — and they’re BUSY. For that reason, it’s hard to catch them. Text message is more reliable, but sometimes important nuances are missed. Don’t let that deter you from using their service though, just be prepared make sure that everyone is on the same page.

Why are you still reading all these reviews? Don’t hesitate to book August Movers right now. I could write a very long review full of praises for Amy and Randall, but to get my point across quickly, I will boil it down to my top three reasons to hire them.
1– These are experienced movers. They know what they’re doing and how to protect your stuff. Amy and Randall aren’t college students looking for a summer job – They’re legit. Not to mention they seem to have an endless amount of energy and strength and were still working hard and quickly past the 5th hour (!) of moving me across town.
2– Their rates are very reasonable. Even though I had to rent/​drive my own truck, I ended up saving a couple of hundred dollars than what I would have spent at some of the other moving companies I looked at.
3– They’re nice, Portland-​y people. My cat even liked them, and he is scared of everyone/​thing.

August Movers are incredible. The best customer service ever… They showed up on time and immediately started to work. .. They were efficient and professional in all aspects of our move, plus they consistently go above and beyond. They packed the truck very well, handling all of our furniture, boxes, and wall hangings with care, and wrapping everything that needed it well. This is the 3rd time that our friends and family have used them, and we will again in September when our new home is completed. ..

I flew to Virginia to meet up with my son, who had already loaded up a 26′ rental truck. We then started our long trek to Hillsboro, Oregon. We broke down a couple of times so we were running behind schedule and extremely exhausted. I called August Movers from Rock Springs Wyoming and set up a time for them to meet us the next day in Hillsboro.
The next day at the scheduled time, the workers showed up and were started unloading immediately. It had started to rain and they did everything they could to protect my son’s belongings. They finished the truck in about 1.5 hours. They worked hard, were very pleasant, and friendly.
I paid the workers the 2 hour minimum but they continued to offer to help since they emptied the truck so quick. I informed them that we were good and thanked them for their help and they subsequently left.
About 20 minutes later, I went out to the rental truck to clean it up, when I noticed they had swept out the truck and folded all the blankets. This was after they had already been paid.
We were extremely pleased with their service and I highly recommend them!

This is the bestest movers ever! They were so very helpful in this time of struggle. Golly, moving is horrible. They made it so very easy. BUT the main reason for writing this review is the comments from the movers who unloaded us at the end of our trip. They wanted to know who loaded it because they have NEVER seen a truck packed so perfectly. This made it much easier for them & quicker. Besides that, they are the nicest people & lucky for them that we moved cuz they would have been our friends whether they liked it or not. Simply stated: they are wonderful people.

We have used August Movers three separate times and each time was a pleasure. They were punctual, had great attitudes, moved quickly and never stopped to take any excessive breaks. They packed the truck efficiently and even helped lead some of the activities (at our request) to ensure we got done as quickly as possible. In the most recent move, they even helped pack because it needed to be done. I would recommend them to anyone.

Last month we moved from New Hampshire to Vancouver, WA. We rented a 26′ Penske truck and drove ourselves across the country. We decided to hire movers to help us unload the truck on this end; to minimize the time we disrupted our neighbors, and because we knew we’d be exhausted from the journey.
They showed up on time, immediately introduced themselves, and got to work. The entire truck was unloaded in less than two hours. AND they arranged our furniture so we wouldn’t have to move it again. Their attention to detail was impeccable… not a single ding in the walls despite carrying large furniture up a narrow staircase to the second floor bedrooms. (Had we done it ourselves, there would have been many dings, I’m sure.)
Honestly, they were some of the nicest people I’ve ever met and their prices were beyond reasonable. The next time we move, they will be the first and only people we call (and the only movers we recommend to friends).

I don’t often give 5 stars so when I do, you can bet it was for superior service or excellent value. In the case of August Movers, it was both.
I had originally planned on using another moving company but was having problems reaching them. By the time I finally heard about Randall and Amy I was worried that they would be completely booked. Fortunately Randall called me back the same day and we were able to schedule the move on the exact date I was hoping for. We discussed the number of hours needed, the price, what they provide, etc. Very, very informative.
The day before the move, I got a text reminding me they were coming. They arrived right on time and after a quick tour and explanation of what was going into the POD, they took a moment to cuddle up with my kitty and then immediately went to work.
I have always been proud of being a strong woman but watching Amy work… well, my jaw was on the ground several times. She took charge of moving almost everything from the house, down 3 steps, across the yard and to the POD while Randall worked his Tetris magic packing it as full as possible. It was quite shocking how much we were able to get inside the thing. They had that entire POD packed in exactly 3 hours!
I am so thankful I wasn’t able to reach the original movers I was going to use and discovered August Movers instead. I will definitely be calling them back when I have to unload that POD.
