Screw these guys. Sitting here in the parking lot seething. Asked for a single menu substitution(chicken instead of burger) and the lil pimply faced nerd slurred«we can’t do that»…There was literally no one else in the restaurant at all. He offered to add a chicken on top of the burger jut he couldn’t swap them out. Cool rules bro… You went from potentially actually having a customer(let alone the potential for a repeat customer) to having pissed someone off to the point of telling everyone he knows to avoid your restaurant at all costs. #CustomerService

Such a bad customer service. This lady working there, was in such a rush in an almost empty Resturant which was annoying. We asked her did few minutes and then when we were ready to order, she was taking her time. After she decided to come and take our order, Rudely she tell us to talk while she isn’t even at the register yet. I wanted to tell her something but didn’t and tried let it go. she took out order and went to the kitchen and came back telling me that they were out of garlic shrimp at noon she recommended the fish which was not good at all. I only ate the cabbage salad n pasta and that is all.

Super good food! I ordered lunch for our team at work(about 50 people) and everyone raved about the food(which is rare). We had the BBQ chicken, Katsu chicken, grilled fish, fried Lumpia, mac salad, steamed rice, fried veggie saimen, steamed veggies. Everything was fresh and extremely flavorful. We will have them again for sure The lunch was delivered and there is a delivery charge but it was well worth it.

There was only one table occupied… which should have been a sign to go elsewhere. Unfortunately I won’t be coming back… the Hawaiian BBQ chicken was not fresh and undercooked, and possibly old. I need to get ready for bed, but after having eaten here… my stomach is in pain. I am now experiencing an upset stomach after my purchase of the Hawaiian BBQ chicken. The texture of it wasn’t normal and tasted undercooked. Moreover,…to find thin, flat and burnt black pieces of SOMETHING? clinging onto the skin… is very odd and shouldn’t be eaten. I have eaten BBQ chicken before and never had these ‘things” on my food. Rule of thumb… if you don’t see many people in the restaurant… go somewhere to eat… no people means no turnaround of food. No turnaround of food means uncooked food that may be old from sitting in the fridge. Sorry but the freshness and quality of food was lacking and the broccoli was not fully washed clean as I found something on my broccoli as well that should not have been there. And my stomach is STILL turning in knots. I suspect I have a stomach upset from the food I ate from here.

Don’t waste your time. This is NOT an authentic, hole in the wall worth spending your money for and stuffing your face with lots of carbs restaurant. Day we came in, the food was not even edible. The chicken teriyaki was dry and tasted old. How do I know that? Because we always order our chicken teri with sauce on the side so we can taste the chicken BEFORE it’s covered in sweet sauce. It just wasn’t even worth eating. The lau lau was also not worth it. Dry like it had been steaming for days. Soda machines also had an off taste… and, on this particular day, it was so hot that the owners couldn’t even provide what little patrons they had sitting in its restaurant with AC. Really? One of my biggest peeves especially since it was soooo uncomfortable trying to eat this bad food, drink this uncarbonated sweet soda, all while trying to swat the mass of flies that are in the restaurant because it’s easier and cheaper to prop the door open!!! Don’t waste your money, you’re better off wasting it at L&L if you want to compare subpar to subpar mediocre food.
We’ve been here a number of times and the food is pretty good, but the poor customer service by the owner is very disappointing, thus the downgrade of my previous review from 4 to 3 stars. Tonight I stopped by to order take-out wanted to try a dish that I had not tried before so I ordered two orders of the«fried» saimin with BBQ chicken. I went to next door to Raley’s to buy a couple items and returned to pick up my order. I confirmed with the cashier that it was«fried» saimin and left for home. When I got home, I discovered that the«fried» saimin was actually«soup» saimin and drove back to Ohana to get the right order. The young male cashier was very apologetic and agreed that it was his mistake. He offered to replace our orders at his own expense. I was uncomfortable about him having to pay for the replacement order, but before I could object, he took the noodles back into the kitchen to explain the situation to the cook. The owner immediately came out to talk to me. Here is where my disappointment begins. First the owner tried to put the blame on me by saying, «Didn’t you notice that the noodles were in a bowl and not a box?» I explained that it was the first time I had ordered this item and that I did ask the cashier before I left the restaurant if he was sure they were the«fried» style saimin. She then wanted my receipt(I had only been there about 15 minutes before) which I was scrambling to find since I paid cash. The cashier found the store copy and the owner then went to another restaurant and said that I would owe another $ 4.49 since the«fried» saimin was $ 2 more than the«soup» saimin. I paid the extra money, but thought about mentioning that maybe she should give me credit at $.57 per mile plus my time for having to return to get the correct order. Since there were other guests in the restaurant, I decided not to make a big deal of it there, but I would mention it in my updated Unilocal review. I wish there were other options for Hawaiian food close by, but the other Hawaiian restaurants are on the other side of town. So because the food is good, I’ll probably continue to get food at Ohana, but I really wish the owner was more welcoming and appreciative of her customers. Fortunately she hires very good staff so if she just stays in the background, they will do a good job serving the customers.

I wish this place was good because it’s around the corner from my house. I have been here about five times hoping it would get better. Serving size is very small half the size if you would get at L&L. Barbecue chicken is never cooked enough and the skin is robbery. All of their fish is frozen and pre-battered. There Laulau are frozen imports from Hawaii and they taste frozen. You’re better off driving across town and going to L&L.

The BBQ chicken combo — which includes their awesome mac salad — is top-notch. The chicken is usually done just right and the sauce is mighty tasty. This place is a weekly stop… The Spam Masubi also is quite good(only had better in the Islands).

Breakdown of their food, service and quality: food– depends on what you get: Spam Masubi — 4.5 stars, a little too much rice Chicken BBQ — 4 stars pretty good, well seasoned and cooked. good portion garlic shrimp — 2 stars way overcooked and not enough flavor Salad — 1 star horrible, broccoli and tomatoes went bad but they still served it! When I told them about it, they said sorry and told us they could replace it with another salad which I declined. It’s likely premade and all gone bad. instead, we got shaved ice(snow ice). rainbow snow — 4 stars texture is great. same as Hawaii! but I am taking a star off because the rainbow was the jelly and the flavor of the snow wasnt what i expected. I think i am going to go back and try the oreo or any other flavor next time. mango ice cream — 5 stars, they serve leord’s ice cream and the texture was wonderful. flavor was pretty right on. i loved it. service — 3 stars. they only offered to exchange the salad out for something else when we asked for it. she was young, she wasnt really taught to service which is fine. this place is a self serve place, although i still like to tip. i would go back for the chicken and hawaiian snows, ice creams only…

I’d give this place a no star if I could. There are several Ohana BBQ places in the bay and this one is the worst. All the rest are pretty good. I ate… I should say I tried to eat a kalua pig and cabbage bowl with rice. The kalua pig was too stringy and had too much liquid smoke in the preparation of it. I realize that kalua pig is supposed to be shredded, but not stringy. The rice was not cooked all the way, more like less than al dente. The best part of the meal we bought, was the BBQ chicken. It was tasty enough for a BBQ joint. All in all I would not go back to this Ohana BBQ.

The food is okay but my ribs were tough and saltier than what I make. I suspect they make a bunch and keep them around for awhile since the salt makes them last for a long time. Rice was dry too. But the chicken was tender and fresher than the ribs and tasty too. Prices were reasonable.

My boyfriend and I love Hawaiian BBQ and we usually go to L&L because it is close to my house in San Jose. However, we were in this area and what a wonderful surprise Ohana Hawaiian BBQ was. I personally liked this place better than L&L. The food here is more consistent and the prices are a little cheaper as well. I think the portions may be a little smaller though, but I am not sure. And now to the food! I ordered the Chicken Curry Katsu, which was really yummy, but I should have tried the Volcano Chicken because I like spicy food. The cashier told me that it was a little sweet so I was a little off put, but the next time I go I will get that. My boyfriend ordered the Hawaiian BBQ Mix which I was very jealous about. It was so delicious and packed full of flavor. There was a perfect mix of all the different types of meat. It was so perfect!

Gross food, waste of money. Instead of Ohana, it should be called«No, honey!,» and yes I know what Ohana means. Got take out since it is close to home. We had the BBQ beef and BBQ chicken sandwiches. Both had cheap, fatty meats that went to waste after only a few bites. I ate more of the accompanying fries because at least they were decent. The lumpia were pretty tasty and the brown rice was good. Those are the only positive things about our meal here. I was still hungry and had to scrounge the cupboards for my actual dinner. Maybe their other items are better but I won’t be back to find out.

Half hearted attempt at Hawaiian food. Food: Loco moco patty was dry, overcooked, and lacked flavor. Came with reheated frozen vegetables. Gravy was too thick and joined the rice to make a lumpy abomination. Spam saimin. Pretty hard to mess up right? Aside from the spam, everything in the bowl was bland. Also served with reheated frozen veggies. Musubi — it was ok. White rice, meat, seaweed. Same meat as BBQ or spam. Shave snow — if you’ve tried it elsewhere you will be disappointed with this one. Small portion. The service was friendly but slow. Clean tables and bathrooms. Hawaiian sodas in fridge. Sadly, L&L on the other side of town has the edge here. They are still new so maybe they can work out the kinks. Good luck.

GOHERE, IFYOUCAN! This place is outstanding, in all aspects of the word! For not a penny more than $ 15, my mom and I split a #2 Seafood BBQ Combo($ 9.25), including 2 scoops of rice, a scoop of macaroni salad, 3 battered shrimp, a cut of fried fish, and a choice of BBQ ribs, chicken or something else(that I don’t remember). Even though we ate there, they still gave us the plastic to-go container, so I guess they don’t have alternate serving plates, as I would hope. Both the shrimp and fish have a generous layer of crispy breading and the BBQ ribs have a great flavor. We also had the Tropical Forest shaved snow($ 4.50), which is mango snow with pineapple pieces, passionfruit jelly, and regular mochi. I’m not usually a big fan of fruity, over milky, but this was pretty darn delicious. All of the toppings provided complimentary textures that made me crave the next bite. This split meal was the perfect size to properly satisfy my mom and I, even though we were pretty hungry. I love the bright paint that covers the walls and the cashier was extremely helpful as well. For the record, the bathroom is super clean, if you need it. Also, even though you order and pay for your food at the cashier, they bring it to you at the table, which is nice. As we were leaving, a man parking his car asked if the food was any good, to which I replied, «It’s delicious! And make sure you try the shaved snow!» He was a little taken aback by my enthusiasm, but I really loved my experience! The only thing other than the plastic containers for«here» that I regret is that I don’t live closer. I will most certainly come here any time I’m remotely in the area.

The first time I walked in, I thought the dining area was very spacious. I’ve never seen a Hawaiian place so spacious before. The lady who took my order was very patient with me since I was ordering a bunch of food. I didn’t know whether to order the short ribs, or chicken, curry katsu, or the seafood one. She was giving me suggestions and I ended up ordering the Curry Chicken Katsu and the Short Beef Ribs — the FOODWASAMAZING. Their mac salad and the rice was delicious. The rice was soft and not hard at all. My dad had gotten the short ribs, he enjoyed it a lot. My mom got the BBQ pork, she’s a rather picky eater but she really loved the BBQ pork and even asked the owner how to make it. Of course, it’s probably a secret. After eating and drinking, I saw they had another menu to the side near the ice cream. I didn’t know what shaved ice was, I thought it was like the snow cone type of shaved ice. They suggested taro shaved ice. I got the taro one for my mom and I ordered the strawberry banana. Let me tell you, the shaved ice is amazing, I’ve never had something so delicious before. They use real strawberries and ice cream. Nothing is powdered or fake. Everything they used were real ingredients. Overall, I had a very good experience there, if I could give more than 5 stars, I would. I would definitely be back there if I am in the area. For those in the area during the county fair, be sure to hit up this place if you’re craving for Hawaiian BBQ!!! They also have lumpia(super crunchy and not that oily), potstickers too. And don’t forget the smoothies(real ingredients), Milk Tea with bobas… they have fresh ingredients as their toppings too! I would def make a trip out there if I am craving some gooooood Hawaiian BBQ! I am also going to recommend this to all my friends!
