My friend and I were enjoying lunch here we ordered two meals an appetizer and two beers. Everything was going well and the food was good until we kept getting stares from one customer along with the woman working behind the counter. She continued to stare at us and talk to this loud customer about us until they approached us saying that we were taking up too much space by sitting there(mind you we had already spent $ 60 and were about to spend even more by ordering more food and drinks). They started screaming at us saying that families needed to sit and that we should get up, even though there were plenty of seats and tables outside and we were about to order more food. The old women with the blue eyeliner and horrible attitude continued to scream at us along with the rude customer(a grown man who was screaming at two young girls) until we decided to leave. This was the most disgusting inappropriate unprofessional situation I’ve ever been in. Besides the food being okay I cannot ever bring myself to step foot in a place that employs horrible people. This women is a terrible person and should not be working in the customer service industry. If I could give negative stars I would.

I’ve been here two times, my first time being a good experience but nothing special. The second time, when I actually spent more time here was a disaster. My friend and I were sitting enjoying our meals and halfway through basically got screamed at by a customer along with an old women who works here. They both wanted us to leave so that other people could sit, even though there was more seating outside. The man who was screaming at us was also boasting about how he was best friends with the owner(the old mean women backing him up). So I guess if you’re not a local here then you aren’t welcome! Disgusting place, won’t ever return.

Yesterday(amidst an hour’s worth of traffic) I traveled south for some seafood and luckily once I got there I wasn’t disappointed. This clam bar isn’t anything special to look at, but gives you exactly what one should expect(which is a slightly tattered, nautical and rustic look). There are tables outside on the left of the building and a few inside along with the order window and fish market, but the real place to sit is down the walkway on the right which gives you a nice view of the water and whatever fishing boats might be passing by. Before tackling the food, I will say the valet parking is a bit much for a clam bar so with it being such a nice day out I parked up the street and walked over. But who cares about parking. Let’s talk about food. I came with an empty stomach which probably wasn’t a good idea as I ordered a clam strips appetizer and linguini in white clam sauce(which comes with a few pieces of garlic bread). The strips were very tender and I didn’t run into anything chewy. Dipped in a little tangy tarter sauce made them close to perfect. As for the pasta, it had a great clammy flavor to the sauce and the bits of garlic complimented it. My only gripe were with some of the chopped clam pieces(which were a little chewy). Beyond that, I’d say when you want a laid back meal and some good seafood, come to The Point Lookout Clam Bar.

Recommended by a local friend. Order up at the window and then they will call you when your food is ready. We sat bayside and enjoyed dining alfresco. Food was good, but prices were a little high for what you got. But, it’s the price you pay for location. I really enjoyed my lobster taco. Fries and coleslaw were really good too. Wish they had more salad options. What’s considered a Greek salad, was not really a Greek salad, but some iceberg lettuce, peppers, black olives and shrimp.(My son ordered it with chicken and he was too hungry that he started eating most of it, when he realized. There were no stuffed grape leaves, etc, commonly found in a Greek salad. Not much for him to eat. anyway, we would Go back if in the area. my other son really enjoyed his New England clam chowder.

Nice venue by the water, but I ordered the lobster roll and it wasn’t good. The lobster was lacking and it actually tasted like tuna salad. The roll sub-par: somewhat toasted but not soft and buttery like it should be. Waste of $ 20.

An absolute joke and poor excuse for a clam bar. Jointly owned with the next door Fisher Mans Catch these guys have no reason to care about what they serve up. Sea food is on the whole deep fried and tasteless, the Greek salad was the worst we’ve ever been served(would have made airport salads look good). The outside patio provides you with a great view of not only two ugly garbage bins, which we later found out were for customer rubbish, but also the sushi chefs smoking in between preparing food. All of this not so wonderful service and food at sky high prices. It’s a shame as this place could be so great.

The sushi and lobster bisque are delicious but the seafood is bland and a little over priced. The woman who takes orders at the window is unfriendly… not just having one bad day unfriendly but out of the five times I’ve been there(I live up the street) she has never been welcoming or even cracked a smile. I’ll stick to the sushi and fish market attached to the place.

I really really don’t see how great this place is, everything is expensive and comparable to manhattan pricing and it’s out in the open with no AC or any sort of service(self served). It seems like the two restaurant next door are either owned by the same person or at lest it gets supplied by the same boat. Those two places looks like it has services which I’ll try another time. $ 20 for a lobster roll that was mediocre, I saw them«making» it, taking out a tupperware from the fridge and scooping lobsters into the roll, done. Came with family so we ordered a lot, also ordered a plate of sushi, sure it seemed fine but the price didn’t justify it, also had the lobster and oysters buckets. We spent approx $ 300+ for 6 adults and honestly, I don’t get it! All the food were made out of this tiny kitchen(open for view) with 3 people. Sure ultimately the food was fine, I didn’t get sick and they were decent but for that pricing I could’ve went else where with AC and services, this place is NOT cheap.

What a terrific place for fast, great seafood. Located in the seaside town of Point Lookout, surrounded by ocean breezes, you can have a really great dinner in shorts and tee shirts.

This place was ok. It wasn’t anything amazing. The calamari starter was served on shredded lettuce. The salmon burger was just a salmon Patty on a bun with coleslaw and shoestring french fries on the side. The fried fillet was not great. The one good thing was that there was plenty of seating and you had the option of buying seafood and sushi.

It was exactly what we wanted. We were tending towards a more upscale restaurant, maybe a return to Peter’s on the way home, but felt(and looked more casual) after a day on the beach. We wanted a shack and happened upon this one. We wanted to snack at this mid-late afternoon rather than have an all out, gut busting feast. We ordered a dozen clams on half shell and the mussels marinara. Clams were local and fresh little necks as were the mussels. Interestingly the mussels were the smallest I’ve ever had served to me, yet surprisingly plump and meaty. I’ve had far larger shelled mussels with far less meat. They were tender(not overcooked) and sweet and would have been near perfection without any sauce at all. Service was fine, young kids, no «crone» on the premises. Spoke with one of the owners who is a fisherman. I unequivocally support local fisherman who seek to provide us with fresh local fish. They have it rough with ridiculous regulations that make no sense and seem designed to put them out of business. OK, gonna change the 4 stars to 5. We will return.

The food is okay for the type of restaurant it is. The restaurant is kind of pricey though so beware when actually placing your order.

The crispy clam strips appetizer were fried to perfection, absolutely crunchy with no grease. The lobster tacos were also amazing. Noticeable sizes and portions of lobster, with a hint of spicy on the bottom and absolutely fresh with just a hint of mayonnaise with the lettuce. So are the french fries… fried to perfection, with no extra grease or oil with a perfect touch of sea salt. The coleslaw is very healthy and fresh, with not a lot of mayonnaise. Even the lettuce on the bottom of each dish along with each lemon slice, were extremely fresh. Everything… the appetizers and main dishes were all extremely fresh down to the lettuce as garish and the lemons quarters. In addition, they make the food very quickly and the location is very clean.

Came here with a groupon which made the prices pretty good but actual price a bit less attractive. Ordered for 2 adults and 2 kids. $ 50 total Appetizer of fried calamari — $ 10 not bad in terms of portion but was fried a tad bit too long. Came on a bed of shredded lettuce with marinara sauce. Chicken sandwich for the kids — $ 8 came with fries, Cole slaw, Salad(lettuce and chopped tomato). Nice hefty toasted bun with a still juicy fried chicken patty. Feels like the frozen ones but not sure. I liked the bite I had and the kids did too. Nothing amazing but not bad. The bf and I shared two seafood rolls: we each had half of the lobster roll $ 18 and half of the crab and shrimp roll $ 14. The lobster roll was pretty good. I would order that again. The crab sandwich is a big N-O. It is imitation crab meat and no shrimp!!! Each sandwich came with fries, cole slaw and salad. We had to ask for tap water but no problem there. Friendly service(order at the counter and pick up your food when the number is called), no valet when we came(April) but lot was full so we parked on the side street(1hr parking). Only one bathroom so I can see that being a problem when it’s summer time and super busy but it was fine when we came. Condiments and utensils are located in the attached seafood market. All in all a good time but not sure if I’d come back with out groupon. Baked clams looked good and so did grilled fish.

We were in point lookout birdwatching, and they had a groupon so I tried figuring how do you mess up fried seafood. Well, I was wrong… I could only imagine how furious I would have been if I paid full price on their overpriced garbage. We would have complained about the portion on the fried shrimp(8 shrimp that would be generous to be called 31⁄35 count for $ 16), but given that they were fried to near inedibility it was probably a good thing. I’m not even sure if it was only overcooking that made them tough tough and chalky tasting, but for sure they were overcooked to death, surprising since we were the only ones there so clearly they just don’t care. The ‘cocktail’ sauce was indistinguishable from ketchup, while the tarter was basically mayonaise with a few flecks of relish. The steam ‘littlenecks’ were okay, but I wouldn’t call a clam more then 2 inches in diameter a littleneck, and not surprisingly they were overly chewy. Lobster roll was probably the best item of the three we ordered, only slightly overcooked and an okay portion, but for whatever reason in was served on a huge eggy roll, with butter? oil? put on the top of the roll. Even better was the ambiance; the crone behind the counter was complaining so loudly that it was hard to carry on a conversation at my own table. I’m sure she had nothing better to do, seeing as the place was filthy and none of the tables had a complete set of condiments.

I love this place. Not fancy. Great seafood. Today I had the clam bake, which consisted of a 1 ½ lb lobster, a pound each of steamers & steamed mussels, corn on the cob, and cole slaw… Awesome.

$ 42 for a fried fish filet with fries, ‘grilled’ calamari, a roll of sushi, and three bottles of water. The filet is dry, the calamari is chewy, greasy and sticky with specks and crumbs from who knows what, and the sushi is… ok. I think the only reason anyone comes to these three restaurants is to valet park their car in the only available parking in all of Point Lookout so they can get out of their car and see the wonderful view that everyone talks about. No, seriously, everywhere else is residential streets proclaiming No Parking. And the view is not that big a deal. Sure it’s different from Long Beach 5 miles away: see some boats, a sandbar, two baseball fields, a ton of seaweed and rocks, and some nice houses that show this community has really picked up after Hurricane Sandy… or something. Still not as big a deal as they make it out to be. Just as good as Long Beach, only more isolated and deserted looking. I’m pretty sure that was their intention, as the commercial fare and parking seems extremely limited to this small line of four restaurants/bars/bait and tackle shops. Let’s leave them alone, then!

I am extremely disappointed in this seafood shack. The food was bland and tasteless. The prices were higher than I would expect from a shack. But oddly enough the one thing that has got me worked up more than anything else is the valet. And instead of addressing the possible future customer in this review, I’d like to speak to the owners/operators on this one. The Point Lookout Clam Bar is a seafood shack. Not an upscale restaurant. Not even a restaurant with table service. Not even a busy area with scant parking. It’s a shack with two parking lots directly by your establishment. You should not have a valet on a Saturday afternoon. Or ever. It makes no sense. When a patron comes to a seafood shack, they do not expect to have to pay for parking unless it’s a metered spot. To have a valet makes it seem like your scamming people out of money. What’s worse is that on this day, both parking lots were monopolized by the valet, effectively preventing a patron from parking themselves unless they were lucky enough to score one of three spots on the public street in front of the shack. I had been so lucky and proceeded to do so. Despite my good timing and self-parking, the valet STILL asked for a tip as I left the shack. Seriously? To make it worse, he asked for it as if he earned it by providing«protection» or some other perceived service. What a racket. Frankly speaking, I’m not returning to your establishment. I was not kidding earlier when I mentioned the bland and tasteless food. But to stop from losing another customer and save yourself from this bizarre practice for a seafood shack, I implore you, get rid of the valet.

Maybe it doesn’t seem sporting to mention the long, slow-moving ordering line, or the shorter line for the single-stall bathroom. Recognizing that crowds often assemble for a reason, I feel like they could have handled the logistics better. I was leaning toward a fried seafood combo until I saw they had a mako shark special. The post-ordering wait wasn’t a bad. I got the Manhattan clam chowder. It didn’t rewrite the history of chowder but it was a good soup, one with actual clams in it. The sides(rice and cole slaw) were mundane, but the fish was very impressive. It was a large, meaty item that sort of resembled swordfish. The texture was perfect.
