History
Established in 1984.
The Carlton Restaurant opened in 1984 in the downtown Pittsburgh corporate headquaters of Mellon Bank and was a partnership between Mark and Larry Levy (Levy Restaurants) and Kevin Joyce. In 1995, Kevin Joyce — who had travelled extensively in his work with Levy, returned to Pittsburgh full time and became the sole owner. Along with his wife Maggie, they operate The Carlton and Eadie’s Market and Delivery, a quick service restaurant also in One BNY Mellon Center.
Even after almost 30 years, many of our original staff is employed and it is not uncommon to return after years and be greeted Dominick behind the bar remembering your drink and Janet at the Maitre D station remembering your name and table preferences. Our veteran, polished yet friendly serving staff consistently is named as one of the best in the region.
