Jolin Patrick V, MD

Dr Jolin is very compassionate, knowledgeable and an awesome Dr. I would recommend him anytime, and I trust his opinions and his skills as a physician.

I guess Dr. Jolin is hit or miss.
On the recommendation of a friend, I saw him last year a couple of times and found him to be compassionate, kind, and curious about what ailed me. I was comforted. My insurance changed and I didn’t see him for a while. Recently I had experienced some very serious health concerns, and my insurance had changed again so I went back to see him. It turned out that he did not feel comfortable helping me with what I had come to him for (a letter expressing that I was physically able to do a desk job) despite the fact that he could examine me as I was in his office as well as my medical history, which I had brought with me. That’s fine, I wouldn’t have been upset if that had been the end of it. But… unfortunately, I was the last appointment of the day, the day before his week off for Thanksgiving, and he was running late. Instead of providing me with this information with the same compassion I had experienced previously, he was extremely brusque in that he barely even looked at me, said «mhmm» multiple times during my sentences so that I felt hurried along, and was simply rude when he reported to me that «you can’t possibly think I can help you with this. I don’t know anything about what is wrong with you, I haven’t examined you, I can’t do it, you need to talk to your neurologist.» The tone of this statement is difficult to impart on a Unilocal review, but I was crying by the end of this statement. Then he walked out.
Again, not because of what was being expressed, but the manner of it. He did have the decency to not collect my copay, and he offered me a referral to a local neurologist (which I refused – I have one, I just couldn’t access her at that moment, thats why I was there) but I cried all the way home I was so hurt. It’s one thing to deliver news the patient doesn’t want to hear, but I got the distinct impression he knew exactly what he was making me feel and didn’t really care to take a different approach.

Dr Jolin is a very concerned, conscientious, professional, and caring doctor. We’ve had him for years, and appreciate the truly personal care. We can always get in when we need to see him. He responds quickly to requests. We are never rushed, and feel he truly cares about us, our family, and our health.
