I had my screens installed by Lou and his team. (I actually communicated with Lou via email and phone), but someone else came out to do the install of my retractable screen doors for my French Doors. (I believe his name was James)
Anyway, everything went fine and screens look great and function well. One screen door has a sliding lock which was recommended by them and an additional charge. I asked if two locks were necessary (one for each screen, but was assured no, since they told me only one was needed to hold one of the screen doors in place).
However after a few months of use, I noticed was my kids would pull or push the screens open and the one that didn’t have the slidng lock would snap back very quickly (there is a lot of tension on them) and scare the heck out of them not to mention potentially causing injury to them and damage to the actual screen.(fortunately neither have happened because we stopped using our screen door for this very reason).
I contacted Lou again via phone and email to see if I can get a second sliding lock installed for the other screen door. No response. Several weeks went by. Tried him again via phone and email and finally after literally 6+ months or so he emailed back stating the cost would be $ 25.00 for the lock and $ 50.00 for the service/​install call.
I told him I was in no rush (obviously since close to a year had passed at this point in time) and anytime he would be in the area he could come by and install or drop off the part or mail the part and I’d pay the $ 25 (even though the part probably costs less than $ 5 – it’s just a piece of plastic). I could install it myself and save $ 50 on the service call.
That was July 2015. Still no response.
Anyway, Lou and his team respond great when making a sale, but for follow up it doesn’t seem so. You figure if you spend close to a $ 800 you’d get better follow up support and customer service. Guess not.
Now we have great looking retractable screen doors that don’t get used.

Found NorCal genius screen on Unilocal.I contacted Lou by email and got fast response the next day. Bret came over and did the install about a week later. Great job guys! Really happy with my single door retractable screen! Just have to remember not to run into it :-)

Before I moved to California all I heard about was the weather, weather, weather. Now I totally get it! It is almost always awesome! Genius Screens have allowed us to take full advantage of that glorious breeze. We had two doors installed and have been able to reduce our air conditioning use since installing them. We have had these doors for 4 months now and have not had any issues.

So easy — we called Genius screens at 10am and had our new double screen door installed by 2:30pm. How great is that?! They explained everything well over the phone and there were no surprises during the install. I literally opened the back gate, showed the installer the door and went to run some errands while my wife waited at home. When I got back, the screen door was done. We’re excited about having our doors open more now and letting the fresh cool fall air in.

I LOVE my screen doors! We had them installed last year in our front door and back porch. Open them up in the evening and it really cools down the house. If anything, when closed, it looks like there is no screen there if you are not paying attention. My boys have accidentally walked too fast into them and I just recently had Bret come out to fix it. Not only did he fix it, I had him install one more screen on the spot. Lou and Bret are so prompt, professional and nice. I highly recommend them!

I came across Genius Screens through Unilocal,and they did not disappoint. I originally spoke with Lou, who was very friendly and knowledgeable, and thoroughly explained the options for my french doors. Lou set up my installation within a few days, and Bret came to install my retractable screen. Bret built/​tailored the screen to my french doors onsite and completed the installation in about 90 mins! Bret was prompt, professional, and efficient. Now, I can finally enjoy a cool breeze out of my bedroom; in fact, the french doors stay open almost all the time since it’s been so hot. The retractable screen looks amazing and is high quality, and I love the adobe colored trim that I chose.

Bret installed retracting screens on our double french doors. He arrived on time, did a very professional job and finished on time. The screens are great, very tidy install and they work perfectly. We’re now enjoying a nice cooling breeze without the bugs!

Casper Screens of Norcal installed a sliding screen door for us at the front door of our home.
It was a great experience from the time I made my first call to the installation of door. Price is right for the quality they deliver. The installer who came was very professional, courteous and patient.

I called two other companies, Lou of Casper Screens was the only one to return my calls and the only one who would quote over the phone. Bret arrived on time, was very polite, installed in 1 ½. Works like it should. Explained what could wrong if anything. All-​in-​all, I believed I dealt with very honest, family business.

Once again, I am impressed. We have had the screens for a few years now and just love them. I had a small issue with one of the screens, I called on a Sunday and it was fixed on Tuesday and at a very reasonable fee.
We have always dealt with Lou and he always makes us feel like we are the only customer he has.

I thank the fellow Unilocalers to guide me to this company. They are as good as the reviews here show. They are very forthright and upfront on total cost and do job exactly as they say. I needed 3 retractable screens for my 3 double doors. I e-​mailed and Lou quoted a price in the e-​mail and said they can come over and custom fit the screen as they have their workshop in the van. After I got the doors installed, I e-​mailed again asking for available dates. As Lou is on vacation, Brett answered back and told me he can come over in a couple of days and install them. Brett came over this morning on time and after giving me a work order for the amount we agreed on, he proceeded to assemble and fit the screens. He was done with all the three screens in about 5 hours. He is pleasant and polite and told me exactly what he was going to do and did that. Everything worked out nice. We recently installed French doors and wanted to install disappearing sliding screen doors which we saw on one of the HGTV remodeling shows. We contacted the guys at Casper Norcal after seeing an ad in Home Concepts magazine. I e-​mailed them the dimensions of the door and Lou was very prompt with providing a quote. We set up an appointment and the installer Brett came right on time. After selecting the color he started and in less than 2 hours the new screen doors were installed. Brett spent time going over the warranties and best practices for maintaining the mechanism in the doors. Overall my entire experience with the Casper Norcal was outstanding and the quality of the installation and the doors exceeded my expectations. Overall I highly recommend Casper Norcal.

Besides being COMPLETELY happy with the quality of the Casper Screen Doors, I was completely impressed by every bit of contact I’ve had with the folks from this company — Lou, the owner and James, the gentleman who installed the screen doors. They were extremely service minded and unpretentious. James’ work and sensibility was excellent and he did an outstanding job installing the screen doors.
I received a quote from Lou over the phone which was an honest and final quote. James came the next day with the product in his truck to do a home demonstration without any hard sale, whatsoever. Each truck is a workshop, so he was ready to install the screens right then and there. We had already done our «homework» and knew these were the best screens in the business. James installed them within an hour and a half.
Today was the first time we were able to open our patio doors onto a beautiful day, keeping our indoor cats — indoors. What a pleasure!
