History

Established in 2014.

We are a small, family owned & operated general store and restaurant on Finnon Lake in Mosquito.

A scenic 9 mile drive from downtown Placerville is the hidden gem of Mosquito, a historic gold mining settlement. Today, Mosquito is a mountain top community with many old buildings still standing and in use, as well as our historic and beloved Mosquito Bridge, built in the 1850’s and still in use today. A meandering drive around Mosquito will provide you stunning views of the sacramento valley.

Mosquito General sits at the entrance to the Finnon Reservoir Recreation Area, a small lake that has been in existence since the gold rush era. Surrounding the lake is a gentle hiking path, a 20 hole disc golf course, lake side campgrounds that are open year round and catch and release fishing for bass and bluegill. Finnon is also home to several Bald Eagles, Egrets, Coots, Geese & Buffleheads. Many off roading groups meet here for lunch before heading into the forest to play on endless trails.
