Specialties
Public tours of these two very different NTBG gardens are offered daily.
The gardens feature tropical plants, some that cannot be seen anywhere else in the world. McBryde Garden is NTBG’s flagship garden and includes the world’s largest collection of native Hawaiian species, many threatened by extinction in the wild. The smaller Allerton Garden is a former private estate, with statuary and water features tucked among the plants.
History
Established in 1970.
McBryde Garden and the adjacent Allerton Garden are part of the nonprofit National Tropical Botanical Garden. Both of these gardens are located in the Lawai Valley. Public tours are available daily.
Check-in and transport into these valleys gardens are at NTBG’s Southshore Visitors Center, 4425 Lawai Road, Poipu (across from Spouting Horn).
