Inn at the Cove

I booked the romance package for my girlfriend and I. Before I get to the «downfall», I’ll start by saying we had a great time. The location is nice, the bed was comfortable, plenty of seating inside the room. The wine and chocolates that the romance package came with were very good. The views outside the room were incredible. Very relaxing area. The cons: 1. I found clothes in the dresser. It made me question how clean the room was. However, I know employees can make mistakes and forget to check inside so I thought passed it. 2. The «stairs» down to the beach area seem a little dangerous. I’m just surprised somewhere so nice would have such hazardous ways to get to the beach. Wasn’t a problem for me, but I can see it being very difficult for others. 3. My BIGGEST complaint and it was really dissatisfying; my room view. It was awful. Supposedly it was a partial view of the ocean. Hardly. It was a great view to see who was in the hot tub. It makes no sense when booking a romance package. No sense! Overall it’s a nice place and if I ever decide to stay here again I’ll know to ask for a better balcony view.

I had a wonderful stay. Friendly staff, clean room, amazing views, great complementary breakfast. I thought the bed was very comfortable and we didn’t have any problems with noise.

I booked this with an AARP discount and they originally gave me a disabled-​access room with partial ocean view. I called and said we were both mobile and got changed to an ocean view room in the 700 block. We couldn’t hear the traffic as our balcony faced the ocean, and nothing is better than going to sleep to the sound of crashing waves. The room was lovely, although the bed was HARD and had some waterproof cover which meant the sheets kept slipping off. The balcony was sweet, and we spent some time making friends with a very tame seagull we nicknamed «Chauncey.» We got chatting with our balcony neighbors who gave us great recommendations for local eateries.
Also, the «continental breakfast» was just okay. No gluten free options other than oatmeal (yeah, I’m one of «those» people now). However, JJ enjoyed the waffle maker as I munched on a hard-​boiled egg (the fruit was fruit-​in-​a-​cup stuff which I didn’t eat). Also, there’s no tea — just hot water and coffee.
Nice to have a fridge and coffeemaker, and very nicely appointed bathrooms. The staff were just lovely, and so helpful. Special shout-​out to Matt Classen who was awesome!

Staying here was an absolute wonderful experience! Not only was the view from the balcony beautiful but the trail view was too. This hotel has a peace of paradise right in its backyard and it is super recommend that you check it out.

We booked our room through kayak for the best price, which we got. However, we traveled with our two dogs and my son and when we arrived, we were booked for a room that wasn’t pet friendly and only had one bed. That said, it was of no fault of the hotels rather the second party site we booked through. Unfortunately, there were no pet friendly rooms left or rooms with two beds. Jonathan (I think was his name) was very accommodating though, and made sure to fix the situation the best he could. His efforts were appreciated and while we didn’t get a room with two beds, he did provide us free of charge, with a pretty stellar air mattress and still allowed us to keep our pups even though the room wasn’t pet friendly. Make sure to book directly through the hotel to avoid these issues.
So, all that said, The room was nice. Bed (and air mattress) was comfy. There’s free breakfast from 7am-​10am and there were lots of choices! The coffee was top notch. Hotel guests were quiet, the service was perfect, and the pool is heated. And obviously, very nearby private beach access was fabulous. The scenery never gets old – it’s beautiful. ¹⁰⁄₁₀ would book here again as well as recommend to friends and have. Hope to come back soon!
Side note: we saw bunnies! They have bunnies!

Negatives outweighed the positives for our midweek visit. We were placed at the end of the property which meant we were the closest room to the freeway. I’d estimate we were approximately 150 feet from Highway 101 and the traffic noise was relentless.
The room is directly above a public beach access walkway so privacy is non existent. The bed is hard. Extremely hard. The second night we propped pillows under our bodies and got through.
If all of that was not bad enough the dogs in the adjoining rooms barked on and off throughout the second night of our stay. Had we heard dogs on the first night we would have stayed elsewhere. We like dogs but dislike inconsiderate dog owners.
Frankly I believe we were placed in the dog wing. All in all it was uncomfortable and I don’t think we will return to this property.
There were positives. The Inn is clean and the décor is modern and well designed. The ocean view is about as good as it gets and the place seems secure and safe even with the public pathway between the hotel and the ocean.
There is not much they can do about the freeway noise or the constant stream of locals using the beach access. The manager (Matt) said they would have notified the loud dog owners of the menace had they known but let’s be real. Dogs that want to bark will bark. I found his explanation about my complaint to be uncaring.
Advice; if you choose to stay here ask them to place you in the middle of the property. I doubt they put the dog owning patrons in the prime rooms. Freeway noise will be a little less noticeable in these rooms as they are farther from the source.

Everything about this place was amazing. My man took me here for a surprise anniversary weekend getaway. It’s the perfect couples retreat. All beachfront views, dinosaur caves, private beach access, great picture prefect views, heated pool, sample wine tasting from
Local wineries, complimentary breakfast, jacuzzi and so much more. Advice, they do not have a dinner restaurant so go to the pier. Customer service was great, Matt had really went above and beyond with my man at setting things up. Private beach access was my fav part. We were able to see sea otters, fish, seagulls, and one whale with the binoculars that were provided in each room. Dog friendly, non smoking.

We originally had booked a different hotel for our anniversary weekend, but we last second adopted a puppy and this was the only hotel that had an available pet friendly room for the weekend.
This turned out to be a great thing! The staff was very friendly and accommodating to everything we needed. The view from the room was already amazing and we never wanted to leave, but there were plenty of places for our puppy to play around as well as many places to walk for more perfect views of the ocean. A short 5 minute walk to the Dinosaur Caves Park! They also had an assortment of games you could check out from the front desk and a delicious selection of foods for breakfast. We would definitely stay here again!

Recently stayed at The Inn at the Cove over this past weekend and it was surely well worth every dollar. The views were breathtaking & romantic, our room was excellent, the location of the hotel is in walking distance to Ventana Grill which served outstanding food as well as to the shops down at the pier. The Inn at the Cove is our new home away from home when in Pismo Beach.

What a lovely hotel! I booked a room on a weekday night for a reasonable price and it was great! The room was very clean, the shower head was strong, and our view was fantastic (even being on the bottom floor). We had our own little balcony with views of the ocean, gazebo and a beautiful tree on the cliffs lit up with Christmas lights. The breakfast the next morning was fantastic, with a great variety of foods. I was highly impressed, and so were my friends. I would definitely recommend this hotel to our out-​of-​town guests!

our stay was perfectly perfect … beautiful rooms stunning views amazingly comfortable beds sweet + happy front desk peeps … we sat out on our balcony listening to the crazy roaring record storm surf watching an incredible shooting star performance in the night sky — SO magical !!! we will be back, such a stellar local destination !

Place is magnificent! The view and location are incredible! Hospitality is second to none. Clean updated rooms, easy to walk around, the gazebo is wonderful. Heated pool, free BIG continental breakfast, and parking is a snap. We have fully enjoyed our stay and will be back for sure. We stay in Pismo every year in December and this is our favorite location ever!

Beautiful beach location with pristine ocean views and adorable rooms. Free continental breakfast from 7am-​10am. Let me tell you this breakfast is no joke — yogurt, Greek yogurt, granola, waffles, fresh fruit, etc… Super nice staff. Wish we could have stayed longer! Pismo is so beautiful.

This room is very clean and comfortable, medium firm pillows, vaulted ceilings on second floor so the room feels large. We have an ocean view and it is amazing!

OMG! Don’t let the word out! This place is so lovely, right on the bluff above the surf with 180 degrees views of the coast. We immediately booked a second night. The binoculars in the room would have given up closeups of whales if there had been any. And the Slinky added whimsy & a chance to play on the million steps leading down to the beach. Lovely park area for wandering & lots of benches for sunset views if you don’t want to watch from your balcony. They even have a Little Free Library, so bring a few books to leave for others & take a new one to read. Beautiful contemporary & spacious room, comfy bed, friendly staff. Oh, and a welcoming glass of wine at check-​in! We’ll be back!

The setting of this hotel is pure perfection! To have a picturesque view of the Pacific literally right off your balcony plus a public walking trail abutting the property that takes you down scenic cliffs to the crashing waves on one side and a beach on the other is pretty unbeatable.
The property itself is modern with the buildings tiered into the hillside to take advantage of the ocean views. Nice touches in the room — wine glasses, binoculars to better spot the sea life, nice strong wi-​fi, bath & body toiletries, bar height stools & table on the balcony to you can see over the rail to the water — someone was being really smart! Nice glassed in pool for a bit more privacy from the walking trail & also wind control — it does get cool here at night. They also served a really acceptable continental breakfast with local pastries, oatmeal, waffles & other goodies. Plus it’s easily walkable to restaurants in the Shell Beach area.
We spent a lot of time enjoying the balcony here checking out the sunset, enjoying a bottle of wine at night listening to the waves crash on the cliffs and then our morning coffee watching some seals splashing out in the ocean. Highly recommend!!!

I tried to figure out why this place wouldn’t get a 5 star rating but couldn’t find a legit reason to dock even half a star! We loved it here! Wish we had stayed longer! First of all the location is spectacular. Perched on the cliffs overlooking the ocean, it is picture post card gorgeous. The manicured grounds, walkways along the cliffs, steps down to a small beach and even between the cliffs, provide the perfect setting for a wonderful escape. The views are so good I would have driven miles and miles just to see them! And here they were right outside my room!
Sitting on our balcony we watched the sunset with a glass of local wine in hand. Perfect. Well appointed and thoughtful seating on the balcony with unmatched views. THIS is vacation mode for sure!
The room was spacious, spotless, and very comfortable. Bed was great, bathroom equipped with Bath and Body works toiletries, functional wifi, and the flat screen TV with a wide range of cable offerings was fabulous. Although with that view, why do you need the TV?
The staff was friendly, always smiling and quick to offer a greeting. Breakfast was included and was more than you could ask for, including fresh baked pastries from Edna’s in SLO. It’s away from the bustle of downtown Pismo Beach but a short and pleasant walk to the restaurants at Shell Beach. (I highly recommend the clam chowder at Zorro’s.) What a great place and a great value! I’ve paid way more for hotels and gotten far less. This is a place that over delivers. So, 5 stars it is! Love it!

Nice hotel with great service. Definitely a quiet place. Most rooms are overlooking the ocean. Jacuzzi was a bit dated, but being that this hotel is in the beach, it didn’t bother me much. They offer 805 beer upon check-​in which is a great touch. Breakfast was pretty basic. It includes Waffles, fruits, bagels and yogurt with your choice of two juices or coffee. The pillows were heaven sent. The beds were comfortable. I would recommend everyone to stay here.

Perfect place to relax. Beautiful ocean view, very quiet, private balcony, dolphin sightings. The area directly in front is a wildlife sanctuary. I loved watching the Pelicans and Seagulls. I’ve never seen so many Pelicans in one spot. Amazing. You do have to walk a little over a mile to get to the beach though since the area here is ocean and cliffs. It’s a nice walk though.
Anyway we will come back. Great stopover on the way to the Bay Area.

If you’re looking for a fun, happening hotel close to shops and restaurants, this hotel is not for you.
If you’re looking for a quiet hotel away from the hustle and bustle to relax and recharge, this hotel is perfect.
1. Steps away from the ocean, every room seemed to have an ocean view. We had an upper level room, and it was perfect to enjoy the scenery, sunset, and the sky. Felt like I could breathe again.
2. Nice, spacious room. The room was a good size with ample closet space and bathroom counter space.
3. Attention to detail, such as providing binoculars in every room. I really wanted to, but I didn’t see any dolphins or whales from our room though, boo.
4. Friendly service.
5. 5 minute walk to Mary Dodd Park and Dinosaur Park by Shell beach. It’s beautiful, and worth a morning walk.
6. Access to the beach through private pathway from the back of the hotel. I liked how there were all these secluded stairs that led you down to the beach.
7. Free breakfast, although I wasn’t a big fan of what was provided, it was sufficient.
If I had to nickpick, the parking lot was a little crowded at times, especially since there was a wedding going on the day we were there. The swimming pool is also very small, so not where we spent much time.
Overall, I absolutely loved the view and the comfort of the hotel. I will definitely come back if I’m ever back in the Pismo beach area. Perfect overnight trip!

This was my and my bf’s first time in San Luis Obispo and we were pleasantly surprised. More like, ecstatic when we got here.
Upon arriving, we are shown a beautiful view and friendly staff. We were given cookies and oranges when we checked in, so it’s already on a great start!
The room– bright, clean and balcony with chairs, table and also binoculars for viewing the whales/​Dolphins/​birds. It was a lovely room and a nice comfy king bed. The bathroom had a pretty spacious bath, plenty of counter space with space on the bottom to store other items such as a hairdryer that they included. They had beach towels in the closet and they also said they offered them at the front desk if we needed more. We opted for no house keeping for a discount of $ 5.
Knowing that we could see dolphins and whales, we definitely will come back to this hotel. All rooms have an ocean view, which I can’t say about Cliff’s resort down the street. We actually saw one whale flip its tail a couple times!
Parking does get quite full towards the night so best if you get there early and don’t park under the tree unless you have to. A lot of bird poop on your car if you do :(

We stayed in an upper level room. The view was fantastic, but there’s no privacy because the neighboring balcony is only a few feet away. A child lock on the screen would have allowed us to keep the door open to enjoy the ocean breeze.
The room is sufficient, but the window AC unit in the wall sits right next to the bed.
They don’t advertise the free breakfast very well, but it is offered.
The pool and spa were small, but we enjoyed them all by ourselves.
Referring to the rocks, seaweed, and sand as their private beach is an overstatement. The picture of the cove must have been taken at low tide, because it wasn’t accessible. To access the «beach», you have to walk down sandy rocks with a single handrail along a cliff. The risk of a fall wasn’t worth it.
You’re paying for a beautiful view and a clean room.

Pros: the views are absolutely gorgeous, spacious room, comfy beds, lovely trails, swinging chairs around the property to enjoy some downtime, pool is warm with open view, breakfast was good on our Thursday morning stay… variation of Greek yogurts, Kashi cereal, pastries, waffles, cheese, and fruit. Free Wi-​fi and parking and sparkling cider.
Cons:
1. Our room (517) smelled like pee near our balcony door. It was hidden by cranking the air conditioner. It wasn’t super warm, so when we turned it off it was noticeable. When we told the front desk, we didn’t get an apology. She said, «oh, will you be out of your room because it will take a while to clean it up and it will be wet when you get back. No apologies.
2. The water taste like mold… even in the shower.
3. The TV is small in comparison to the spacious room size. A slightly bigger TV would be ideal. Our cable didn’t work the first night. Someone came down to fix it promptly. :) The cable service was spotty. We would hear the show, but there was a pause of the scene of the show. A bit annoying since we don’t usually watch TV at home, so for us cable TV is a luxury.
4. Breakfast: Thursday morning was great. Friday morning there weren’t more yogurts or Quaker oatmeal, no syrup, and both mornings no hot water for my tea. I don’t like to microwave water. Wish there was some type of protein to offer.
5. Housekeeping knocked on our door at 10:00. ??? She asked if we checked out. Checkout time is at noon! We are without kids for our anniversary… don’t bother us… hint hint.
6. The pool is warmer than I expected, but since it was on the cooler end and we swam at night, it was great. I thought the pool was bigger in the picture.
7. There was only one toilet roll and it wasn’t a new one. There wasn’t a spare anywhere. We ran out and used much of the tissue paper.
For the money we paid, we do expect more hospitality from the costumer service team that our complaints (we were very nice about how we informed them.) would have been responded with an apology as reassurance that this is not typical. I appreciate a pet friendly hotel, but do not like the smell of someone else’s pet or human urine. Gross! We are not wealthy, we’re public school teachers, so two nights here was a splurge for our anniversary. We loved the quiet time (away from our three active boys), the views, and the alone time with my husband. That in itself is priceless.

Great place to stay. The ocean view from the balcony on the upper floor is spectacular. Very clean rooms small tub/​shower but great water pressure. Comfy beds. Will definitely be back.
Tip; walk ½ mile N and eat breakfast at Zorro’s

Let me just say. This place was wonderful! One of my favorite places I’ve stayed at in Pismo. The rooms were very clean and spacious. The beds were also very comfy.
When we arrived, the staff was very polite and helpful. Check in was very simple and check out was as well. Their continental breakfast was great, as they give you a wide variety to choose from.
One of the best parts of this hotel was the view from the rooms and the fact that the rooms all have a small balcony area.
The only downside was the fact that there was one small trash can in the restroom and that’s it. That’s pretty much my only complaint. I would definitely consider this place in the future!

Stayed here last night. Pulled in on a whim as we’re looking for somewhere to stay on our coastal trip of California. The lobby is under construction so you Check in in a room. That didn’t bother us at all. Got an ocean view room with a small deck. And it was truly ocean view. I watched sea otters in the morning. They even give you some binoculars in the room. No need for a/​c (they did have it) we locked
The screen door and slept listening to the ocean all night. The room was very clean and welcoming. Breakfast in the morning was simple but just fine. Yogurt, bagels, fruit, Danishes etc. I would definitely stay here again if we are ever in pismo beach.

There are few places that I’ve truly enjoy staying at. Most are either horrible at service, or have difficult parking, or the room is dirty, smelly, noisy from the outside, or have horrible unsupportive beds to sleep on.
Well this place is none of that. My family enjoyed the quaint comfort of our room with its expansive balcony view towards the ocean. The breeze was pleasant and the March weather was to die for. Our room was clean and quiet.
We came to get away from the city and this place was the perfect quiet get away.

Stayed here for one weekend night as a quick getaway from LA. They are still doing construction but really has no effect on your experience, maybe because they weren’t doing any on the weekend. The temporary check in area is in a previous guest room.
We had a lower level ocean view room. Looks like pretty much all the rooms were ocean view? It was a rainy stormy weekend, so the ocean was loud and beautiful. It was slightly cold but we left the patio door open all night to fall asleep to the sounds of the waves. Agree that the blankets were definitely on the thin side, more reason to cuddle up with your loved ones! We didn’t have much noise issue except for kids next door in the morning, but that went away as soon as we closed the patio door.
Breakfast was well stocked and I adore the little pancakes that come out of this auto machine! Spent some time in the hot tub and walked down to a secluded rocky beach. The grounds are well maintained and easy access to the beach walkways are definitely a plus! You’re not in the immediate area of the «downtown» Pismo Beach but all the restaurants and bars are within an easy 5min drive.
