Best Western Plus Shore Cliff Lodge

Such a beautiful location. And an incredible staff (Melvin especially). I made a mistake with our reservations — booked through online booking agency and indicated we had a dog, but that doesn’t translate to the agency telling the hotel we had a dog. We arrived late at night and were treated very kindly. We were given a beautiful room despite our blunder and the pup was allowed to sleep under the same roof. In the morning we enjoyed a surprisingly impressive continental breakfast and walked to the dinosaur caves park where our dog enjoyed the beach and beautiful weather. Definitely the place to stay in Pismo!

I do not understand how this hotel has such good reviews! My experience here was just awful. One of the reasons I booked here was because it was a pet friendly hotel. They failed to mention to me that because I booked a pet friendly room that not only was it also a handicapped room, but also that it had a wonderful view of their construction in progress! I could hardly see the ocean, the entire view consisted of a giant dirt area. Not to mention that our first night rate (Saturday) was almost $ 400. Absolutely ridiculous for such a crappy place.

Stellar example of best western property. Currently undergoing some landscaping repair but no noticeable noise of staying in the south wings. Nice staff, big rooms, good breakfast. Fabulous view of ocean and very convenient. Loved it!

Customer staff was fantastic and very eager to help. The family and I had a great time here and we will definitely be coming back. Our room had an awesome view as well.

Our first time at this hotel. One of the few hotels that is dog friendly. This hotel location is great because it’s right around the corner from Highway 1 which leads to downtown Pismo. The other direction on Highway 1 is Shell and Avila beach.
The king room on 1^st floor, dog friendly is large. The room is very clean and the hotel supplys a doggie blanket, biscuit and bowl for your pet. Nice touch. I love the eatery/​bar area which includes a sink, microwave and fridge. The bed was very comfortable and the WiFi was speedy. The bathroom is very large with two sinks, wow.
The Negative, don’t stay in room 107. The room has obstructed views. The hotel wall is blocking and there is a bush taller than the terrace railing blocking the view. Plus, the breakfast room is next to room 107 and there is a glass window looking right into the terrace.
Dont get too excited about the breakfast. It’s very simple. The worse part was the people and their own rudeness. This didn’t have anything to do with the hotel and can’t be blamed for manner less people.
Overall, the hotel was very clean, the staff very friendly and it was a good stay. The people on the second floor allowed their small children to run back and forth in the room past 1000 at night. By the 2^nd night we couldn’t stand it and called the front desk. The gentleman totally agreed and said he would handle it and told me if it continues to call back. That’s great service.

A lovely place overlooking the ocean. Great room, staff, views and close to the Pismo wharf. Peaceful, fabulous.

You know what? This is a beautiful hotel. I will back.
Tom was adorable and very polite even though I was honestly and regrettably a grump about things that were beyond his control.
Beautiful pool area, perfect for a lap swim adjacent to a stunning mosaic clad hot tub. A flush green walkway with cliff top gazebo and sweet lounge chairs. And the pillows were sooooo comfy.
Plus they are dog friendly. $ 20 a night pet fee, call ahead and make sure they know you have a dog as they have very few pet rooms.
It’s also centrally located and close to freeway access while feeling worlds away.
I’m going to question the powdered eggs, only, but I assume this is a chain or market-​wide epidemic and not condemn the franchise owners for this. Lol.

This place is awesome! Came here for my friends wedding couldn’t ask for a cozier place to stay. The view from our balcony was just amazing looking over the ocean. The free breakfast was great just be prepared for some guest who think they can jump in the line and cut you or bump into you with zero self awareness. Never thought a best western would be this nice.

My wife and I stayed here for part of our honeymoon. Management takes great pride in the Hotel!!! The grounds are beautifully maintained, the housekeeping staff have amazing attention to detail and are incredible artists in the way they shape the towels, and the desk staff and manager repeatedly exceeded our expectations throughout or stay.

My wife and I stayed here over the weekend for my birthday getaway. We had a fabulous experience here. The rooms were very nice and the balcony had a breath taking view. There are also lounge chairs down below where we caught the most incredible sunset over the ocean. The staff was amazing– they went above & beyond! We were very impressed with this Best Western and will definitely be staying here every time we go to Pismo Beach.
If you find yourself here you should check out the restaurant next door, La Ventana. This place also has awesome views and the most DELICIOUS NACHOS!!! You will not be disappointed.

After staying at another certain hotel for five years in a row. We were turned away because they were no longer pet friendly. I shed a tear because this place was our home away from home every time we visited Pismo Beach. So scrabbling to find lodging for my wife and I and our dogs. We were referred to the Best Western Plus Shore Cliff Lodge.
Best Western? My initial reaction was thoughts of a outdated hotel straight out of the 70’s. Not my idea of a fun, comfortable stay. My wife and I were hesitant at first but the price, reviews and pictures of the place weren’t bad. So we gave it a shot.
To our surprise, the place was nothing that we feared. The room was big and spacious. The grounds were well landscaped. The linens were fresh and clean. Everything looked, if not new, updated. The hotel also have great views of the Pacific and the Pismo Beach pier. On top of that, the majority of the staff were very friendly.
Other highlights of the hotel were free breakfast, a big swimming pool and our hotel room balcony. The breakfast consisted of eggs (one day they served cheese omelets, the next day they served scrambled eggs), cottage cheese, fresh fruit (bananas, oranges and red apples), assorted breads and cereal, pancackes, juice, milk and coffee. They also had sausage one day and bacon the next. A pretty complete offering for breakfast.
The swimming pool, even though we didn’t use it. Looked clean and well maintained. While we were there. It looked like a lot of people enjoyed the pool.
Our favorite part of the whole hotel was the balcony area. We spent most of our time sitting outside. Enjoying the view of the water. Smelling the ocean air. Hearing the waves coming in. Watching seagulls fly by. So relaxing.
A few things to be aware of. Avoid parking away from the hotel under the trees. The Best Western have a lot of birds in the area. Under the trees is a poop zone. So if you don’t want your newly detailed car to get ruined. Park somewhere else. They also discourage smoking in the rooms and will charge you a $ 250 fee if you get caught. They do however have big metal ashtray stands throughout the hotel grounds for smoking outside.
We had an amazing stay at the Best Western Plus Shore Cliff Lodge. We just didn’t enjoy our stay. Our dogs loved it. We have found our new home away from home. We will be back.

The staff is friendly and the view is … there are no words for the view. The hotel is in a great location. I stayed in an oceanfront room that faced where the sun set. The hotel is convenient to the freeway and to the downtown area. It is just a short walk to the beach.
The cliff area is nice with places to sit and look out at the ocean. There are a few seagulls and a lot of pelicans who mainly mind their own business sitting on the cliff. To see them you have to walk to out to the cliff and look over. We had a friendly Seagull visit us a few times but if we ignored him and not leave any food out on the balcony he would leave. I did not mind him coming by because he was looking for food for his little one. There is a little bunny who hops around as well. It is so cute.
The hotel lobby is clean and inviting. The room was clean when we arrived and there was nothing that set me off. I enjoyed my visit.
Although we wound up not using the pool area it is a large area and well maintained.
It is such a nice location with a beautiful surroundings you can just stroll around the property.
There is also a great restaurant in walking distance I mean only a few steps away but be prepared for the wait but it is worth it.

Reasonable motel not really a hotel. No bar or restaurant. Great location and views but not very good value. The cleaning staff were nice but the rest of the staff were at best cool not friendly at all maybe even a little aloof. The pricing was the worst thing about this hotel it was Marriot pricing for motel six style accommodation. Next time I’ll spend more for a nicer hotel without the view. Not recommended for a romantic getaway but suitable for a young family the pool and jacuzzi were very good.

The view is breathtaking, the hotel location is super convenient to the freeway (without feeling you’re that close to it) and the service was good.
We visited with a group rate that was close to 40% off and it was well worth it. I’m not 100% sure I would pay regular full price for the complex however because when you look closer there are just little things that would send me elsewhere if I’m spending that sort of money. It wasn’t anything big, just little things like in the shower, the floor must have had some sort of leak under it that is causing the shower to lift and bubble in these squishy spots. There were a few spots where the balcony sounded like it was almost hollow and I know it’s tough to stay ahead of the decay from ocean air, but these sorts of little things just don’t make it feel as pristine and shiny as a hotel should at that cost.
Most of the people were very polished that we dealt with, some were a little rusty. I didn’t like that the sliding door didn’t have a functioning lock, nor was it a very secure one even if it had been working. Being that close to the ocean, I’d have loved to have slept with the door open to listen to the ocean, but being on the bottom floor with no good lock — no way.
However, the view and being a silent observer of the birds, the ocean and even rabbits was so peaceful. Having a pool with a spectacular sunset view, and the ability to see a pod of whales passing through the area was awetastic!
Our Three-​Thumb review is 2 ½ thumbs up. My daughter loved the huge pool! My son loved the extensive breakfast and the freedom to roam back to his room to retreat to his electronics. The cliffs dazzled me enough that I almost forget about the little things that aren’t quite at the level. I’d consider returning without my kids for a writing weekend.

We have been coming here for over 20years! Must say this place has improved the property BIG TIME!
Now the breakfast (FREE) is better! They are serving cheese omelettes and sausage/​bacon. They have pancakes and cereal. When you check in they give you fresh baked cookies! Linda in hospitality is awesome! She make sure everything is clean and ready to serve to guest! She told us about the Farmers Market on Thursday night 6pm-​9pm in San Luis Obispo. We recommend the Pier Side view 3 floor. Rooms are larger and more private. Plus it’s the same building you get your free breakfast, elevator and close to parking!

I love it here!
Two years ago while visiting, they were right in the middle of remodeling. We’ve seen the rooms before and after and the upgrades are fantastic.
The views from this hotel are amazing!
All the rooms have oceanfront views; some are angled and include a view of the pool. All of the rooms also have a balcony or patio for the ground floor rooms. The lobby has free coffee and tea in the afternoons. We’ve been lucky to have incredible views each stay.

Comfy beds, free WiFi that works, refrigerator and microwave in the rooms, and free coffee. Separate from the bathroom, some of the rooms have a small sink in the bedroom near the microwave and fridge. Nice touch! I also like that the TV remotes are micro cleaned.
Just like other Best Westerns, they have a continental breakfast in the mornings.
And, the birds that come to visit are adorable!
With four visits, we’ve never had a complaint and I can’t wait until my next visit.

It’s all about the view, ocean everywhere! This hotel situated on a high cliff has probably one of the best views of Pismo beach.
We stayed in room 302 which had a full ocean view but more of the beach rather than of the cliffs and the sun. We didn’t witness any sunrise or sunset. It would have been a nice touch but nevertheless it was easy to walk to the grounds and observe nature at its finest. Being that the hotel is on a cliff, the access to the real beach is tough. Since we had a quick stay, this did not matter to us.
Our room was very spacious, clean, simply decorated with a king bed. Decent size mini fridge with a microwave. The wifi was pretty weak throughout our stay. Breakfast was adequate, continental with fruits, yogurt, bread/​bagel, boiled eggs. They even had a pancake machine. Since we planned to have a hearty lunch elsewhere, we didn’t mind the light breakfast. BTW we were not really swayed by any restaurants in the touristy area (besides Ventana grill), it’s better to drive 15mn away to San Luis Obispo where the dining scene is better.
If I were ever to visit the Central Coast of Cali, I would totally consider this hotel again. I just wished their prices were cheaper. We paid about $ 270 total per night and really besides the view and the grounds, the inside of the hotel was not worth that money.

My family and I decided on this hotel because it was significantly cheaper than most of the water front hotels that are on the exact same street. We booked online through Priceline. Everything was gravy.
Arrived, checked in to #318 and of course as soon as we set our bags down we check out the balcony and omg the view!!! It’s so amazing. That view is why I see other hotels on the same street charging $ 300 a night! It is gorgeous but if you can save some money why not? We had a king, ocean view room on a weekend for $ 198 at Best Western Shorecliff with taxes/​fees included! Very reasonable for the weekend night and for the area one of the cheapest. Our room was very clean. Everything well stocked and plenty of towels. Bed was super comfy.
There’s a nice walking path on the hotel grounds out to the cliffs with a nice gazebo. Would be perfect for a small wedding or vow renewal. The view there is just breathtaking. There is a heated pool, jacuzzi and umbrella set up. So lovely. The view from the pool at sunset is just gorgeous. Check out my pics.
Continental breakfast included with your stay. The usual. Muffins, bagels, fruit, juice, coffee etc. Pretty nice. Everything was fresh and good. My toddler really enjoyed it. But if you don’t like basic breakfast foods I suggest you go ahead and spend the money on your own breakfast.
I loved staying here and will most certainly book again. My new fav Pismo hotel!
I see people complaining about seagulls?! Really?! If you don’t like the seagulls… stay home! Seagulls=beach. Beach=seagulls.

Best western shore cliff, 5 stars!

This is the first time I’ve stayed at a Best Western property. Keep in mind this is a Best Western «Plus» and it seems as if they take the time to add a lot of details to make you feel comfortable. This is a cute property with spectacular views. I am under the impression that it was recently updated/​renovated. The room was adorable with numerous little touches that make you feel happy :)
You will also enjoy taking many photos all around the property… I suggest walking around and exploring the grounds. The pool/​jacuzzi area is very clean and inviting also with views straight out over the ocean:)
Great shower with decent soft towels and separate vanity. Decent sized closet. Full mirror, microwave, mini fridge and coffee maker.
The only issues were the AC being loud and I was hoping for a more comfortable mattress… It’s not the worst but it wasn’t great. Overall, great stay and we will be back :)

Well, this place is very special to me. Lodging through TNT (Team in Training) for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society was set up for all of us running the SLO half and full marathon. The setting is absolutely stunning and the views from the room were soothing and breathtaking. Located just a mile or so North from the main drag where beach access is so easy and so few crowds. The grounds itself are a bit dated but you walk around to seaside where there is a cool little gazebo which is pretty sweet though. Spent about 30 minutes just chilling and watching the birds swoop up the cliff-​side riding the updrafts and then back down again.
Rooms are nothing special but has free wi-​fi, a mini fridge with sink and a pretty sizable shower. Only complaint was there was a birds nest outside the room and they made some eerie sounds for around and hour both nights. Wall AC unit was pretty noisy and intermittent too.
All and all though had a great time and plan on doing this race every year and will be hoping to stay here.
