We are a full service pediatric cardiology practice which cares for hearts of children of all ages — from fetus to young adult. Our specialty programs include our Congenital and Acquired Cardiac Lab, Athletic Cardiology, Fetal Cardiology, Cardiac Nutrition (Kids in Action & Athletes in Action Programs) and Dysautonomia.

History

Established in 2001.

Heart of the Valley Pediatric Cardiology opened it’s doors for practice in 2001 at a clinic set up at the ValleyCare Medical Center in Pleasanton. At the same time, satellite clinics were set up in Fremont and at the San Mateo Medical Center. Within the first year, additional satellite clinics were set up in Tracy and Brentwood. In 2009, Heart of the Valley built a new clinic down the road from ValleyCare on Coronado Lane. The Kids in Action Nutrition Activity Program began in 2005 and is now run by April Shabazz and Sarah Wayne. Dr. Christina Sheridan joined the practice in 2013.

Dr. Maxwell is a Board Certified Pediatric Cardiologist and Pediatrician. He received his medical degree from Johns Hopkins Medical School in 1989 and subsequently completed a Residency in Pediatrics at The University of California at San Francisco, his fellowships in Pediatric Cardiology at Lucile Salter Packard and Stanford Hospitals, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia from 1993 to 2000.

Dr. Sheridan is board certified in both general pediatrics and pediatric cardiology. She studied medicine at New York Medical College. She was given the Cor et Manus award upon graduation for excellence in clinical service and then completed her pediatric residency and chief year at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, New York, and pediatric cardiology fellowship at the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF). She has been in private practice since 2007. Her clinical interests include fetal and transthoracic echocardiography, primary prevention of obesity and sports medicine.
