Love this hike! There’s a few options and we did trail A. Took a leisurely two hours to complete. Pretty chilly when we went in mid December so I can imagine how much better it would be in warm weather! Would love to explore the other trails!

My husband and I have walked and biked here starting late last summer and my repeated reaction is that I regret we didn’t know about it sooner. The shady, wind-protected trail is popular but wide enough to share. There is ample parking. The lock houses are available for rental and we were able to peek inside during one of their open houses. This is a fantastic trail if you want an easy hike or bike ride, like history, and/or photography.

The road and bridge to the parking areas and boat ramps are much better after the multi-million dollar improvement project two years ago. The trail is easy to get to now and is a nice ride. Beware of rednecks and out of county cyclists. And most if all the death trap railway crossing. That thing will get you killed real quick if you’re not watching it.
