The Gracie Fighter Pleasant Hill Academy is a center for Brazilian Jiu-​Jitsu training. Cesar Gracie, the main instructor, is known worldwide as a legend in Brazilian Jiu-​Jitsu and MMA instruction. On the mats of the academy, students of all levels learn the art of Brazilian Jiu-​Jitsu under the tutelage of Cesar and his top students. This style has been proven as the most effective in fighting competitions (UFC, etc) as well as on the street and Cesar is widely recognized as one of the world’s best instructors. Cesar personally teaches all the MMA classes at the academy and many of the other classes. He is well known for providing personal feedback and instruction to all students, many of whom are top competitors in Jiu-​Jitsu and MMA. Jiu-​Jitsu, by nature functions as an anti-​oxidant. Practicing it relieves stress and anxiety while improving health through a vigorous aerobic and anaerobic exercise.

Prior to Jake Shields’ UFC signing in 2010, Cesar Gracie Jiu-​Jitsu housed champions in three of five weight classes in the Strikeforce promotion. This success helped Cesar Gracie secure a position among the nominees for «Coach of the Year» at the Fighters Only 2010 World MMA Awards

Gracie received his black belt from his uncle Carlos Robson Gracie on February 15, 1992. At that time, Robson headed the Brazilian Jiu-​Jitsu Federation. In 1996, Gracie received another certificate from his other uncle Carlos Gracie Jr., founder of Confederação Brasileira de Jiu-​Jitsu (CBJJ) and son of Carlos Gracie who, along with brother Helio Gracie, were the co-​founders of «Gracie Jiu-​Jitsu», also known as Brazilian Jiu-​Jitsu. Gracie was the 3rd Gracie in North America to open a Gracie Jiu-​Jitsu Gym (the first was his uncle Carley Gracie in 1972[1] and his cousin Rorion Gracie in 1978.[2] Gracie’s students include black belts David Terrell, former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion Jake Shields[3] and former Strikeforce Welterweight Champion Nick Diaz, Nate Diaz who won The Ultimate Fighter 5, brown belts Bret Bergmark, Caleb Mitchell and the final Strikeforce Lightweight Champion Gilbert Melendez.
