Lisa wonderful. She is very nice and gives you an amazing cut. I came here about 6 months ago to get my hair trimmed I was a walk in and they took me in. After having my hair long for years I decided to make a drastic decision by cutting my hair short. I called Monday made and appointment for Thursday and got color cut and style in about an hour and a half.
Lisa was very helpful in helping me decide how short I wanted to go and how short I should go being that this is my first time getting my hair cut this short. In the end color, cut and style I am completely happy with the results and will be coming back in soon for the up keep and possible going shorter!

My friend and I got our nails done yesterday and Leah did an incredible job! I have never had a better manicure in my life. Like previous reviewers have mentioned, Leah is up on all the latest nail art techniques and looks for inspiration in a lot of different places. She is so skilled, her art is beautiful, you never feel rushed, and she is an awesome person who’s great to talk with as well. I’m so glad I found her!

I’m so happy I finally decided to book an appointment here. I had the best facial with Leanne on Saturday, she’s very knowledgeable and has a gentle hand. The products she uses are amazing my skin felt refreshed and healthy. The place itself is adorable quaint and comfortable, I booked again in 4 weeks and can’t wait to go back. This place is so cute! I got a manicure/​pedicure earlier this week and it was perfect: Leah did a great job on my nails (she was meticulous — I’ve never had someone do my nails without a single slip up) and the atmosphere was so relaxing. Plus it’s in adorable house, which I love. I will definitely come back — I want to try more of their services!

I do not get many manicures ever. I think I’ve had five in my life. Anyway, the gel manicure was amazing, and Leah created a cool ombré effect on the nails with pink and silver sparkles. She painted birds on my accent nails. Leah is super friendly, and it was fun to get my nails done.

As a hairy guy it’s important to find a good place to get a trim. So why not go to Lisa and have a great chat on life. All I have to do is sit down and she does the rest. No worries.
The atmosphere of old house is perfect. She even puts up with my jokes. Support this great family business.

I love this place. LeAnne is an incredible waxer, and makes the experience as painless as possible with ZERO awkwardness. She is super detailed and meticulous in her waxing, so there are absolutely no strays when she is done. The space is really beautiful, very charming, very funky, with a super-​soothing waxing room.

Five stars for Leah’s amazing nail art services. Her work is incredibly detailed, especially when it comes to floral patterns (my favorite). She has recreated designs inspired by Anna Rifle Bond (from Rifle Paper Co) and they’ve actually turned out better than the originals! Simply outstanding. Leah is a stylist who values and is tuned in to Japanese nail artistry which is rare in Arizona. Anyone that passionate about their craft deserves your business!

Every time I walk in to The Roose, I feel such a rush of relief and relaxation! I don’t always know what I want to do to my style, but I do know that LeAnne and Lisa will take great care of me.
LeAnne has waxed my eyebrows and Lisa has cut my hair for the last year an a half.
It’s easy to schedule an appointment, which is great for my ever-​changing work schedule. Oh, and the music is always spot on!

Lisa gave me the haircut I have been asking for the last 6 months. Everyone was friendly and relaxed. Can’t wait to go back!

Moved down to phoenix and I didn’t have a new waxer yet so I decided to try Roose since I live nearby and I couldn’t be happier with my decision, LeAnne was awesome! It can be awkward getting a new bikini waxer, but she was so professional and made the process as comfortable as possible with good convo and telling me about the products and what not. I definitely recommend!

I moved downtown over a year ago and have tried several salons to find the right fit. I am super picky so needless to say I had a tough time. Luckily I found The Roose, but more importantly I met Lisa. Not only is she a talented hair dresser, she is a sweet soul and a kind lady. I have been a die hard Aveda junkie for years and after one appointment with Lisa I broke up with Aveda and found a new home for my hair.
I’ve read the reviews posted here and am surprised and saddened by what Jessica B wrote… I’ve been a client of Lisa’s for awhile now and it is just not in her nature to be rude or abrasive. I think it is terribly irresponsible of Jessica to compromise someone’s livelihood by sharing untruths.
I hope this review will help anyone who is looking for a hairdresser downtown. As far as I am concerned The Roose and Lisa Rock the Casbah!

I received a gift card here for my birthday and decided to get a pedicure. It was wonderful! This is a great small local business in downtown Phoenix. It is located in an old house at 6^th St and Roosevelt and it has great character. It feels so comfortable inside and very relaxing. The staff were all extremely friendly and I had a great time. Courtney did a great job on my pedicure, it turned out beautifully! I think I will definitely try getting my hair done there next time as well.

Ever since my stylist left the business I’ve been a lost soul with a bad haircut. After two failed attempts elsewhere I discovered The Roose in Elle magazine. I’m not into expensive haircuts, I’m even a home-​color girl, but you still want to leave there feeling good that your cut was done well.
The Roose is a converted house downtown with plenty of street parking. It’s small and cozy and I guess they offer an array of spa services as well. My only negative was that, as a first impression, it was fairly dirty. Not just hair on the floor from the day but back around behind the mirrors and baseboards, like it hadn’t been cleaned in a while. I wasn’t sure where to put my purse as there was hair everywhere.
My appt was with Lisa and I told her from the start how my last haircut left me scraggly. She began her game plan much different from recent cuts I’ve had, so I patiently waited for the magic. Then she explained to me why she was cutting the way she was, and how the previous stylist must have approached it. She was right!
It’s funny how in the shop the cut seems to look good, but it’s when you get home and play with it a little that you find the mistakes. Not this time! Great haircut and they even offer 10% off for first time clients!

After living downtown for years, I finally decided to stop in and am so happy I did! The salon is in a cute, older house off of Roosevelt, and it is styled comfortably to reflect the area it is in, including artwork for sale along the walls. The owners are family, so not only do you get to pat yourself on the back for supporting local, but also for contributing to a family-​owned business.
I saw Courtney for a mani/​pedi and she did an impeccable job. She left no air bubbles behind, despite using three coats of color (I needed nude nails for a wedding). The manicure was so solid that it lasted a week, despite all the binge cleaning I do without wearing gloves.
I also saw LeAnne for an eyebrow wax, and she might just be the sweetest gal I’ve ever let touch my face. I usually feel rushed in-​and-​out of salons when I get my brows done, but LeAnne actually carried on a conversation with me and took her time getting my brows just right. And, she didn’t wax them into thin little lines, thank goodness!
Also, when I paid for my services, I got a discount since it was my first time in. A sweet little bonus!
I definitely plan on coming back when I want to treat myself to a spa day!

I hate to write this review but I’m still so appalled by my experience there. To begin, this was my second time at the salon. Went a couple months prior for a haircut after I read such positive reviews. Got an appointment with Lisa, as AJ was all booked up. Went in for just a trim and she did just a fine job. Nothing to write home about but certainly got most of the split ends out.
So it was time for another trim. This time I was going in with a mission, my wedding is coming up so I knew it was crucial time to get my hair as healthy as it ever could be. My hair is naturally wavy and I usually straighten it, so I went in to see Lisa and said as soon as I sat down, «Need to trim and get all the split ends off and I really need to wear my hair wavy so I can lay off the hair iron up until the wedding. Please style my hair wavy and show me what I can do with it because I don’t know what to do with it»
After she looked at my hair and started cutting, she quickly without thinking about what she was saying or how she was saying it, told me that my hair was thinning and that it was in horrible shape. She told me that I have a huge bald spot in the back of my hair and that she will try her best to cut my hair so you can’t really see but she can’t promise me anything. She told me to throw away all of the shampoo and conditioner that I was using and try something more expensive. She didn’t give me any recommendations of course, just told me that everything i was doing i was doing wrong.
So there I am, going into a complete panic attack because I had just been told that I’m loosing my hair and it’s so fragile that even wind would break it and I’m about to get married… Did anyone every teach you bedside manner??? Instead of helping me figure out the best plan of action for how to get my hair back to the way it should, how to rescue it, no, she just cut my hair and then while I’m completely dazed, she blow dries my hair straight! I look up and see that my hair is straight and say «Hey! I wanted you to show me how to do my hair natural!» and she said «Oh but it will look best this way»…Are you kidding me? You tell me that my hair is horrible and then you use heat on it??? Where am I?
Needless to say, I’ve now moved on to another more professional hair salon and my hair is completely back to normal. My hair is thick and strong. The real kicker is that the other hair dresser I immediately saw after said it wasn’t bad at all and there was no bald patch. Why would you do that to somebody?
I’m sure AJ is a great hairstylist as all the reviews indicate, unfortunately the same cannot be said about Lisa. Just because she’s family doesn’t mean you need to hire them. Don’t get me wrong, Lisa is a very nice lady, but she should not be cutting hair at that level. That was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a hair salon.

Love the way Lisa cuts my hair! The Roose is a fantastic Salon where you can be sure get great service & good stories that are sure to make you laugh.

Time to time you will find great people and great service, I can speak for my dew and tell you that AJ is one of the most talented stylest in the country. She has worked overseas and brings a great concept in her work. The Roose carry great products that you can’t find at to many places in town, I have followed AJ for many years. Now that she has her own place I hope she stays here forever!
