I came in for highlight touch up, and to get my ends lightened when I was home visiting my parents. I specifically asked for deep roots and showed FIVE photos of exactly what I wanted. Since I booked my appointment only for a hair head she said couldn’t do exactly all the hair but would try her best. The end result was terrible– she went all the way to my roots in some areas and WAY too light. The strands were so white they almost looked gray. I already had the highlights with the roots, it should have been an easy job to just add a bit of color to some extra strands and make the ends lighter. She also made a skunk stripe under my hair — it looked absolutely terrible with my hair up. I tried to call the salon but they don’t pick up the phone! I will never be returning there. I also asked for JUST trim at the end of it and she cut at least 2 inches off. Very unhappy with the whole experience. I went out to buy boxed dye and fix the roots but still not what I wanted.

I am updating my review because of a member here on Unilocal who writes glowing reviews about this salon. I believe I am entitled to my opinion and therefore will restate it about this salon. The reason I am is due to the following; A client or employee, owner, etc. personally messaged me on my review.(ISTHATALLOWED?) In the pm to me they began telling me the reason the owner canceled my appointment that day. THIS person claimed to have overheard the reason my appointment was canceled. It’s strange that this person had the knowledge that I did not. In any case I think it’s pityful to get a pm here when a legit review like mine is placed and it’s genuine. I took my business elsewhere since my appointment was canceled with no other plans to have any other person at that salon take care of me. Obviously if there was a reason«such as a house closing«it is surely known in advance. Just like the special function I was attending that evening in which I needed the service. Because of my appt being canceled JUSTBEFORE I WASTOARRIVE I could not plan for another appt anywhere! I have been informed however from other people that this is a common occurrence with this hairstylist /owner and is why those people left that salon as well, because they were tired of such things. I expect since the person who pm –ed me is either a happy client or the owner herself, that their personal experience is different from my own and others I have spoken to about this. This is America and people have the right to have their own opinion.

I was fairly new to the Wayne area; only living here about a year and half after moving from Hoboken. I was going to Marie Robinson in NYC before my move to Wayne and decided it was time to find a new salon; I went to Gallery A twice before finding Blend. I made an appointment with Kayla and was unsure of whether or not I wanted to go back to my natural(darker) color or go a bit lighter(already had some copper blonde highlights). I showed Jennifer and Kayla a bunch of photographs of the hair colors that I liked; the end result came out even BETTER than I had hoped for. They combined a few different colors to help lift my hair and even ensured the color would look good on my skin tone! Many salons try to match what color you think looks good; completely forgetting that they may need to alter it a bit to ensure it matches your complexion! The entire time I was there I felt welcomed and at home; from the coffee to the small talk, 3 hours flew by! My haircut was just a trim and some angles but again came out great. Today is 3 weeks after my appointment and my hair color still looks as though I walked out of the salon yesterday! I have gotten more compliments on my hair color in the last 3 weeks than I ever have before! They have a customer for life!

Awful awful… and did I mention awful? Blend is a small salon off of rt 23 with the most ridiculous hours I’ve ever seen. Its hard to catch them when they are open because most of the time they are closed. I was a returning customer and they never remembered me however that was the least of my worries. One time I went into the salon for an appointment with Jen(the OWNER) and when I got there they switch me to someone else… wonderful. Then, I explain the hair style I want in full detail to this random stylist, I wasted blonde with huge, black, peek-a-boo low lights not that hard to do, right? I mean that is the picture they have in their window! She«finishes» my hair and immediately I tell her«it’s not what I wanted» And she insisted I go home and sleep on it to see if it grows on me. This hair style that I DIDN’T want costed me $ 225+ I left and came back the next day with a extra reference picture, show the artist and ask her to redo my hair. She got upset went over to Jen(the owner) they both agree to give me the style I want, I sit in the chair and Jen says«it’s going to be an extra $ 15 because it another service» I was livid at this point but my choices were to either get up, leave and be stuck with hair I hate, go somewhere else and play more or just pay the $ 15 to have her fix something she didn’t get right in the first place. Now I’m not someone who enjoys when people pitty me so I never told them but I was going into surgery they next week and could hardly even afford the $ 100 that they quoted me over the phone. I literally left, went in my car and cried. They have l lack of care for their customers as far as I’m concerned. I will never go back again.

I have been going to Blend for years. Jennifer is an amazing stylist and colorist. I receive so many compliments from friends and strangers alike even months after having my hair done! My stylist knows I’m bad about coming in for regular touch-ups and recommends styles that grow out from short to shoulder length very well. Its been since August since I went in for the full treatment and someone this morning asked if I got my hair done yesterday! Phenomenal! She also will give in to my adventurous side and work with me on new styles and coloring/highlights when I feel I need to change with the seasons, or my mood, as long as I give her a heads up so she schedules a little extra time. I recommend Blend to everyone!

I went here for an updo for a wedding I was in. They opened early for me and another bridesmaid. This is always a plus, especially when you have to get to the bride early in the day with your hair already done. We both brought in pictures of what we wanted our up-do’s to look like. My friend’s came out exactly like her picture — she was really happy with it. I gave my stylist a couple pictures to work from so I didn’t expect it to come out identical to any particular picture. The back(a low bun made of curls) came out great; the front(bangs around my face) was starting not to go in the direction I wanted and the owner(who had done my friend’s hair) came over and went over a couple different ways with the front until I was happy. I was really impressed that she and the other staff wanted to make sure I was satisfied with my ‘do. They ended up working on my hair for 90 minutes — this might be long for some but I was glad they got it right and didn’t rush me out of the shop even though there were people waiting. When my hair was finally done I was really happy with it — it turned out just the way I wanted and it was one of the best up-do’s I have ever had. I would definitely recommend this place for an up-do — try to get Jen(the owner) when you make the appointment but if you can’t the other girl(Kayla) was good too.

I went to Blend for the first time yesterday to get a haircut before vacation. Thanks to them, I’ll be wearing my bangs pinned back to my head for the next two weeks, because otherwise I look like a butchered woodcheck after what the«stylist» did. All in all, the place is warm and cute, but I can’t say the same for the staff. The«stylist» I had was unfriendly, didn’t talk to me at all(I mean, not the slightest) and was more concerned about talking to her friends about what the Britney Spears song on the radio was all about rather than making me feel even the slightest bit like I was welcomed there. My hair wash was a speedy, rushed experience, and my haircut lasted probably under 10 minutes. The longest part was the blowout, and who cares about that? I’d rather leave with my hair wet and get an actual cut where I’m not embarassed by it! I“m not impressed by the cut; I’m embarrassed by my bangs; and annoyed with the service. I could have gone to SuperCuts for that type of experience. It makes me wonder what salons are thinking. We have so many in the area, and there’s so much competition. Don’t you want that repeat business? As a newer salon, why would you go out of your way to be so unwelcoming overall? then butcher a haircut and shrug your shoulders when the cutsomer is clearly distressed about it? Way to go, Blend. I won’t be back.
