Rooms To Go

The biggest crooks I have ever dealt with in four decades of life. I’ve worked retail, I know the deal and to be treated so poorly, lied to… I pray these people repent of their shoddy business practices. You may think you gained a dollar in your pocket but you lost countless customers just now.

I admit that I fell for the flashy ads on TV and the bright flyers in the Sunday newspaper. To be able to furnish an entire room for a package price was very appealing to me. I researched the Rooms To Go website and found a 3 pc. sectional set that looked perfect for my family room, and most of all the price was Ok with my wife! The set featured 2 manual reclining seats in the sofa section and 2 electric reclining seats in the love seat section. It included a wedge that goes between the 2 couches completing the set. The package price for the sectional alone was $ 2,199.00. We planned on ordering a matching recliner at $ 499.00 as well. Estimated total, roughly $ 2,700.00 before tax.
So now we go to the store, we’re greeted by Ed, a nice older man who told us that he’s still working only because he enjoys meeting new people like us! Nice. We show him the ad that I saved on my iPad and he takes us over to see it up close. Looks like it did in the ad, so we were happy with it. Then Ed picks up a placard that is on the showroom coffee table and offers us a better deal that would not only include the set we went there to purchase,. but included a coffee table, a end table, a television stand and a lamp, which would then qualify you to purchase a 65″ LED TV at a special price. The price for this classic up-​sale package, about $ 3,899.00. We discussed it and went for it. Mind you we were not informed that there would be any changes to the original se we ordered.
Two weeks or so later, the set was delivered. The two man delivery crew were very nice setting the chair, couches and the wedge where we wanted. The tables and the lamp required us to assemble them. As the driver brought his pad for us to sign accepting the delivery, I noticed that both couches were equipped with manual recliners. I knew that we made sure to remind Ed that we wanted the electric recline option in the love seat, so I told the driver. He put me on the phone with I identified someone who starts telling me that if I want that option I have to pay an additional fee of $ 100.00 per seat. Then she told me to call the store and take it up with them.
So I call the store, no Ed and no store manager. A few days later same results. Finally my wife gets in contact with Ed who denies knowing anything regarding the powered recliners. (Ed is lying.) I had to have surgery and was in the hospital for a bit as was my Mother, so the RTG fiasco had to take a back seat for a minute.
After getting my Mom settled and getting myself healed, my wife and I go into the store to try to get things settled. Not surprising at at, no store manager was available, but there was Ed, who was being defended by a younger more arrogant salesman. This guys favorite saying is «there’s nothing we can do», also telling us to «come back tomorrow when the store manager will be there, but he doubts there’s anything he can do either». Instead of hearing what we were trying to explain to the about the time that lapsed between delivery and us arriving at the store, he just keeps parroting «there’s nothing we can do» the gets up, walks towards two new victims walking in. We attempted to explain that we informed the store at the time of delivery that the electric option was missing. Meanwhile Ed continues to act as though he did nothing wrong and still tries to get us to pay for the option that was included in the first place.
Anyone who chooses to shop at Rooms To Go in Port Richey, Fl. ‚. Please check, double check, triple check your order before they send it through. Then review your receipt again, because those kind, funny, engaging salesmen that you meet on the way in who you trust to assist you with your purchase,. Later become arrogant, stubborn, rude men without the ability to remember anything that they may have screwed up during the sale and then try to blame you for their errors. They may think that they won this time, but I truly believe that what goes around, comes around. Personally I’m through with RTG.

Walked into this furniture store as I saw something at another location in Jacksonville, Fl that I really wanted to purchase for my residence here. I walked in and there was no one to greet me. I walked around and saw employees having a conversation amongst themselves. As I saw what I wanted, I walked around to see if what I read on Unilocal was true as you can’t believe everything. Twenty-​four minutes there still no one came up, I’m just still browsing around and finally went up to desk in the back and asked if someone could help me. They called someone and we walked on over to what I wanted to purchase.
I just got annoyed for the wait and informed them I will take my business elsewhere. In Jacksonville and Orange Park Fl their RTG are very nice with great customer service. I miss that! Not sure why people think they have to be so awful to people they don’t know.
I didn’t mention any names as I just wanted to focus on how awful the service was no matter who did what and it shouldn’t matter who it was. They should hire better people!

I like most of the furniture there. I’ve never had a problem with that. The problem I have is with the employees. They all act pretentious and like they’re better than the people that walk in unless their older. If your not in you 50’s then you won’t get any help, you won’t get any respect, and if you do the employee will leave you for someone that’s older that just walked in the door.

These guys were so horrid, they pretty much chased us out of the store with their incredible pushy and invasive sales tactics. Sales rep Alan INSISTED that I was not allowed to buy the living room set I had chosen without the power reclining and fabric treatment options. He refused to give me a price on the set without those options despite me asking him several times. He skirted around the answer and resorted to flat-​out ignoring me whenever I asked. I had stepped away for maybe 30 seconds to take a quick phone call, and by the time I had returned, he had somehow convinced my elderly grandmother (who had just come along for the ride) to hand a check over to him, and he was already running it through the scanner! That man is a crook, that whole team is a disaster. You’re better off searching through garage sales than dealing with the a-​holes here.

Great selection of standard middle class furniture for the Floridian that really doesn’t know any better anyway. Sales staff are robots sent from corporate central casting. But Manager Steve takes the cake of mindless inefficiency, controlled by his RTG overlords. I’m certain many episodes of Twilight Zone were based on the day to day experiences at this particular Rooms To Go. Please leave all common sense in your vehicle before entering this establishment.

Bought an expensive living room set just over one year ago. The cushions on the couch are already ripping and are losing their shape. Very poor quality and I will never shop there again.

Worst furniture buying experience of my life. Salesman, Brian Roberts, gave me a great deal on a showroom model. Then, he offered to deliver it implying that it was RTG delivering it. When I refused to pay the driver cash, he admitted that it was a side business for him. I denied the delivery. Then, he gave me the wrong delivery date for my furniture. A week off! I called and asked what was up with it, and the manager told me that I was mistaken and to grab my stuff because he would have to keep shoving it around and was not responsible for additional damage. Fantastic experience.
