This store is a gem! I discovered The Painted Owl while I was working on an armoire project, meant for my daughter’s nursery. I was referred to their class, where you can bring in a small piece of furniture and a get hands on, individualized lesson from very experienced and highly regarded artist. It was a learning curve for me, as I have never, ever painted a piece of furniture, let alone an armoire that needed dozens of hours just in the stages before painting. After purchasing paint, and more paint at different stores, and painting it, I then tried a chalk paint. I had a rather lackluster experience. In fact, at that point, I almost gave up on the armoire. But I had a vision, and I had an emotional attachment to the piece. The owners were very receptive to my issue, and went above and beyond to help me, not only with the next steps in the process, but also in assisting me with what I needed in materials, also encouraging me to see it through. For anyone interested in painting furniture, novice or experienced, this is the place to go. The paint is extremely high quality, the owners offer step-by-step advice, which makes me want to keep my financial investment in the necessary paint materials in their store. The store environment is inspiring, which I feel comes from the dedication that the store owners have to their product and to their profession. Don’t waste your time trying to figure it all out yourself, like I did at first. Believe me, it was much, much more expensive then if I had just bought what I needed at The Painted Owl. That’s only one lesson I learned! Go get your feet wet, learn from people who love and excel at their abilitiy to share their expertise, and make something beautiful. I did! And now, I can look at the armoire that I was literally about to trash and know that I can make a relic of time come back to life. It’s painted, finished, and beautiful! Thank you so much Sheri, and to the owners of The Painted Owl.

I love the concept of this store! Need advice on how to paint your old furniture or antiques to achieve a vintage look? This place can provide you with the tips and tricks. There’s even a studio class where you can bring in your own(small) piece to work on. There’s also some furniture available for sale in the store(dressers, coffee tables, dining tables, etc) as well as milk paint, which you can purchase for your own DIY projects.
