I’ve never been on Unilocal until just recently when I overheard one of my customers going to post a negative review of a restraunt they just had lunch at because the ice tea wasn’t cold enough? ME; I would have asked for more ice. So I decided to pull up some of my favorite businesses in the area and see what was being said. I came across Placerville Polaris. I’ve been going to this store for over 20 years. I’ve purchased many power tools and two Polaris vehicles from them. I’ve never once, not a single time ever received poor service from these guys! The newest owners have expanded several times now and have the largest selection of power tools and Polaris vehicles like no one else in the area. If you read the negative posts you have to wonder if this Unilocal forum is just another way for people to indirectly advertise for other businesses or just show people how ignorant they can be? A recent posting indicates the front counter person couldn’t get a piece of string out of their trimmer head and «this other shop» fixed it in less than a minute? I’ve been here many times throughout the 20 years with really stupid things and if the counter guys couldn’t figure it out they always took it to the back where the Tech would give them suggestions on what to do or just did it without ever charging me. Another posting the guy is pissed because the shop person pointed out since the quad was rolled the damage isn’t covered under warranty, the posting also states «what quad hasn’t been rolled» Well I own several quads and have never rolled any of them nor do I know anyone that has rolled a quad. I guess the only quads that get rolled are by the people that don’t know how to ride them! Then figure everything is under warranty. Then he refers another business? A posting claims his battery was bad but didn’t have a receipt so had to bring it back. I guess the counter person has more than one customer a day and didn’t remember the guy from who knows how long ago? So the guy got pissed? Even Interstate and Napa batteries have a limited warranty. The funniest post I read was from a guy that lived in Oakland and I guess he traveled several hours to Placerville Polaris only to have them educate him on the negative aspects of Ethanol in our gas and the poor quality of the Ca. gas. He got pissed? Is he the only person in the state of Ca. that actually thinks our gas is good?
As you can see there are always 2 sides to every story and bashing our local businesses because your lack of common sense is ridicules. If all our small business go out of business we’ll only be left with the chain stores. Ever go in one of them and try to get parts? Service??? This is my first post but I guarantee you it won’t be my last!

Nice, clean shop. Always expanding. Most amount of parts in stock for this area. Good, honest customer service and they also work on a lot of brands other shops in town will not. My go to spot here in town

Recently I bought about $ 1500 worth of gas powered equipment from placerville Polaris. I upgraded to a 3 string rapid load head for the echo weed eater I bought there. Later that head got the string stuck in it. I took it to them to help me get the piece of line out. The looked at it for a few minutes and said that they couldn’t get it out either. They gave me verbal instructions on how to disassemble the head to get it out. I was very frustrated after spending a lot of money there that they wouldn’t take a few minutes to make it right. I said I’ll just buy another head for $ 40. I bought the 2^nd head and they put it on for me.
So here’s the kicker. I take the head with the string stuck in it to this other shop. I tell him what’s up. I hand it to him. Less than a minute later he hands the head back to me and the string has been pulled out. He shoots a little wd40 in it afterwards and the head is good to go.
Wait there is more.
I take one of my chainsaws to Placerville Polaris to work on. They say they’ll get to it in a week. A week goes by and I go in to check on my saw. They haven’t looked at it yet. I leave frustrated cuz my tools make me money. A few days later they call and said my saw is fixed. I go pick it up and it costs me $ 100.
A couple weeks later I take 3 of my other chain saws to the guy who pulled the string out of weed eater head. I need all 3 chains and another chain sharpened. The 3 chainsaws still have chains on them. I go pick them all up the next morning. All the chains are sharpened and my equipment is all nice and clean. He charges me $ 40.
I will never take my business to Placerville Polaris again.

One stop shop. We have a cabin and a four-​wheeler up near Tahoe that always needs some kind of maintenance in the summer. I’ve collected quite a few tools over the years. I got a tip from a friend about Placerville Polaris, and I’m glad I went to the shop. Unlike some of the other reviews, I had great service and felt comfortable with their team. They are a little farther away from me than other places, but well worth the drive for the peace of mind. I would recommend Placerville Polaris to anyone.

Very friendly folks! I have always had good experiences when dealing with their Parts and Service departments for my power tool needs. I would definitely recommend them.

I miss Hangtown Tool. Placerville Polaris is a joke. I brought in my Sportsman 850 because it had an error code. I spoke with the guy at the counter and he gave me the price for diagnosis. He then asks me to take it to the shop around back. As soon as I get out of my truck, the shop manager says «oh, that thing has been rolled, the warranty is void» Literally, those were his first words to me. I stopped mid step, completely stunned. I replied, yeah what quad hasn’t been rolled. He continued to give me all the reasons why this wouldn’t be covered. As I stood there wondering why I was still here, he stops and says «oh, it’s past the six month warranty anyways.»
So, regretfully I left my quad there to have them diagnose it. I called them about two weeks later to see what has been done. He said it all fixed and ready to go. I get there and the bill is around $ 90. At this point I’m thinking, this isn’t too bad. I get home, unload the quad, take it up the driveway for a quick spin. Same exact problem. I get back on the phone and they have me speak with Mr. Customer service himself. I told him that I have the same exact issue. He says, I can bring it back in and they’ll take a look. I asked what will I be charged for that. He says, the regular diagnosis charge. I reply, I just paid you diagnose it and you said you fixed it. He replies, there’s no guarantee on the work unless every single electrical piece is replaced. I thanked him for his great service and I have never been back there again.
15 years of going to this place is completely ruined by extremely poor customer service. Now I drive out of my way to go to the Polaris dealer in Elk Grove.

I’ve been to Placerville Polaris several times and bought equipment from them. Each time I leave there feeling like I should have just turned around and walked out and bought the item somewhere else. You talk to one guy on the phone and he tells you one price then when you get there it’s another price, always higher. Then you get attitude from the counter staff for pointing that out. I’ve watched them jack around other customers quoting ridiculous prices for questionable services on equipment that they sold in the first place. The last time I went in was the same old runaround and I think that will be the final time I go there. At this point I will special order from somewhere else or drive to the next local dealer for whatever I need.
Too bad they don’t understand that good customer service will create a lifetime customer, bad customer service makes them money just once or twice.

I’ve noticed since moving up here from Sacramento you often have to deal with «Redneck, Hick Run» operations. Here’s one now. I actually never really cared for this place in the first place. The employee’s are arrogant and unapproachable. If your going to be arrogant then at least have something to back it up. I needed a part for my mower and in fact I have purchased the same part here before. It commonly goes out. I called in the morning and gave the guy who answered the phone the model and serial number. I also told him what it was and what it’s called. He has no idea what I’m talking about and want’s me to bring it to him. I figure I just got the idiot of the store. I call again when I get home and get the same guy and same story. Here’s the funny thing. I go online and find it in two minutes. NO KIDDING and I don’t even sell parts! There were only eight or so parts to choose from and it had the name on it. Helen Keller could have found it. I decided to call Sacramento and see if another store can ship it to me. I just merely mention what I need and the guy says «You need the ratchets for the rear wheels. Both sides»? YES, and thank you for not making something so simple so difficult. One other thing. I probably paid the same with shipping. I have price compared here with stores in Sac and it’s way cheaper down there.

Great people and great customer service. I called with a battery issue on my streetbike, and even though it wasn’t a Polaris, or an ATV, they sent someone out to take a look at it for me.
They truly went above and beyond, I would recommend them to anyone!

I would have to agree with the previous posters, I have lived in El Dorado County for over 35 years and am surprised this location still has a Polaris distributorship.
I purchase a battery for my Polaris in mid-​Nov. I use my quad on my property and found the battery would just barely start in the morning. If it was cold out it would not start.
I had brought it in before and a young man behind the counter tested it and verified it was bad. Their tester was right behind the counter. I didn’t have my receipt at the time so came back.
I took the battery back to PP and they immediately started with «we can’t do anything» and «it’ll have to be tested» etc. Not ever saying, «sorry for your troubles» or «how can we help». I left the battery there as they seemed to think «testing the battery» was an offsite procedure or something.
I now just received an email from them «Bret» that they only have a 30 day warranty on batteries. I picked up the phone and called two different Polaris dealers in the area and both have a 1 year warranty for batteries.
Hmmm.
I have asked them to not destroy my battery as I may need it in court.
I would recommend the Polaris dealer in Auburn, Placer County instead of this company.

Placerville Polaris ATV & Power Tools Inc., has the most dismal, pathetic and abhorrent customer service I’ve encountered in my life. I dropped off a weed whacker to see if they could find out why it wouldn’t start. I called 3 times to check the status of it. Each time I was told they had not got to it yet. After 2 entire months (8 weeks) I finally was told to pick it up. (I called them, they did not call me). It was in a bag, disassembled into 12 pieces. They explained they couldn’t find why it wouldn’t start. When asked why it was disassembled even though I was told to come pick it up, Placerville Polaris told me that it would cost extra to put it back together and the cost of reassembling it wasn’t covered in the original estimate. I complained to them that it is unacceptable to return the weedwhacker in worse condition than it was when it was dropped off. Especially when no mention of extra fees for reassembling was stated when the diagnosis was quoted.
The smart-​mouthed brat behind the counter had the gall to try to explain away their policy of extortion by using a parable of a car repair shop examining the brakes for a brake job… and then caught himself in his own convoluted, pea-​brained logic when he said, «If you don’t buy the brake job, they don’t put the car back together without charging you.» I stood there, stunned and amazed that someone could actually be employed in counter position with such a low functioning intellect and combative nature to a paying customer. Placerville Polaris does not deserve to do business in El Dorado County or anywhere in America. They provided the worst business experience I’ve ever known! Do not patronize their store.

Placerville Polaris & Power Tools has the worst service I’ve ever encountered in a power tool company. They insist that their Echo power tools will be ruined by leaving the gas/​oil mix in the tank for more than a month. Perhaps they could recommend a creek to dispose of this month old oil/​gas mixture. The first clerk suggested rebuilding the carburetor for $ 150, the second clerk Kurt said it would be $ 110. The first clerk also seemed to have most of his contempt vented on the E.P.A. for allowing ethanol in the gas supply. Perhaps he might want to thank Republican Congress people from corn states that support ethanol subsidies. These Congress people are not friends of the E.P.A. If you want bad service, try this company. I will take my business elsewhere.
