Specialties
The Institute for Consultative Bioethics (ICBioethics) specializes in innovation in knowledge-transfer with an expertise in bioethics. ICBioethics has designed, developed and recently released EthAssist®, a first-to-market software product that delivers quality mission-critical bioethics knowledge and automated tools into research, medical and educational organizations that do not possess appropriately credentialed bioethics staff members, or who are looking to creatively convey on-demand education and training in a non-traditional, cost-saving manner.
When leaders engage with the ICBioethics, they gain peace of mind by aligning with bioethics experts, adopting best-in-practice approaches, and positioning their organizations for long-term success.
EthAssist includes a knowledge repository and workflow applications as well as a robust methodology for conducting ethics consultations and audits; policy, process and technology-based systems development and implementation services; on-demand education and training resources; and bioethics decision support. ICBioethics was formed to answer to the lack of ethics training and resources available in bioethics.
Meet the Business Owner
Kathy G.
Business Owner
As a doctoral candidate in bioethics at Duquesne University a few years ago, I watched in dismay as doctors, nurses, and caregivers faced daily moral dilemmas during clinical rounds. In complex, fast-paced environments, well-intentioned professionals were basing decisions on instincts rather than policies. The unintended consequences included fines, litigation, and negative publicity for organizations that were striving to contain costs and comply with regulations. With over 30 years of experience as an IT project manager and strategic consultant, I viewed these daily challenges as mission-critical training, development, and compliance problems that could be solved with technology.
I assembled a world-class team, and we created a user-friendly, flexible platform to get accurate information to employees who need it, when they need it, and how they need it. EthAssist was designed to empower employees at all levels to make the best possible on-the-job decisions.
