Jade Bistro

This is bar none THE absolute best Thai food restaurant in all of Pinellas County. I am super picky with Thai food, too.
In fact, Jade has some of the best Thai food I’ve ever had. They have some dishes here that I’ve never had anywhere else and now that I love them I’m afraid of ever losing the ability to order these dishes!
We are so obsessed with this place that we do a huge order that will last us days.
When we get dinner from here, we always do take out so I can’t speak for the environment on the inside, but it seems quaint, quiet, and chill.
So what do we order from here that has us coming back all the time?
I always make sure to get my healthy lunch for the next day by adding a classic Thai order of the «avocado summer roll» and an order of the «summer roll with shrimp and pork» because they’re light, refreshingly crunchy, well priced, and so yummy! (If you’ve never had summer rolls, they’re basically like a tasty little salad wrapped in rice paper in an egg roll shape — but not fried. They come with a divine peanut-​hoisin based dipping sauce.)
For dinner we order and share the «Autumn roll» and «Corn shrimp wrap» for appetizers, and then I love to eat the very refreshing and bright «grill and green» salad with beef and chili lime dressing. The beef is cut thinly and cooked at medium rare, so it is nice and tender slices of beef.
The other delicious dish here that is super reasonably priced and I adore is the «Beef noodle soup» and I always order it with udon noodles instead because I love the chewy & chubby texture of udon in my beef soups over the traditional rice noodle.
Finally, we also will get «Young Chow fried rice (all meats and shrimp)» and we keep it in the fridge and will have it over the next few days as a side with our other dinners since it keeps well… and with a touch of sesame oil and a toss in the frying pan, reheats really nicely.
I imagine there are plenty more amazing dishes here and we will continue to explore them!

We just got home after having lunch at the Jade Bistro. Our friends have been raving about it since we first met them and we were so happy it was every bit as good as they said. The food is very well priced. The décor is above and beyond most Asian restaurants we have been in. We all had a different item from the lunch menu. For $ 8.95 you get a spring roll, soup and your pick of 17 entrees. Mixture of Vietnamese, Chinese and Thai dishes. My biggest challenge was what to order, they all looked so good.
We will be back and this will now be our go to place when we are in the area.

I’m really giving this place 2.5 stars. I got the egg rolls and phở tai chin (phở with rare beef and cooked beef) to go. The egg rolls were wrapped in a terribly thick wrapper and were worse than what you would get at Panda Express. I was actually glad that the portion of the egg rolls was small even though it cost an expensive $ 6. The phở was subpar as well as I couldn’t identified what cut of beef was present for both the rare and cooked portions. I’m no phở connoisseur even though I’m 100% Vietnamese, but the phở broth was too salty and had what I’m assuming to be a lot of MSG. (I had the MSG symptoms after eating here– headache, dry mouth, and extreme thirst).
It’s a shame because I really wanted to like this place based on the cleanliness factor and the nice ambience. Hopefully the chefs will shape up and rival other Vietnamese eateries in the area.

My good Unilocal friend Coty S. and her husband Paul hosted an unofficial Unilocal event at Jade Bistro in Pinellas Park to allow us to experience a Vietnamese dining delicacy known as «Seven Courses of Beef».
Our group arrived on a Saturday afternoon, and quickly took up our positions at two circular tables, each with a grill in the center. Coty had pre-​arranged all of the ordering so the only decision that we needed to make was our drinks. As with all of Coty’s UYE’s, she gave us an introduction into this type of meal, and shared some very funny stories about her travels in Asia while we ate.
In addition to being a gracious hostess, Coty very kindly explained each course and helped us to understand what to expect and what we should do. We started with Bo Nhung Dam (My apologies for my awful Vietnamese spelling, and even worse pronunciations!) which was a plate with raw slices of beef which we cooked in a vinegared fondue broth. This is where the fun began…
This was kind of like The Melting Pot on steroids. You daintily grasp a piece of beef in your chopsticks, swish it a few times through the heated vinegar, and then throw that bad boy down onto some rice paper. Add the appropriate pickled vegetables and roll it all up so that it looks like a Spring roll. Let’s just say that it was easier said than done, and there were some tremendous moments of laughter as we bungled our way through the first course. «Holy crap, that’s the size on an elephant turd. How are you going to eat that thing???»
Next came the beef salad (Goi Bo), and this was a tasty salad of shredded veggies and cooked beef. Grab your chopsticks and get to it.
After that came three different courses at once: grilled ground beef wrapped in wild betel leaves (Bo Cuon La Lot), grilled strips of beef rolled around scallion heads (Bo Nuong Cu Kieu), and finally grilled ground beef wrapped in lacy caul fat (Bo Nuong Mo Chai). I made the mistake of Googling «caul fat» to see what it was while eating this course, and nearly had a ‘projectile incident’. Don’t ask, don’t tell…
Course #6 was steamed ground beef patties served with prawn crackers (Cha Dum Bo), and I liked this a lot. Course #6 made up for the caul fat choking incident.
And finally Course #7 was beef congee (a warm semi-​sweet rice porridge with grilled beef on top) (Chao Bo). This was definitely an odd taste, and a strange flavor to have on your tongue at the end of the meal.
In summary, I tried a lot of very different flavors and textures, many of which were new to me. I very much enjoyed being surrounded by friends, and having an educated hostess to guide me through the trials and tribulations of daintily swishing my beef through the heated vinegar, and then trying to roll it all up in a piece of rice paper. I have no idea what my face must have looked like once I discovered what caul fat truly is, but thankfully a well-​placed napkin kept me from having an embarrassing moment.
The congee was probably my least-​favorite dish just because it was so unusual and had an odd after-​taste. I think I would have been happier with a bowl of coconut ice cream decorated with a Slim Jim, but that option was not on the menu.
I thank my friends Coty and Paul for introducing me to something very different, and for the most part, very delicious!

Jade symbol high end gem in oriental culture. This restaurant start with the name with Jade is meaning for high society dinning for Vietnamese food. We try out this restaurant since many of our friends have checking in at this restaurant.
We went there for our dinner and we are going to try the non phở items. We have order the grilled short rib and the caramelized pork belly. This two dish certainly look very good when they present to us. Look can be sometime deceiving us. The taste of the short is just so so. It does cook right but not best flavor. The pork belly is a bit tough on skin to bite. But the caramelized does a good job. It have good flavor.
There is no fireworks on the food. There is mix feeling on their food. I just wonder we hit the off night of the chef. One dish material preparation is off and the other with the seasoning is off. The service is good. It has potential to be good on other items but not the night we have visit.

I got the seafood phó and it was delicious! Enough to share with someone else and get an appetizer.

I had the Korean style beef short rib. The presentation looked pretty. The flavor was good. But there was more fat than actual meat out of the ribs. Veget on the side was fresh. Rice was OK.

In an area with quite a few Vietnamese restaurants, Jade Bistro is a highlight. The unassuming exterior gives way to a clean, modern interior that’s as comfortable for lunch as it is for date night. My dining companion and I both enjoyed our dishes — she ordered beef and mine was vegetarian. Service was attentive, food was fresh. Looking forward to my next visit!

This was a first visit to Jade Bistro and will not be the last! The food, service, atmosphere, cleanliness. All 5 star. Try the Tamarind shrimp w avocado was Divine. Summer rolls and veg soup, hot tea made a delicious meal, served by pleasant and
attentive servers. Yum yum!

I’m asian and had a hard time looking for real vietnamese traditional dish, and finally found this place where they make the best canh chua or hot and sour vietnamese soup! And on my 2^nd time there I order nem nuong, one of the best! Must try!
The service is decent, and the place is nice and clean. Not easy to find the place at first but now I know and will be a regular.

Jade Bistro is an oriental restaurant that is pleasant and very clean inside. I went here with a large group of people. The restaurant had prepared a buffet dinner for the group. There were 4 entries as well as soup and a carrot cake. Everyone was happy with their food — I didn’t hear any complaints about the food or service. The prices are reasonable and the service was very good, especially since we had such a large group.
I checked the health department rating of the restaurant before I went to the dinner. Jade Bistro has received very good evaluations for the last several inspections. You can check out your favorite restaurants at this site:

Even though they committed the cardinal sin of bringing out all of my food at the same time (is it REALLY that difficult to stagger the courses???), I was very happy with my meal.
The corn wrapped shrimp rolls were pretty good, the won ton soup some of the best I’ve ever tasted and the main course of Sizzling Seafood, which was lobster, shrimp, scallop and calamari in a nice white sauce with vegetables, was delicious. The service was pretty good, except for serving everything at once.
This restaurant is a keeper, folks.

Love it! So glad I found this place through a Groupon. We ordered summer rolls and Phở and it was delicious. Totally hit the spot after eating too much fried foods.

With a few exceptions, Groupon business are hardly amazing. Luckily, this is one of those exceptions.
Well, sadly, we couldn’t use the Groupon. It said dine in only, and then stated the dinner hours. Apparently, that was a typo, and I was supposed to say dinner only. Oh well. Luckily, they did have lunch specials. They were a good deal at $ 8.95.
The servers were very helpful and welcoming. The interior was nothing fancy but was very clean and pretty attractive, especially judging on the exterior.
The lunch special case with a egg roll and soup of the day. To my delight, the egg roll offered was of the Vietnamese variety, not the yucky Chinese type. The soup of the day today was vegetable soup. It was a clear broth with cabbage, broccoli, peas, and carrots. It was better than expected.
I had ordered the pad thai. I just oddly overcame a longstanding peanut allergy, so I can’t compare the authenticity of the dish to others. It was very good. The sauce was a tad spicy and sweet. The egg was cooked very well, and not dry of overly eggy tasting. My only complaints are that I wish the noodles were flat, and there wasn’t a whole lot of chicken. Nevertheless, it was a tasty dish.
The phở tai ordered by someone else in our party was some of the best I’ve had in this area. I think I liked it more than Tasty Phở a little further down the road. The lemongrass pork was oh-​so-​tender and delicious.
Pretty much, this place turned out to be way better than I thought it would be. With the great service, reasonable prices and amazing food, we don’t need the unused Groupon as an excuse to come back.

Great service. We ordered the shrimp with rice clay pot and the udon noodles and seafood clay pot and it was very good. The dishes were sweet and spicy. For dessert we had the fried bananas and coconut ice cream which is a must have.

The only benchmark I have on Vietnamese food is Phở beef noodle. I pondered to write a fair review after a superb UYE event organized by our awesome Coty S.
The event, ‘7 courses beef dinner,’ was educational. Coty gave detailed explanation of each course and demonstrated the proper way to wrap the abundant ingredients with rice paper. I sampled beef cooked in soup, with porridge, and with mysterious sauce. The combination are interesting, and the event accomplished its objective. Now, I pocked couple more benchmarks.
Being a good cook and a spoiled Chinese, obviously, my taste buds are not easily compromised by flavors slightly short of complexity. However, if I rest my bias aside, I like the restaurant for its simplicity. The clean taste of Vietnamese cuisine is truly refreshing. For me, a glass of Chardonnay with Jade’s fresh spring roll, or a bottle of Malbec with ‘seven course beef’ share with friends in a lazy, hot Florida Saturday afternoon at Jade unwinds my mind. If Jade was on the beach, I would be there everyday to enjoy the freshness of the Vietnamese food and the warm hospitality from the owner. «Life can be summertime when it’s really fall» (Cleveland and Choir).

The «Bò 7 món», or beef 7 ways, was amazing! For starters there is thin slices of beef for you to cook in a seasoned hot pot of broth. This is accompanied by fresh veggies, rice papers for wrapping and a spicy sauce for dipping. The fun was trying to successfully make a roll. It was all yummy no matter how it got to your mouth!
This was followed by a flavorful beef salad filed with herbs and veggies. Next was a selection of grilled beef rolled in leaves, meat around onions, a meat loaf with glass noodles, and flavorful meatballs. These were served with crispy praw crackers. The whole meal was topped off with a congee of rice and beef. Soothing and relaxing, it was a pleasant ending to the meal.

My second Home!!! I always come here after a long night and a nice bowl of phở always makes it better! It’s always consistent & always delicious. The service is great and quick as well. Def the best phở in the bay!

Update.
They took the booths out and it’s a little more open and the tables are much better than the booths.
We pass little strips malls everyday and often see a restraurant usually in them. Jade bistro is not exception, everyday I drive to and pass the strip mall it’s located in. I never thought to stop in until my parents had food delivered from food now and told me home good it was.
Finally a friend and I went for dinner, we walked in and only saw a couple people eating which made me a little nervous. We decided to sit in the booth rather than table, I would say the table will win out next time we go. Sitting in the booths was like being on a boat in rough seas, every time the person on the other side moved you would move.
On to the good stuff, the food. Our server was very nice she gave suggestions and was nice enough to tell me about the Asian markets around town and what items to get at different markets. I got side tracked back I’m back to talking about the food I promise.
For an appetizer we had the seamed dumplings and my friend ordered Phở, I’m not sure which one. The dumplings came out nice and hot and were served with a dipping sauce. It wasn’t like the sauce I ve had before that’s soy based, it was a creamy sauce that was very good. As for our main dishes I had the chicken phở and my friend had beef and broccoli. He really ended his beef and broccoli, but the broccoli was a little too crunchy. My Phở came out with a plate of goodies, herbs, jalepeno, and bean sprouts. Everything was fresh, fully loaded with chicken and had wonderful flavor. The portion was so big I ended up taking it home and having it for too more meals. This was my first Phở expierence and it was delicious, everything was good and I can’t wait to go back. Maybe I should venture into strip malls more often, you never know what treasures you’ll find.

Why did I not try Jade Bistro before?!?
I am totally kicking myself for the years that I have been missing out on their amazing food! Jade has seriously re-​vitalized my love of Vietnamese food, and I have visited for two weekends in a row now— just to try something new every time.
The price on most dishes is about the same as all of the other Vietnamese restaurants on the Park Avenue strip, however the atmosphere at Jade is much more classy. There is nothing stuffy about this bistro, but there is definitely some attention to detail that I am not used to with other restaurants in the area. Even the iced coffee and lemonade sodas are served in fancy glasses for the same price. I am totally addicted to their Soda Chanh, fresh squeezed lemon lime soda. So fresh that there is often granulated sugar still swirling in the bottom of the glass when I receive the drink.
The nuoc cham (house dipping sauce) contains more garlic than most places, and is my favorite in the Tampa Bay area. The way that the garlic and chilies are broken up in the sauce makes me think that they were mulled with a mortar and pestle, but I don’t know for sure.
Sure, you can order Phở or Bun Bo Hue here… You would probably be better off ordering their Tour of Beef, their 7 course beef dinner for two for $ 39.99 (from the menu insert), to try something totally different. Don’t get me wrong, the Phở is damn good, too.
But, my favorite are you dishes you only see on travel channels— where the host is walking about and trying food at a market or food cart. There are dishes in the appetizer section of the menu at Jade Bistro that I have never seen on a menu before in this country. My two favorites:
1. Cha Gio Re — Also, called Autumn Roll. Super whispy-​crispy-​covered thin fried rolls served with herbs, lettuce, and nuoc cham. Tightly wrap the roll and herbs inside the lettuce and dip into the sauce. It is heavenly.
2. Canh Ga Chien Me– Tamarind Chicken wings in a sticky and sour dark sauce. The color is almost as beautiful as the taste. Make sure to order these wings fried very crispy.

There are three different kinds of Bun Xeo served, but they are not crispy enough for my liking. Ben Thanh has my favorite Bun Xeo.
Even the entrees are served in a different style than usual, and from various regions, like the Bun Han Noi: Pork Meatballs and Belly in a lemongrass soupy-​sauce, where you assemble the noodles, herbs, greens, and pickles as you eat. It is nice to be served this way, where you can adjust to your taste, instead of having everything piled in a heaping bowl together. Just having that option is worth visiting Jade Bistro on a regular basis for me.
