Bullet Trap

We’ve become members because we like the location but mostly the staff. They’re very knowledgable and down to earth. We always have great conversations and learn something new each time we go.
All guests we’ve brought have felt the same. If you haven’t been there go check it out. They have a great selection of rental guns as well and my first handgun was purchased there after being put on layaway.

I’ve gona a couple times, in the evening, it wasn’t very busy and all of the staff was friendly.
My only complaint was that I went the first week of November and it was a bit chilly outside and I wore a sweatshirt/​hoodie and it was extremely hot on the range. I was sweating bullets!
I briefly looked, but it look like they had a wide selection of guns to choose from and rent. Renting a gun to see if you like it sounds like a pretty good idea.
There range fees for non-​members seem reasonable. I may check out another spot before I decide if I want to become a member.
I think if you go in the off hours, maybe early morning or later in the late afternoon/​evening, you may get better service than if you went in the middle of the day or on the weekends.

The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The range prices are quite reasonable. The selection of firearms to purchase is quite limited while there is a large amount of handguns for rent.
The range itself is a bit worn and dirty but aren’t most. The biggest gripe is that it is very hot in the summer and very cold in the winter on the range. I rarely see the range master. No one is sweeping up shells anymore.
All that said this is my go to place for handgun shooting. Don’t bother with the rifle lanes unless you are just sighting in. Narrow, claustrophobic and they wont let you stand.

We had a nice time! The environment was comfortable and welcoming. It might take us a while but, we always come back.

I have taken the Introduction to Handguns and the CHL class. Our instructions were great, funny and very informative. I had never shot a gun before, but with my instructors instructions, I was hitting the bullseye a lot. If you take the introduction to handguns class, which I highly recommend, you get a chance to shoot 16 types of guns — revolvers and semi-​automatics from 9 mm, 36 special, 22 mm and 44. I will be going back to practice some more and test some of the guns again that I practiced with during the class.

I have gone to the range and shot couple of times. The staff was nice, I rented couple of guns and asked questions. I can see that during busy times especially the weekends they don’t have time to chit chat as mentioned in other reviews but they are usually friendly and accommodating.

They have decent selection of guns at decent prices.

Fast in and out on a Saturday morning cost me about $ 20. Standard lanes with the usual targets. Didn’t have the zombie targets I like. Would’ve gone 4 stars, but I saw several customers being poorly treated by sales people. Kind old man was being talked down to when he was asking a simple question about getting a grip. The guy helping him was rude and condescending to a point where the old man said he didn’t have to be snippy with him. Sales person responded with a snippier comment.

Extremely knowledgable staff. Everyone here was super accommodating, very friendly, and it looks like a fun atmosphere to work. Purchased a G43 and will also be taking my Concealed Carry testing here. The salesperson allowed me to test shoot the weapon before I purchased it and waived the lane fee after I purchased. They have a large variety of firearms and accessories and the lanes are in great condition with excellent lighting. I also noticed while shooting employees regularly swept the floors the keep the shells from getting all over the place and being a tripping hazard. I will return here to shoot regularly and also to purchase my next firearm. I highly recommend Bullet Trap! Please ask for Kevin Clark.

Got my fingerprint for my chl here. can’t review on the range. Just base on there customer service and what I saw. Made a appointment to have fingerprint perform. Had to wait 30mins before someone was able to get to me. It was easy and electronic. saw a lot of people waiting to get in the shooting range. That was on a Sunday. They seem to wait about as long as I was doing the fingerprint. I’m sure the waiting time varies depends on day or crowd. I been to many range in Dfw. I just feel uncomfortable in there. So It never intrigue me to go there even it’s a short drive for me. Maybe you can give it a try?

Went for intro to handgun course after buying Groupon offer. Professional instructors, very helpful. Both my wife and I had a wonderful experience and would recommend this place to family and friends.

Previous reviews seem to bash the hell out of this place, but I guess that was all just bad management in the previous few years. Staff here were nice and friendly, although they do seem a tad understaffed at times. They give you one free target per person.
There’s a pretty large selection of handguns for sale.
The range itself is in the words of Immortan Joe, «mediocre.» It’s pretty dim, and the A/​C is probably kept at like 80 degrees or something. It’s like a sauna in there. It’s probably a good range to test out if that new stippling you got for your Glock would be effective or not, because I was sweating like a pig in there. I guess maybe in winter months it would be comfortable. Other than that, it seems their rules are pretty much the same as any other indoor range, and pricing is average as well.

Knowledgeable salesmen, cheaper prices, and a pretty good selection. I’m coming back!

Excellent range, reasonable prices, great CHL education. They should round the facility out by adding a shotgun, high power rifle and enclosed test fire lane. Also the a/​c never seems to be working in the range areas. Too hot to go inside during summer. I also know they own Frisco Gun Club and I would like to use that facility sometime. I’m not able to though because a person on a limited disability income can not afford the membership or the hourly rate they charge for range use.

Awesome place and very friendly staff. It was my first time at an indoor range and I loved it. I will go there at least twice a month.

I feel like this gun range is good, the guys at the desk are professional and courteous. I asked a guy about a particular gun I wanted, they didn’t have it in stock but he gave me information on it and where I could probably find it. They also referred me to a gunsmith at Frisco Gun Club who turned out to be a great guy. The range is what should be expected at a gun range, dim, cold & heavily worn. You can bring your own ammo, but their range ammo seemed fairly reasonable, $ 17 for a box of 38spl. Can’t complain overall, I would consider going again and buying my guns here for sure.

I took a class here and the instructor made a painfully long 4 hour class go by very quickly. He was thorough, personable, and very informative.
All together a good range.

Took my CHL class here, Peter was an excellent instructor, he was able to keep a 4+ hour course interesting in its entirety. In returning to qualify with the gun, the other guys in the shop were very friendly and out going. Safety is the top priority and they also Make first timers feel comfortable.

After reading some of the reviews about The Bullet Trap I have to say I was a tad bit worried I would not be a happy customer, however, just the opposite occurred and I loved my experience! As a woman this could have been an intimidating event but I have to say my evening there ROCKED.
I grew up with a dad who owned weapons, both for protection and hunting. When I was younger I would shoot weapons with him and enjoyed the time. But life happens and after high school I’ve seldom picked up a weapon which bothers me because I know it’s my responsibility to protect myself and my children in case some crazy person tries to hurt us.
Last year I went to another Dallas gun range and the class was boring, it was myself and a friend who went and we got to shoot a small amount of ammo and I didn’t feel confident enough after that class to take my own weapons to the range. If they covered gun law, it was more of a mention to push gun owners insurance rather than your rights as a gun owner which bothered me. I still did not have any confidence after the class and knew I needed to take a class again, which led me to The Bullet Trap. The reason I mention this other establishment is to point out the difference I felt after visiting The Bullet Trap in Plano and having Jeremy as my instructor.
Again, I had no confidence in handling my weapons and no confidence in knowing the laws and when and where I can carry my Glock or my 1911 as a non CHL holder. So I was looking forward to the class and praying it would help build my confidence in both areas.
Jeremy was funny, approachable, and excited to share his knowledge with everyone in the class. He was able to share real life experiences and share detailed information. Obviously, there is only so much time and a lot to cover so questions were welcomed which allowed him to share more details on any subject. The class included 10 people total. Because there is so much information I plan on scheduling private lessons with Jeremy to expand my knowledge.
After class, it was range time. We were able to shoot 16 different weapons with five rounds each. I Love that the Bullet Trap started us off with .22s and worked us through .38 (wow they are loud), 9 mm, then a 45 (which was my favorite)! Jeremy and his co-​worker, Eric, helped us on the range. Eric was great too.
Being able to learn about the weapons then having so many to shoot was the key for me to gain enough confidence to bring my own handguns to The Bullet Trap for range time. I will definitely be back. It helped that Jeremy educated me on my rights as a gun owner, and I learned I can carry my weapons in my car, concealed without a CHL.
I am a 40 year old woman and felt welcomed and encouraged to ask any questions I needed to ask. Upon check out the rest of the employees were phenomenal as well. I can’t wait to go again and have penciled in range time every other week for the foreseeable future. I will definitely go to The Bullet Trap again.

This was the only range in town many years ago, but no longer. They have some competition now, but they still act like they’re the only game in town. As many other posters have noticed, they don’t really know the law and just make it up as they go along. I bought some reloading supplies from them and they claimed that they needed 2 (TWO) forms of I.D. LOL The range is a tad too warm in the summer and a tad too cold in the winter.
Yes, other posters have noted that if you shoot the string, stick, or clips, you’ll be charged exorbitantly. I’ve never had trouble with this though, because I never miss. My targets are just one ragged hole in the middle of the bull’s eye.
Yeah, the lighting is real dim in the range, but most shootings are in dimly lit back alleys or at home at night or in the parking lot at night, Also, animals usually move between bedding and feeding grounds during dawn and dusk, so most hunting is also done in dimly lit situations, so I just chalk up the dimly lit conditions to realistic training.
It’s a decent range and gun shop, but there’s better, however, they still act like they’re the only game in town with their attitude, actions, and amenities. They’re my «Plan B» gun range and gun shop.

Ya know, solid place.
Came here while on a work trip with coworkers who had the desire to fire guns (as they were in Texas for the first time), but had never fired a gun before.
We ended up renting a variety of handguns and shooting for an hour or so!
Reasonable prices and helpful staff!
