Wow. Sun devil auto store #27 has it going on. Today’s visit was without a doubt the most ‘pleasant’ experience that I have ever had regarding an automobile service and/​or repair. Craig and his team were ready when I arrived for my reservation. I was greeted politely and professionally. The store #27 crew were courteous and respected my time concerns. After years of being bullied by the dealership I was surprised how good I felt after giving these guys $ 500. Thumbs up.

They’re relatively quick with an appointment, have inexpensive oil change pricing and rotated my tires without charging me. This last oil change they told my husband there was a transmission fluid leak, but couldn’t specify the location of the leak. I took it to another shop today who couldn’t locate any leak at all. I’ve heard from other people who have been there that they felt the mechanics will recommend other services that aren’t necessary. I’ll keep coming back for the inexpensive oil change but if they tell me there’s something wrong I will always take it somewhere else for a second opinion.

Brought in a 2009 Honda CRV with what seemed to be a disintegrating brake caliper The car made an ungodly sound while in motion. We’re a one-​car family and work together in the West Valley, so we sucked it up, driving slowly through the work week. I assumed the caliper was falling apart and would need both that and a new rotor.
Brought it in early Saturday morning, wondering how our meager teacher-​salaries would be impacted. They called a couple hours later and said a dust cover near the rotor had been dented in enough to cause contact with the rotor, presumably by road debris. They inspected all the brakes, corrected the dent, and charged us NOTHING. Zero dollars. Zero cents.
These guys have made customers for life.

Okay, so yesterday I got a simple oil and oil filter change at this new-​to-​me shop, they got me in immediately and did a nice job. I am in the market for a new service tech, as my long-​time go-​to outfit downtown recently closed shop. The car I brought in is old and has many known problems and is about to be replaced, and I told the folks at Sun Devil that I was not in the market for spending anything on it other than to simply refresh the oil and check the brakes. They went ahead and presented me with the very lengthy and comprehensive list of what the car needed. It was actually taking quite a few minutes for Carlos to pull the printout of recommended services together. Again, I told him I was not interested in any of it. However, upon reflection, I realize he did something important for me – he provided me information of what they COULD do if I wanted. And that is valuable to me, as we are about to buy a new car and I am looking for a new non-​dealer service outfit. Now some might think of this as pushiness, and if you don’t know anything about cars, you might feel somewhat intimidated. Not me. I left feeling informed that this crew could handle just about anything of a semi-​routine mechanical nature. Really. Good on Carlos, very effective communicator I think. Now I would still want to become more aware of whether the costs of the services they suggested are competitive, but they provided detailed and believable information in that regard as well. In short, they will make the short list in our search for a new long-​term service relationship

These guys were amazing. I showed up close to the end of business on a Friday. They fixed the drip tray under my radiator and replaced my old windshield wipers… for free! I will definitly be back for my auto mechanical needs.

Very attentive, very quick, very respectful and won’t do unnecessary work just to get your money! Craig won’t steer you wrong with your car at this place!

Greedy! I recently purchased Gates belts from Oreilly’s and simply didn’t have time install them so I called this place to get a price on labor. As it turns out they only install parts THEY buy, which they can mark up greatly to make more profits. Gates are arguably the best belts made, and I still had them in the new packaging, purchased two weeks ago. Didn’t matter…
Profit is one thing, greed is another, and this place is all about ripping people off. Avoid them.

Nice group of people and honest in their work. I stopped in for some routine maintenance on my vehicle and everything went well and on time as they quoted.
No upsets of fast talking salesmen here, very nice and courteous, and give ample time to educate and explain the process and problems to each customer.

Couldn’t ask for better service on my vehicle! They were fast and friendly. Will be servicing my vehicle here from now on! Thanks Devan for all your help!

Was in town visiting family and needed to have an oil change done on my 92 miata. Devan was very helpful and everything was fairly priced.

I took my car in for an oil change this past week and had a great experience! I had never been to this location but since I was in the area and was extremely over due for an oil change I thought I would try them out. I was in and out in about 30 minutes! Even though they were extremely busy and had many other cars that were being worked on they took great care of me, especially Devan. He was friendly, welcoming, and made me feel comfortable about the service being done to my car. No surprise bill — no trying to get me to fix things that did not need to be fixed — just great timely service! I will be back again! Thank you!

Scott is a car repair genius. He is also very honest and knowledgeable. He has a great team. He gave Jarvus some new brakes — no more rust or squeak! Great neighborhood repair shop.

Stunningly incompetent. I had no agenda going in. I just wanted the $ 17.95 oil change and tire rotation. After I got home, the next day I noticed a pool under my car. When I examined it closer, it was oil. I realized that they hadn’t tightened the oil drain plug properly after changing the oil. They literally couldn’t do an oil change properly. I had to tighten the plug myself.
While I was at the shop, they also said I needed new windshield wipers ($ 20). I declined and looked them over when I got home. There was nothing wrong with the wipers… They work fine.
They said it would be a 2-​hour wait to change the oil, but I expected that. I took my tablet to connect to the Wi-​Fi. I was able to connect to their Wi-​Fi, but the Internet didn’t work at all. Another guy waiting at the shop confirmed that he had the same problem. And so I had to walk around and read magazines while waiting instead.

George is great! He will make suggestions and always has my best interest at heart.

While the people here are really nice and the price for basic services (oil change, tire rotation) is reasonable, every time I went I was told about multiple other things on my car that had to be replaced and all were super expensive. The one time I paid nearly $ 2,000 to fix something, I was called in the middle of the repair to learn that another multiple-​thousand-​dollar repair was «discovered.» This was not an old car, either, so it was astounding how much was constantly deemed to be wrong with it. I told them I’d skip it and now I just trust my boyfriend to fix my car (thanks repair manual textbooks!). I would be slightly wary of this business’ intentions.

Dealt with the manager, George, last month, when I brought my car in for a oil change and checkup to ready my car for a trip to Las Vegas. He’s like «I hope you aren’t planning on taking this car to Vegas.» LOL. As it turns out, my car was 22,000 miles PAST the recommended factory service guide of replacing the timing belt, at 60,000 miles (I had over 80,000 miles). I didn’t have much money and not only did he work a nice discount for me, they had the ability to carry a payment for 30 days so I could get the work done.
Very professional, friendly and good people here. And no, I’m not related to them in any way, shape or form. I will be using them again.

George is consistently trying to squeeze any extra dollars out of you that he possibly can. Every time I go I there I hear about how I need to change my timing belt, when I’m not slated for another 20k miles. I see he does this with other people too from other reviews. His prices are relatively high, and every time I went there he made it seem as if something else big needed work, which it never did. I leave this business for those two reasons. Quality of work always seemed high.

I went to Sun Devil Auto a couple of months ago with my previous vehicle. I had an idea that it was a problem with the spark plugs.
When I got a call back from them they said it was spark plugs but that I also needed the timing belt replaced due to milage and that it would cost $ 900. I asked what it would cost to get it fixed without the timing belt and he still said $ 900. Obviously the guy was pushing for an expensive timing belt replacement when all i needed was new spark plugs. I’ve dealt with lots of auto service centers in my time but this one was the shadiest by far. I wouldn’t consider this is miscommunication or misunderstanding, the guy was clearly trying to get me to okay an expensive auto repair that didn’t need to be done.
I ended up not getting any repairs done by this shop and had to pay $ 75 because they looked at it.
As for the 5 star review, of course it is going to be 5 star, her service was done for free and she wasn’t pressured into getting work done on her car that she didn’t need.

I went to Sun Devil Auto, Bethany Home Location because its prices seemed competitive. I went in to fix my brakes and my check engine light was on. I also had to to drive to California and wanted to make sure that my car would drive there and back without me being lost in the middle of the desert. My brakes were fixed but my check engine light turned back on 3 days later. I was then told not only did i have to pay to have my engine checked, okay I know that all most car repair business to charge, so I paid my $ 65.00. I was then told then I had to pay another $ 60.00 to have a special engine check because my car is so new, it is a 2005! To make a long story short, cut to me walking to 2 miles to my hotel in Long Beach because my car broke down at a parking meter! The end story they didnt seem to want to help me and after almost $ 700 dollars they didnt!
