The Colonnade Apartments

i have been living here for 13yrs lol so i guess u can tell it is a good place to live. i love the elevator that we have and the pools are awesome. not heated so dont get that excited but it is resort style. cant lie the apartment that i live in is one of the older apartments so sometimes i have to call maintence but they come in a good amount of time so no complains about that. and its in the heart of the camelback corrdior so its sooooo easy to just wake up and make a whole day of something without even having to drive. its wonderful if you like bars and restaurants alot becasue they are EVERYWHERE!!!

I moved in to the Colonnade Apartments last March. I am happy with my renovated unit, the quick response of maintenance and office staff and the neighborhood. This is the first time I have not been an owner in over 30 years and I love the lack of responsibility. There are issues with any rental that would not be acceptable to an owner. There is constant upgrade work going on and I am waiting for my areas to be finished. Love the TV and the inexpensive DirectTV/​internet service. I saw ONE bug and the office responded within an hour. I make use of all of the facilities, including exercise facilities, pool and ice cream socials.

I’ve lived here a little over a a year. This is honestly one of the worst places to live in the Phoenix area. There are places worst areas with much better living conditions. I have seen it all. I moved here from Los Angeles thinking I had found a great place to live in my first year in Phoenix. I’ve lived in better homes in the worst places in Los Angeles. Readers this place is a pile of shit. Don’t move in. It’s not worth it. I have had problems with this complex from day 1 and honestly am ready to surrender the apartment and break the lease I signed. I moved in and nothing was ready at all. There was pieces of the ceiling missing. An old rug. Lights not working. Calling glue and building supplies left in the rooms. This place is a mess the people that manage under Poly and Beyonci are all a mess they’re always differ t people. Prolly is honestly the worst. She doesn’t follow up doesn’t listen and doesn’t care. It’s always different employees. Beyonci is honestly the only one who has ever been helpful her and a girl named Colleen who used to work here that they fired. It’s terrible to live here. Things don’t get fixed. My neighbors upstairs toss cigarettes into my patio. The water isn’t ever hot and when it is you have to be careful not to get burned. The dishwasher doesn’t work. The oven smells my curling overhead fan on the stove is busted and nothing gets fixed. The ac sucks and honestly nothing here is worth it. Find somewhere better. There’s much better places than here then this place please don’t live here. I really urge it. Don’t.

if money is a huge concern and inconvenience isn’t an issue then move in. We do what we got to do, that is why I am here. For price/​locations on a budget this was the best place I found. Water is definitely an issue, the pressure is LOW, the faucets are ridicoulas, too much water so it sprays all over or too little. «New» toilets installed are disgusting and not even bolted down or input correctly, you can see where the old slightly bigger toilet was and gaps in the toilet to the flooring. Fitness facilities were closed for 6 months for «renovations» nothing was updated and half of the equipment has doesn’t work notes on them. The grounds are sometimes clean and sometimes not, total hit and miss. And on the weekends when more people are likely to enjoy they don’t have anyone keeping everything clean. Now we get a notice that laundry room effective IMMEDIATELY is closed for renovations until further notice well thanks for not giving us a notice this was happening and there should be an end date. They do this on a Friday like anyone is going to be doing work over the weekend, it doesn’t take that long to install new washer/​dryers so it should be open within a few days but based on the letter I am not holding my breath. And so nice of them to let us know we can carry our laundry (hopefully no one with any physical disabilities) to one of the other facilities in the middle of summer, who doesn’t enjoy carrying clothes around in 110 degree temps. My rent went up about $ 50 but not sure why nothing in my apartment changed, up to this point fitness facility closed but no renovations were actually done, they were just using for storage and now I have to trek to another building to do laundry hoping it is open in 110 temps. And they come into your apartment for one thing or another like every month, great that they leave you a letter that it is going to happen but why so often, nothing has changed! Need new refrigerators and stoves, they are ridiculously old and the stove smells like Gas. The a/​c sounds like it is a plane, so loud! Bummed that I resigned my lease a few months ago. Hopeful it will get better as they have soooo many new people working here but just playing it doesn’t continue to get worse! And if you report something that needs repair just assume it got fixed cause they don’t notify you either way. And they say they spray every other week, I so don’t believe that. They have been fixing this place up for almost a year that I have seen but I don’t see what has really changed to make things better.

Run!!! Sorry, but it’s true that this place is bad. I moved in March 12, 2015, because on March 11 my apartment was still not ready for move in. Luckily, I only signed an 8 month lease.
To start with the slew of problems this place has, let’s begin with the utilities that are included in the deal. The air conditioning is connected to other apartments and EVERY time I turn it on, the smell of Marijuana and everyone’s cooking comes lingering in. I accidentally left my ac on once while I was at work, and when I returned I was smacked in the face with the most pungent smell. It was like a skunk was cooking Indian food. So I started putting my fan in the window, reported it to the office numerous times, and called the cops, only to get the ‘sorry, but you’re screwed’ routine by everyone.
As a result of leaving my fan in the window, my apartment was broken into today and my laptop, iPod, PS3, and checkbook was stolen. Once again, I was basically told that I was screwed. What’s worse, is they did it in the middle of the day on a Sunday between 3 – 7 PM, and not a single neighbor saw or heard anything.
Numerous occasions I’ve witnessed the neighbors dealing drugs in the parking lots… Of all places… And have had numerous noise complaints about my neighbor playing his music so loud my walls vibrate. All of this has been met with ‘sorry, but you’re screwed’.
The office is doing nothing about this community’s issues, and the colonnade thinks by renovating these apartments that it will bring people in, but they are sorely mistaken. Great rent specials, but a terrible place to live. I imagine the concrete floor renovation is probably so that the criminals that live here don’t notice the difference between their apartment and their second home in jail.
To recap, don’t live here because:
1. Insanely High Amount of crime that no one is doing anything about. Drug dealers, drug addicts, thieves, and etc.
2. The free ac comes with the regularly horrendous smell from every other apartment.
3. The office does not do anything. Don’t believe this a drug free and crime free community; it is a blatant lie.
If you choose to live here out of necessity, sign the shortest possible lease. Take it from me, I am counting the days until I can get out of here. I might even take legal action to get out.

Absolutely hate it here! Management sucks, a/​c sucks, loud renovation sucks. Everything sucks! Especially the infested ass facility as a whole. I’m over this place. Lease is up in 2 months.
My main concern is the water. The boiler never works! And since it is always malfunctioning we are either left to take ice cold showers or have no water at all. I work until 10 pm, so when i get home i expect to take a warm shower. Not here you won’t! It seems as though the hot water goes off at a certain time. That certain time i always after i get home. Its ridiculous!
As others mentioned the a/​c and heater issue, I’ll mention it as well. Because they turn the boiler off and on, you don’t have the luxury of setting your desired temperature. For instance its been hot out lately so the heat has been y turned off until November, only cold air is available. Now that may not sound too bad, but it has been raining heavily the past couple of days. I would love to come in my apartment, turn on the heat and warm up after being drenched in rain water. Sadly that won’t be happening. If I’m cold i just have to suck it up or wrap myself in blankets because i cannot turn the heat on. Its really unfortunate!

DO NOT MOVE IN — Boiler system sucks. More ice cold water days with no hot water than days with water (then it’s scalding) management tells us they don’t know what to say, they’re working on it, but we’ve gone through this for months on end. Awful customer service, terrible grounds keeping, and they absolutely do not care about their breach of contract on utilities. AC gets turned on late when you’re already sweating, heat gets turned on weeks after you have to buy a space heater. Disgusting place.
Take heed to the reviews. I didn’t. I was warned about hot water issues. I asked the leasing office when I moved in. They said it was an issue «in the past» but it was resolved. That was a bold faced lie.

It is horrible here i just moved here a month ago and my apartment is falling apart i had called the office to let them not that my ceiling was leaking because of the a/​c it took them a week to come and take a look my carpet was all wet and started getting some type of flys in my apartment cause of the wet carpet thay started fixing my a/​c and left it unfinish with a big hole in the bedroom closet ceiling and living room ceiling they left a big mess not caring about my furnisher now im stock with all this construction in my apartment plus not having a/​c for a couple of weeks the persons that work in the office are unkind rude and dont care about anything going on and the neighbors are always fighting in the middle of the night i just cant wait till my lease is up next year

DO NOT MOVE HERE! Don’t even bother calling or stopping by.
I wish I could give this place negative stars. Perhaps the fact that I was finally getting my own place with my boyfriend clouded my judgement when we first looked at this place. It seemed like a decent place to live at the time. Boy, was I ever so WRONG.
It took them almost 2 weeks to call us back to let us know whether or not we even got approved for the apartment, we called every day and we’re told the manager was unavailable. We should have run just from that fact alone. We moved in April of last year, and admittedly, the first 6 weeks were fine.
It got hot quickly here in Phoenix, and we were so excited to have a pool to swim in — five, in fact! Too bad they were poorly maintained. Half of the time, the pools were closed because the filters broke or some other reason. The other half of the time, while they were operational, they were cloudy and smelled like excessive amounts of chlorine. We maybe went swimming three times.
Towards the beginning of July, I noticed that I was getting red bumps on my abdomen. I thought it was from the pools (so we stopped swimming in them). The bumps went away but came back a few days later. It wasn’t until I was sitting on the edge of the bed getting ready to leave for work that I noticed movement out of the corner of my eye. What did I see? A fat, red BEDBUG!
I freaked out and woke up my boyfriend and told him what I saw and asked him to go straight to the office since I had to go to work and it was too late to call in. I came home that night and he told me that it was about $ 340 for the extermination and carpet cleaning.
We spent 12 hours placing all of our fabric in trash bags and cleaning the place. We had to sleep on our couch without any pillows or blankets. We had to go to an off-​site laundromat and spend 6 hours washing all of the things we had placed in trash bags. We spent about $ 500 in total between the treatments, laundry, new pillows, and sheets.
We asked if anyone else had reported bedbugs, were told no and that they weren’t going to inspect the apartments around us even though we told them that our downstairs neighbor had left a mattress sitting outside for 2 weeks (what we believe to be the source of bugs).
Because the management had changed over the 3 weeks of treatments, the old company didn’t tell the new company about the situation, so when I went to the office to ask when they were supposed to clean our carpets, they had no idea what I was talking about and they made it seem like it was our fault that we didn’t notify them sooner, and we never heard back.
In October, they «updated» the lights, faucets, and toilets. They put in very bright bulbs that we cannot remove, sink faucets that either don’t put out enough water or put out so much that the water hits the bottom of the sink and splashes up and gets you all wet, and a toilet that doesn’t flush very well and gets dirty in the bowl after a day. They did this because of the high cost for them of the included utillities, but it screws the renter in the end.
It started to get pretty cold in the beginning of November, yet we had to wait 2 weeks for them to turn the boilers on so we could use our heater. This is Phoenix, so we obviously don’t have very thick blankets or comforters and sleeping in a cold place for a fortnight was miserable.
They are currently renovating the whole place and are adding DirecTV and free TV’s with their renovated units. Cool, right? Not when there is extremely loud construction noise RIGHT behind your bed that wakes you after only 4 hours of sleep. When the noise finally stops, it’s time to wake up anyway.
I have plenty more negative things to write but I simply don’t have the energy anymore. We are moving 2 miles away to a much nicer place at a much better price. The only thing I like about this place is the Armadillo Grill.
TL;DR: Don’t move here. Bedbugs. Unclean pools. Bedbugs. Rude management. Bedbugs. Bedbugs. Bedbugs.

I am giving the colonnade 1 star because I have to give it something. I have just recently moved out, and am really glad I did. I lived in the colonnade for 2years and mostly because it was a good location, and it was my first time on my own and I didn’t know better.
In my 2 years of living there I have seen management switch 3 times. The switch in management wouldn’t be so bad if things were actually getting better, but they never did. I must say that its not unusual for the pools to be green for a month or so every summer, and the common stairwells to be poorly light, dirty, and occasionally home to some of the biggest bugs I have ever seen. The elevator was frequently not working because of lack of maintenance, which wouldn’t be so bad if I wasn’t having to lug things up to the third floor.
I could bore you with all the stories of how things started breaking on the day I moved in, or how on 2 separate occasions I had to go without a toilet for 2−3days (even after calling the emergency maintenance line daily). Maintenance was around even though they rarely make an appearance when called. I know this because their golf carts were always in my parking spot, which I paid extra for every month.
The icing on the cake was when I moved out. On the day I went to give my notice, my rent magically went up $ 100 per month. Then when I proved that it wasn’t in my lease they told me they were actually giving me a discount. If that wasn’t enough, 2 weeks after I moved out they sent me a bill for over $ 500.00 stating I had damaged the apartment. When I called them the first 2 days I was told the manager was too busy to deal with me. I have pretty much called everyday for 2 weeks and still have yet to here from them.
To anyone who plans on living here, I hope you’re handy and carry sanitizer with you to the fitness room, which NEVER gets cleaned.

I moved into Colonade in January of this year and am glad to say that I am moving out. These apartments are not well built and have been falling apart since the beginning of my lease here. When you move into the apartment, it is poorly cleaned and smells of cigarettes and mildew. The neighbors are extremely loud and scream throughout the night. Management is poor and doesn’t seem to address problems whether you call them or the problem is in plain sight. Don’t move to Colonade. It’s not worth the money and you would do better living in a shelter.

Well I never Lived Here. But I got a really nice look at the place when I tracked my stolen iPhone To an apartment there. You have to love the find my iPhone app! You could see it was in one specific section of the apartments… The police was nice enough to come out and knock on the doors, However most of the people who live there simply turn off the lights and didn’t answer the door. It’s that kind of friendly place. So here’s what you do if you want to live with people who will steal somebody’s iPhone from a clothing store Changing room, Definitely move there.

I just resigned my lease earlier this month for another year. I really regret my decision to stay. In the year I have lived here I have had nothing but problems mostly with maintenance but lately with the leasing office. I’ve had maintenance in my apartment without permission and without living notice they were even there or that they fixed the problem. With the leasing office the lost one of my money orders from June and beginning of October I was made aware of a past due amount on my account. When the leasing office confirmed they did not cash that money order I was told I had to pay to retrieve my money and I was only offered sorry this was a mistake made from previous management. This place could care less about their residents, they have no clue how to run their office and the people who work there are constantly changing therefore no one knows what to do. I would never recommend this as a place to live to anyone.

Roaches. Seriously. Need I say more? We started seeing them on move in day, before we even got stuff in the door, so it’s not because we’re filthy and attracting the critters-​they were already there. I realize that once a building gets them, they’re nearly impossible to get rid of, but there must be something management can do. Or maybe they should just knock this place down and start over.

GOD AWFUL! COCKROACH COLONNADE!
We needed a place while looking for a house in the area, stayed 4 months.
I have them one star cuz a lower rating will not post.
Issues in order of impact on my psyche:
1) Brown FECAL water poured out of our sink one afternoon. After threatening to call OSHA, Bio-​hazard, & the Landlord-​tenants assoc, management sent a plumber (who snaked the sink), then later a wet-​vac guy. The same day, after sucking up our fecal-​contaminated carpets, we were expected to just go back to life as normal. YUCK!
2) COCKROACH INFESTATION. Turns out, one of the wonderfully colorful tenants had over a dozen cats and did not do much clean up. Management fumigated and we had move all our stuff and flee. We decided to move out two weeks early.
3) Sewer gnats (or flies?) came out of the sink every day. We had to buy and keep plastic covers on the kitchen sink.
4) Traffic is terrible during rush hour (both in and out).
THE GOOD: Location, walking to shop and eat.

I’ve been a resident of this «beautiful» community for three years. Three years too many. I have dealt with several unbecoming situations in this complex including a used condom taped to my door, a combative leasing staff, being walked in on naked by contractors this company has hired. Dirty grounds over run with stray cats and cigarette butts. Save yourself the application fee and RUN!!! This place is horrible and I can’t wait until my lease is up so I can be done with this living hell. I have been startled awake many times in the night having to call the police due to domestic violence issues. So much, so that the police dispatcher knows my voice! Management gave a «devil may care» attitude regarding such a dangerous situation. For your safety and health, DO NOT RENT HERE! DO NOT MAKE THESE PEOPLE ANY RICHER!!!

Not a very good place at all. Be very careful of this place as they tack on all kinds of move-​out charges. They make you show a receipt that the apartment has been «professionally cleaned» when move out. I had my neighbor clean the place as she did an exceptional job. Because she is not a registered cleaning company, they charged me $ 130 for not having a registered company clean the apartment. Also, make sure that you pay rent before the first of the month if it falls on a holiday. They charged me $ 75 for not paying them on time because they were closed on the first of the month. Because they decided to close on the first, they charged other tenants and I $ 75 for supposedly paying late. Be very careful if you decide to live at this apartment complex.
