River Place Inn

If you want a place just to shower and sleep this is a great place. The river view is ok but not breathe taking. The carpet in our room wasn’t tacked down all the way so we kept stepping on nails I would not recommend this hotel if you are planning on spending a lot of time in your room with family, friends, partying. But just to sleep and shower it’s good!

Pros: mattresses that look brand new/​the river view on the balcony (which costs extra)/free wifi
Cons: partially ripped up carpet with nails sticking out all through the way to the bathroom (ouch for bare feet!)/stained sheets/​stained chair/​unclean bathroom/​pubic hairs on the shower curtain and «clean» sheets/​lack of parking due
I appreciate the good deal I got on this room by booking with Expedia, but next time I’ll spend extra to make sure I have a clean room to stay in.

The website advertises this place as a quiet, quaint stay in the Smoky Mountains, overlooking a river. The reality is that is in the middle of the busiest, tourist strip in the town. It’s in the heart of go kart tracks, arcades and traffic galore. Seriously, don’t plan on driving anywhere.
I reserved a king suite with a balcony. The room itself was old and dingy, but appeared clean. There was no balcony and the TV did not work.
It was an inexpensive room, so I guess you get what you pay for.

We stay in the motel part. The room was small and dingy. The tub did not drain and shot water out at your knees. We called and a person came with Drano and a plunger. She promised us a new room in the morning. By morning the tub was draining but still shot out water and the shower head no longer turned off. We did not go to another room since we had to wait till after 10 for a room and we had plans for the day. Since the tub was at least draining, we only asked for a discount on the room. We didn’t get anything for our trouble. When we left on Sunday, we need ice. You had to pay a quarter for ice. The machine at our section didn’t work and we had to walk a good distance to the next section across the street to their machine. There is plenty of other places to stay in Pigeon Forge; I would recommend going elsewhere.

DO NOT STAY HERE! If I could give this place no stars I would! First off I had to clean the toilet myself it was disgusting and had pubic hairs all over it. Tried to take a shower before we left the next morning the drain was clogged and filling up with nasty brown water. Tried to get a refund for at least some of my money and apparently it’s our fault that our room was nasty, because we didn’t call the «24 hour maid service» that we were not informed of… Also the manager was insanely rude! As soon as I mentioned getting my money back she had an attitude and her tone of voice went up. When I finally got her to refund some of my money it was only going to be the $ 15 pet fee out of the $ 97 we paid. I finally had enough of her and lost my temper. Out of all the yelling and proof of unsanitary conditions I only got my pet fee back. I have pictures of the dirty toilet and the nasty water in the tub as well. Will be posting pics later. Also if you want your money back do not tell her you are writing a bad review or she will change her mind I had to get my husband to get the refund.

This motel has strange wake up calls. Geese squawking on one side, small children on the other. Where are the parents? Sounds like someone dribbling a basketball upstairs for the past hour. Random people yell. I think they’re staging a battle against the wildlife. Need coffee. How do you work this drip grind? Too bad this is a one cup brewer. Were it larger it would make a better thermal weapon. How does anyone sleep here? Are you people paid to create this much noise?

This place was one of the cheapest in the area but the accommodations were great! The place was clean and they had a lot of cable channels.
The only thing not working was the wifi but they are close enough to everything that I had good mobile data (Sprint).

My husband and I needed a place for the night at the last minute and this place was nearby and cheap. For the price, it was very comfortable and clean with some superficial problems (loose ceiling tile in the bathroom, light bulb out, etc). Our only complaint was that the wifi didn’t work. If you’re just looking for a place to lay your head at the end of the day, it’s a great choice.
