River Runner’s Roost

Really good food. Nice friendly staff. The pulled pork was tender (got the sandwich). The buffalo wings were super meaty. Kids meals had generous portions… the place was Very, Very clean and had nice bathrooms (I usually have my kids following me so it was nice) –definitely family friendly. Oh and nice beers on tap for us and lemonade in kiddie cups. Score!

My friends and I stopped here after white water rafting. We were STARVING. The inside was so nicely decorated — I especially loved the mason jar light fixtures. The staff was very polite and helpful with directions as we were heading home after eating. My friends both ordered the ribs, which were delicious, and I ordered buffalo wings and a few sides of baked beans and corn. Everything tasted homemade and fresh. I would recommend this spot to anyone going through the area.

Have been going to Glen Spey/​Pond Eddy for very long time. During college days went canoeing to Skinners Falls. So, this past Friday decided to go exploring towards Barryville came upon River Runner’s Roost BBQ & decided to stop in.
Walked in, plenty of seats available, there were a few occupied tables. The place looked rustic and clean. I decided to sit at the bar. Out came the menu, ordered a glass of wine. Took a few minutes to go over the menu, good selection of Q sandwiches including Black Angus Pastrami, house smoked for 12 hrs. with optional cheese for .50. OY VAY! cheese on a pastrami that’s sacrilegious. Pastrami should be served on rye, deli mustard, cole slaw & a side of french fries, thats the only way to have pastrami, like Katz’s & Carnegie Deli. I ordered pulled pork Q sandwich, had a choice of 3 Q sauces SC, Kansas & some other — can’t remember. Couldn’t decide so the bartender came back with a sample of all three, ordered the Kansas. Within 5 or 10 minutes came out the sandwich.
The sandwich was on a fresh warm bun and just the right size, for me, not too big or small. Pork was very tender and moist, slaw was a bit too vinegary. But all in a good Q sandwich

Really great food and the service was fantastic! The staff was so friendly and accommodating. The BBQ and the Italian food were both great. I would definitely go back here anytime I’m in the area.

I have been here 3 or 4 times now and each time was great! The BBQ food has a great smoked flavor throughout the meat. Carolina BBQ sauce is awesome!
Would recommend to anyone.

What More Could You Ask For ?
My only complaint is: It is not in Port Jervis
So I am forced to take the drive over the Beautiful Hawks Nest and down Route 97 along the scenic Delaware River to get there

This is an excellent find, along the river, on your way towards Barryville, NY. You won’t be disappointed. Everything on the menu, ribs, beef, bbq, fish, salads, rice and bean, are all made with care and an excellent eye for tasty detail.

First lunch here today. Awesome steak sandwich for me and a perfectly cooked burger for the Judester. Glad to have Rich, Mary, John and company back! Looking for to trying the rest of the menu.
