The owner can be quite cantankerous, but hey… free booze is free booze. Ribs are good too!

Nestled in the suburbs of Pleasanton. Camouflaged between dozens of ticky tacky homes sits this private and very exclusive Pub. It’s an «by invitation only» place where only a hand full of people get selected each year to visit. The selection process is reminiscent of the movie«Eyes Wide Shut.» The first step in the invitation and selection process begins by either knowing someone who’s in the know or, being recognized as a stellar and devoted member of a fraternity or community organization such as; the Free and Accepted Masons, the Elks or the Rotary. Next, your sponsor shares the address and directions with you. All of which must be told in a low tone or whispered in your ear so others can’t hear. Lastly, your given a preselected date and time to visit and your instructed that, cancellation is not acceptable but, if the date affects your duty or obligation owed to your family or self, another date could be requested. I was also told arriving five minutes early was considered being on time and, arriving on time would constitute tardiness and would be grounds for an automatic revocation of my invite. ** can you say twilight zone type s**t ** The date and time selected for me was on Friday, December 6, 2013 @ 6:30PM. FYI, I arrived early on my designed date but unfortunately was told, I couldn’t communicate by any means of speech, writing, photo’s or signing where Jackson’s Pub is or, any of my visiting experiences. It is safe to share this thought. In all my years of travels, both here and abroad, I have never seen a place as elegant or felt the warmth and welcome that I did once at Jackson’s. I really wish I could share the details of my experiences but, I took an oath of secrecy before leaving that night. I was told if I maintained the secret then, next year(2014) I could tap someone(my choice) so they can see, share and carry on the experience I was fortunate to have been invited to see. To my sponsor Curt. Words aren’t and could never be enough to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation for my tap. You allowed me to see first hand what it truly means by the saying«share the wealth.» This was an experience that can’t be duplicated or ever forgotten. Thanks again from the bottom my brother.

This is a private kind of place and the owners are very hospitable. The ambience is classy yet casual. Food delicious, drinks even better. Especially the Stella.
