Doubletree By Hilton Hotel & Suites – Pittsburgh

The staff was very nice upon arrival and even offered us warm chocolate chip cookies. They offered us a floor with a better view which we really liked since this was our first time to Pittsburgh. It was also nice that everything was so close. I was however upset that they didn’t have a hot tub which we didn’t realize until we were changed and went down to the pool. The walls are also very thin so request a room away from the elevators unless you enjoy getting ripped from your sleep at 330 in the morning when people come back from the bar. The water pressure is also low and our toilet hardly flushed.

Great location, you can walk to almost everything downtown. Front desk was very friendly. Room set up was a little weird but most likely because we booked from Hotwire. Can’t complain for the price.

I came with the Anaheim Ducks fan club: The Road Crew trip and our first stop was the Doubletree at the city center. It was at an excellent location located about two blocks from the Consol Energy Center. Upon checking in on Unilocal,we received a tin of their «famous» cookies. Not one cookie. like 8!
Our room was on the 4^th floor, and I had a view of the overpass, and a glimpse of the arena. The room was very comfortable, but the layout was a bit odd. Closet on one end, the bathroom on the other. One thing I did not like about the hotel was they did not provide any of the extras, aside from shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and bar soap. Bar soap? Meh! Always bring your own, I guess.
Their toilet was a low-​water toilet and it took a very long time to flush and to refill. It sounds a lit ticky tacky but if you’re sharing a room, a slow rising toilet can be a problem.
For breakfast, it was a buffet consisting of pretty much the same thing every day: Scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, Home fries, and either a waffle, pancake, or French toast. They also had yogurt, oatmeal, pastries, and bread. The food was not the best, but it was complementary. The service was extremely slow, and hard to get beverages. Patience is key.
Overall I would recommend the hotel, the location is good, even close to the T-​transit. The transit within the downtown area is free, and accessible to all the tourist locations.
An added bonus was attached to the hotel was a flower shop and a 7-​Eleven convenience store.

Friendly staff and nice rooms. They offer a great shuttle that will take and pick you up in the downtown area as well as the stadiums and casino. I would stay here again.

Oh I’m in LOVE! Ok ok… easy super fast check in…(even if you book from a 3^rd party) Friendly staff… and they are accommodating to your needs.
The rooms and atmosphere are spotless, not one single complaint or area I could criticize. Everything was there and in place…

Just stayed here overnight. Very clean and friendly service. The pool area was also very nice and clean. I will be staying here again thanks for making it a nice weekend for my family.

This hotel is fair. I’ve been staying here for 2 weeks now, once on the 18^th floor and once on the 4^th floor.
The 18^th floor has terrible wifi. I would recommend staying on a lower floor if WiFi is important to you. Staff is always helpful and friendly. Water pressure in the shower is just «okay» too.
The views are pretty cool, looking out at either Consol Energy Arena, BNY Mellon, or other various city views. I was hoping to see the river (s) from floor 18, but that isn’t possible.
Beds are heavenly and comfortable. location is prime! I could walk to anywhere in downtown within 10 mins. the free train is located right outside the hotel. Food options are amazing! the restaurant on site is actually really amazing.

Recently stayed here and while our room was average (seemed to be in the middle of a renovation) the customer service/​staff was amazing. Truly went out of their way to assist in anyway, greeted us every morning and went out of their way any chance they could get. Rarely see this level of service anymore and it needed to be addressed. Keep up the great work!

I was here for an industry meeting and was highly impressed with all aspects of this facility. From fast and courteous check in to a very well appointed room to the great menu for all our provided meals. This is a first class facility. I highly recommend a visit for either business or pleasure!

As a New Yorker I could not have asked for a more courteous and friendly staff ! So pleasant, clean accommodations and service above and beyond ! Comfy beds, great food. Will definitely stay here again. Worth the trip !

Nice place. Close to attractions. Clean rooms. Was upgraded to Hilton Honors floor which was quiet.

I booked this hotel through hotwire, and hotwire tells me it’s too late to submit a review, but it was a great stay and I really wanted to give the Doubletree a great review so that’s why I’m reviewing it on Unilocal.Obviously, the room rate was low, so I’m not entering the price range.
To begin with, they gave me 2 warm chocolate chip cookies as soon as I got there. Also, they asked if a 2 double bed room was what I had requested. I answered that it was kind of silly since I was alone — so they gave me a queen bed suite! I was delighted with that.
Finally, I left a new raincoat in the closet. They returned it through mail — it was on my doorstep six days after I got back (this is why my review was late for hotwire, I wanted to be able to tell you whether they would get lost items back to you).
It was very comfortable and convenient for me.
Convenience: I was going to a workshop on South Craig in Oakland. I had a car, but didn’t want to hassle with parking in Oakland. So I walked a couple of blocks to 5^th and Ross get any of the 61 or 71 buses that run down Forbes into Oakland. Most places at Pitt and CMU are on this line. Then to go back, I would get a bus on 5^th. The buses are very frequent — I never waited more than 5 minutes.
Comfort: The suite was huge for 1 person, would be great for a couple also. The bed was quite comfortable, wifi good enough to watch Game of Thrones on Sunday night, in other words, really good bandwidth (I couldn’t figure out how to get it through their TV system — two TV’s in the suite, and I never used either). There was a comfortable desk in the living room area that I used for my computer and meals in the room. The bath-​room was well equipped.
My one criticism was that they provided clean towels every day even though I hung them up – I guess they’re not doing that green thing that many hotels do. Also, the grill in the hotel is way overpriced for breakfast. Try the Keystone Café and Deli for a delicious breakfast (a bit of a walk). And there’s a Jimmy John’s sandwich shop just a couple of blocks away.

This place is pretty solid for what it is. That said, there’s still at least 3 hotels in downtown Pittsburgh I’d pick before returning here.
I stayed here for a conference and it was mostly fine. The guest rooms are small but functional and are generally clean. The location is solid. No real complaints with service or staff, but nothing especially memorable either.

Room are nice and clean but don’t expect a quiet night of sleep. You can hear the noise from the street or people walking/​talking down the hallway. Right now I’m lucky enough to hear my neighbors conversation through the wall at 2:54am!

I was in Pittsburgh for a conference last weekend and decided to stay here rather than the conference hotel because that one (which shall remain nameless) was more expensive and had gotten pretty mixed reviews on Unilocal.I found the Doubletree as comfortable as could be.
It’s located within walking distance of anything I had to get to during my stay downtown. The bed was perfect, the room was spacious, and the temperature was just about right. Check-​in was a breeze, and there was a Unilocal check-​in offer: a free canister of cookies (they’re chocolate chip with walnuts).
The bathroom was the one weird space in the room. The toilet felt like it was made for a munchkin, while the toilet paper was on the opposite wall, where I could have used a go-​go-​gadget arm to reach it comfortably.
My favorite small pleasure was having English Breakfast tea in the room and a coffee maker that didn’t produce water that tasted like coffee. It was replenished each day.
My least favorite thing was that the parking, as far as I could tell, was valet-​only. I realized that parking prices would be through the roof ($ 22 per day on weekdays, $ 20 on weekends, I think), and that’s just comparable for the area. But I’m never a fan of valet parking and its inconvenience.

Let’s face it, we’ve all been there when you have a late flight, are tired, and all you want to do is get to your hotel room.
Unfortunately for me, not only was my reservation lost, but I also was charged the same amount for a room that is about the size of a New York bathroom.
Also greeting me was a long hair on the nightstand, odd blue stuff in the sink, and some small crumbs on the desk. And unfortunately asked for the cookie but didn’t get that or water.
We all know these things happen, just is tough when you are so exhausted. If given the choice, I would highly recommend staying elsewhere, even though the night staff did their best to do what they could!

Always my choice destination when taking in pro sports in Pittsburgh and all other visirs

I stayed at this hotel twice before I moved to the city. I, of course, appreciated the free, yummy chocolate chip cookies during the check-​in and check-​out. My rooms were in good condition, looked attractively decorated, and were comfortable. The price was a little high, perhaps because of the time of year. I actually liked the layout of my smaller room better than that the larger suite. The location is very convenient to other attractions in downtown. During one visit, the front desk repeatedly gave me several disconnected numbers for taxi cab companies, and we were stranded at our restaurant later in the evening until a relative rescued us. This hotel, though, still is my favorite in downtown Pittsburgh.

Stayed here for the second time this year, Once again, great place to stay and shuttle service was good to have. Free cookies from the incredibly helpful staff – thumbs up!
I worked out in the fitness center which was decent sized for a hotel. However, I wish there was a pull up bar/​dip chair! It doesn’t take up much space for all the variations of exercises that can be performed on it.

I’ve stayed here twice now and both times the rooms were awful. Customer Service was fine, restaurant was okay.
First time:
The room was old, the carpet was torn, the blinds were broken, the drinking glasses were visibly dirty and the bathroom sink was a pedestal with barely enough room to fit the hand soap let alone a shaving razor. Couldn’t open the closet door all the way because the entry door closer got in the way.
Second time:
Wasn’t offered a cookie, it was late so maybe there is a cut off time? Room was in overall better condition. I walked in and the room was freezing because the thermostat was set to 66. I turned the heat on but it didn’t work so I called the front desk. They told me that because it was hot outside (high 70s) that the heat doesn’t work. Okay, no problem, I’ll just open the window and let in some warm air. The front desk tells me, «Sorry, the windows don’t open, do you want extra blankets?». No, no I do not. I want a room that wasn’t set to freezing prior to my arrival.
Both times:
The walls are quite thin so you can hear your neighbors open and closing drawers. No fridge, the room layout severely underutilized the available space. For instance, the bathroom is tiny, yet there is a hallway (alcove maybe?) that leads to the bathroom that could be walled off and tiled and would make the bathroom double the size.
TL;DR
2 star budget hotel at a 3.5 star price. If you’re paying full price check out the Omni across the street or if you want something nicer and less expensive there is a nice Hampton Inn on Smallman street.

I’m honestly surprised by the mediocre to bad reviews here. DoubleTree was one of the best parts of my friend and my stay in Pittsburgh.
Location (⁵⁄₅): It’s a walking distance to everything you need to see in Downtown Pittsburgh, and if not the shuttle service and the public transit are steps away. The hotel has its own shuttle service, which can take you around Downtown for free, and they do pick-​ups, too. Downtown Pitt also has a Free Fare Zone where you can use the light rail tram or busses for free. The Steel Plaza Station across the street from DoubleTree is in that Zone.
The hotel is not RIGHT at the center of Downtown, but I think that’s a plus so you’d be in the slightly quieter side of town.
A Jimmy John’s, Dunkin Donuts and some cafes are within a block away if you’re not looking to spend the extra charge for breakfast downstairs. A 7 – 11 and a flower shop is connected right by the lobby. There’s also a bunch of Rite Aid and CVS if you’re looking for something like that as you walk deeper into Downtown.
Service (4.5÷5): All of the guest service agents, including the shuttle driver/​concierge, were very helpful! Each of them always seemed to be willing to go out of their way to help you. Even the housekeeping staff were very friendly, and they refreshed 2 water bottles every day in our room.
I am taking half a point out for some lack of knowledge of what’s going on Downtown. I couldn’t remember where the John Legend concert was, and I had to inquire about the shuttle service, but the guest service agent did not know. I think it would be helpful if the guest service agents know who and where concerts are at least for the day/​night.
Amenities (⁴⁄₅): I wish there was a fridge in the room. Never mind microwave, but that would’ve been nice, too. Everything else was good, though. I’m surprised some people were complaining that the rooms were old. It did not seem like it to us. The décor was pretty modern, and our tv was a big flat screen that worked just fine! We even got to watch the Game of Thrones finale clearly. Haha!
The pool was clean and big! And A+++++ for the towels by the pool. They were neatly placed, and it was plentiful of towels. It’d be nice if the pool «patio» had a nice view, but it actually looked out to a road and a parking garage. The fitness center was also well updated for a hotel. I’m pretty impressed with both the pool and fitness center, actually. (Though a hot tub would be nice!)
Also, Wifi worked well for us, and we had 3 – 4 devices connected at a time.
Overall (4.5÷5): I can’t speak for the restaurant since I didn’t eat there, and I had no car to park with valet. Everything else was great, and DoubleTree = delicious chocolate chip cookies. How could you be mad about that? They usually have some cookies in a basket in the mail lobby if you’re interested in munching some more late at night.

Great hotel for family or business nice workers everybody here helps you. The rooms are clean and 24hr service!!! The pool is BIG and the fitness room ROCKS

So I haven’t stayed here but my Doctors office is located in the building. What I can review is the staff and the cookies! The staff is all very friendly and willing to point you in the right direction when you ask for help. The room keeping staff even asked if I was enjoying my stay in the elevator. I told them I was here for a dr appt and they wished me luck. The cookies here are so good it makes me look forward to going to the dr.

Not the greatest of Doubletree hotels but it will do.
Convenient: Quick walk over to Consol Energy Center means no traffic, no headaches, plus with the arena traffic control officers are always helping folks cross the street. Not to mention PNC Park, Heinz Field, and the Strip District all are a short walk makes you want to stay here.
Room: Definitely waiting for all the upgrades to be finished as the floor carpet was worn and my room’s door was not Doubletree standard. While at the elevator, I could hear my room’s door slam at the end of the halfway — they are loud!
Bar: I enjoyed the free trail mix at the bar and the strong drinks. While they can’t do much about this, I think the biggest draw back is that you don’t even know this bar exist unless you ask someone as it is nowhere near the front door.
Shuttle: Can get busy and wait times can be unpredictable if it is later in the day. But appreciated that I could get a ride to enjoy the local area.

When you check into a Doubletree, they always offer you a warm cookie. Who can resist a warm cookie. Not this guy!
However, the cookie only goes so far. Luckily, this location backs up the promise of the cookie by providing great service in a convenient location.
I’ve stayed here several times over the past few years and have consistently good experiences. Location is great… everything downtown is within a 15 – 20 minute walk and you can always take the subway/​trolley system if you’re going farther afield.
The rooms are decent sized with a dressing area, a desk area and a large bedroom.
A free shuttle service is available to downtown locations and places like Station Square. They have a restaurant (decent) and a 7 – 11 (super convenient) right in the building.
They keep the whole place very clean. My room was spotless, the gym was very clean, the business center was tidy and well organized. They really focus on the details.
They may start with a cookie but they follow through with great service.
