Old Allegheny Shoppe

As I shop at the Allegheny Shops, the retail staff has a attitude. Every time I go in, the staff is exhausted when I ask questions and they put you down for bothering them. They make me feel unappreciated and and forget, if I do not walk in the front door, they do not walk into the back door. Susan needs to lose the attitude;(

The furniture store is awesome! I love the country/​primitive style. The reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because of the prices which are expensive. However, that’s not just here but at all shops that sell primitive furniture. Regardless I love browsing the place and could spend a whole afternoon there.

If you are a cigar afficianado like my father is (I have never smoked), you have found your equivalent of Eide’s Entertainment.
They have all manner of cigars, fresh pipe tobacco of many blends, cigarettes, a walk-​in humidor. They even have cold drinks and often sell big, soft South Side pretzel sticks (they run out, so don’t be too bummed if they don’t have any). Let’s not forget the nice selection of lighters they have among other cigar supplies. You can also play the lottery and get the paper at Old Allegheny.
A wine shoppe and a beautiful furniture store are adjacent to the cigar store as well.
The Olde Allegheny Shoppe is a bit of a time warp. Ya stroll in, and there’s a little table in the corner where a few old-​timers are always lighting up their heaters or stogies, whatever you choose to call them. They’re always quiet, just sitting there, pondering, enjoying each other’s company stoically, manly. There’s a wooden Indian in the other corner. I guess that’s not PC these days.
I probably come in here at least twice a year to get dear old dad something. Usually, I get him a gift certificate, which is great fun because he becomes a kid in Toys R Us when that happens.
Again, I don’t smoke, but I always loved the odor of fresh pipe tobacco and cigars. Maybe it’s comforting to me in a way. When I’m at home, smell that smoke, and hear some Hendrix, Floyd, ZZ Top, and Van Morrison on the stereo, I know Dad’s around and feelin’ pretty free and easy, which as a retired railroader, he certainly deserves.
