Description

Specialties

We offer quality, affordable care for children, ages 6 weeks to kindergarten, in a clean, colorful, and stimulating environment. Our loving, consistent caregivers encourage intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development with a focus on early literacy and math skills at 2 day care locations in the heart of the Cultural District. Children experience the city through field trips to outdoor parks, theaters, and the library. Books, art, music, and games foster creativity and cooperative play skills. Our child care centers provide preschool and Pre-K Counts programs, and participate in Keystone Stars. To ensure safety, access to both centers is restricted, and state-of-the-art video camera security systems monitor and record all child care areas from open to close.

History

Established in 1981.

Small World Early Learning & Development Centers evolved as a division of The Learning Center to meet the child care needs of those working in downtown Pittsburgh. We are the longest established child care centers in the downtown region. Small World I, 607 Penn Avenue, is located on the second floor of the Roosevelt Building, across the street from Heinz Hall. Small World II, 960 Penn Avenue, is located on the second floor of Convention Towers, across the street from the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.
