Wofford Acres Vineyards

We went to Wofford Acres for the first time yesterday and were super impressed! The view is absolutely gorgeous and the wine was so delicious! If you love red wines, they had a great selection that was difficult for me to pick a favorite, since they were all very good. The atmosphere was relaxing with such friendly winery owners. We will definitely visit again in the future and bring a lunch picnic to enjoy the views with their wine.

Good wine with a beautiful outdoor space. The only thing I would highly recommend for them to improve on is their tasting room — it is so tiny. For a vineyard so big and beautiful, they need to seriously expand their tasting room. I was there this weekend with my bf and we felt so cramped in the tasting room. Their bar area can only fit 1 staff really, and then any more, they’re on top of each other, reaching over each other.

It’s a beautiful drive out to this winery and the setting is amazing — you are way off the beaten path — and so worth it! Some very good wine — I took a couple bottles home today, but the star is the cider! Bottle aged apple cider — really it’s apple champagne! Off the chart good! I took a case of that home! It’s not sweet — nice and dry, crisp apple flavor — it’s amazing stuff! If you are coming to Apple Hill you need to stop here — period.

You will find the tasting room to be a tiny chalet supplying one of the most rich cabernet sauvignons in El Dorado County. We had such a fantastic time meeting the wine makers and tasting all they offered on that particular day. With the warm and inviting nature of the people working, the wines, and the views on their property, this will easily become a place for us to frequent on our trips to Apple Hill.

Sweeter reds than I usually prefer but amazing staff. Great spot to visit for those who like softer, sweeter reds!

8^th stop in the Apple Hill area. B. likes wine so he seemed to like this place. It’s a small winery that the owners live in the house next to it. Driving in takes a while and it’s slow going at 10 mph!
They offer 3 small pours FREE if you want. B. didn’t even do that, but he did try 2 and picked one for a $ 5/​glass. He enjoyed what he got.

This is the last weekend this year to support breast cancer research. In addition to having a wonderful location, great wine and the friendliest tasting room around, you can support a good cause this weekend.

Terrific! Definitely a bit hard to find, with not much navigational help in terms of signage (our pourers said that’s both due to county ordinance aimed at preserving the ambiance of the back country, and also a way of idiot-​proofing their tasting room — ha ha!) Very nice staff, terrific wines, fun artwork in the tiny tasting room, and amazing views. Definitely one we’ll be coming back to!

As good a it gets!
We have been coming to Wofford Acres for so many years and it is always a treat. Left the heat of PV for a bit and had a picnic at the tables with their lovely «picnic pours». Wines are great and the cider is awesome… could be consumed by the gallon if you are not careful… my favorite is the La Mancha — so yummy with lamb. The tasting room staff are wonderful and always seem delighted to see us!

The secret of Apple Hill is right here at Wofford. Not only is it one of the most beautiful wineries in the area, it has the best wine and best staff/​owners of all the wineries we have visited. Lady L. from Folsom (previous review) is loopy and too sensitive. What makes Wofford so incredibly special, is that the owners actually live on the property. They make and live wine with true heart and soul. Wofford is their home and it will always be our home away from home. Truly high class in my book because you can feel, see and taste the love put into it.

The absolute rudest wine tasting experience I’ve ever known HANDS DOWN. We have come here on two occasions, approx 7 years apart and I will have to give a star for consistency… consistently abrasive and rude. The demeanor of the older woman we’ve encountered running the tasting room is better served in a biker bar than a winery sales floor. This theme will continue and seems well supported as you leave the property with the stacks of empty beer cases, trash and junk piled on what could be a beautiful porch to your left — proving this attitude comes from the top and isn’t changing anytime soon. An absolute shame. I’d be willing to try again if she wasn’t there.

This is one of our favorite wineries. The view is like non other, no high-​lines to distract the view. The owner Ann is a hoot and so willing to take time visiting and making you feel like family. The long road to get to the top is soooooo worth it. There’s been times when visiting that people were playing bocce ball and sharing food. Like I said it’s like no other…

I love visiting this winery with it’s beautiful views, Ann and Carl are awesome :-) I always leave with a couple bottles of redbird canyon blend, so delish!

We tried 3 wineries when we visited Apple Hill the other day and this was by far my favorite of the 3. It is less impacted than the other two we visited probably because it is more out of the way on top of a hill.
It is small though so when a group finally does find it, it is crowded. This was homiest and friendliest of the 3 wineries we visited. The view off the hill cannot be beat. It is gorgeous. It was neat to see the vines with fruit hanging off of them. Some of it had been picked and was waiting for pick-​up, which happened quite often as the owner whizzed by on his ATV. We could see people in the back taking the grapes he had just delivered and running them through a press.
Not only was the ambiance great here, but the wines were also decent. They started us off with a wonderful apple cider made from local apples and then went through a flight of whites and reds. The wines weren’t mind blowing, but they were decent enough to merit buying a bottle (which did not happen at the other two wineries).
Highly recommend for the owners, the view and ambiance, and the wine.

This is by far the most beautiful site in Apple Hill! It’s a little trek up a dirt road to get there, but it’s worth it. The wines are good and reasonably priced and the tasting is free, but the highlight here is the friendly staff and owner, and the gorgeous hill top view. They also are involved in cancer charity events, both for breast and prostate.
Tip: get here EARLY. If you can get the place to yourself (or close to it), it’s a wonderful experience. But it gets very crowded, which takes away from the beauty!

At this point, I’m really wondering how I haven’t reviewed this place before! I LOVE Wofford Acres. It’s definitely one of my favorite spots on the Apple Hill Winery loop (tied with Jodar). They offer a great (free) wine tasting with a slew of whites and reds plus a hard apple cider and a rose. The staff is amazing — knowledgable, friendly and clearly passionate about what they’re doing. You can definitely sense that they like *educating* people about wine and they do a great job at it! The views are really great here, too, and they have a bunch of tables out on the hilltop to take in the scenery. All in all, amazing spot. It’s easy to miss since it’s a bit off the main path, but it’s definitely one to put on your agenda — awesome place! Well done, Wofford!

Everything is great. Wofford is tucked away at the top of a hill in apple hill and worth the trip. The winemaker is fantastic, as is his wine. His wife is the tasting room manager and she is wonderful and so pleasurable to talk to as you taste her wine– with no pressure to enjoy it (although I always do)
The view is beautiful and Ann in the tasting room usually pours you a big glass of whatever you liked best to take out and enjoy overlooking a stunning view.
Wofford serves white and red blends (good cab, good syrah, and a couple of unique blends that are fun and very well done by a great wine maker).
