Phoenix Metro North Super 8 Motel

I would rather sleep on the ground of the parking lot outside then in this hotel… Arrived after 7 nights of backpacking, so already had very few expectations given my previous 7 nights outdoors, in addition to the fact that I’m low maintenance. I have stayed at several «sketchy» places, but this place topped it off. The non-​smoking room reeked, but that wasn’t even the start. The sheets, comforter, and towels were stained. But WORST of all… there was blood splatter on the wall and backboard of the bed!!! TERRIFYING & REPULSIVE !!! Got my money back and bounced out of there as quickly as possible… on my way out noticed several «ladies of the night» residing in rooms, fire truck was pulling up to deal with an OD, several men approached me making dehumanizing comments… never ever go here, ever

Last minute booking just for a place to sleep tonight… Horrible customer service at the front desk. Clerk gave us smoking when we requested nonsmoking. I also blame Expedia for not providing an explanation of «Standard Room» or giving the customers an option for nonsmoking when booking on their app. Clerk would not let us get a nonsmoking room until we called Expedia rep to «request» for nonsmoking room. Ridiculous. After finally getting our «nonsmoking» room, I inspected the room and found cigarette burns, stained chair cushions and dried stains on the face towels. We had to turn on the AC and spray some Febreeze to get rid of some lingering smoke smell. Never again will we book with any hotel unless nonsmoking is explicitly specified nor will we ever stay at this particular Super 8 again. I’ve stayed at other Super 8 before and it wasn’t like this.

This isn’t even a one star hotel my option of 0 stars was not there the non-​smoking room reeked so bad of cigarettes and deodorant it was intolerable to sit in the room people sitting out in the parking lots of room doors open people living there they take a copy of your drivers license and an imprint of your credit card when we said we wanted our money back they did gladly return it but wanted to keep our drivers license on file we insisted that they shred it they finally did.

Super bad service. Horible experience never coming again! Front desk was charging outraigouse fees and changed price on me more than twice.

I would like to warn anyone considering staying at this motel, that they have bed bugs! I spent one night there, the next day I noticed several hive like bites on my skin. Throughout the evening the bites continued to swell. Concerned, I went to the ER. The doctor informed me that I had been bitten by BED BUGS and was having an allergic reaction. I wanted to let people know about this hotels infestation so that nobody else has that experience! I travel frequently and this was a first! If your looking to save a little $ there are plenty of hotels on the area comparable in price without bed bugs!

I agree with the previous post. You get what you pay for. Don’t come to any of these budget hotels expecting royalty.
Arrived at 3PM and the guy in the lobby was obviously overwhelmed with 3 people in line. Once I reached the counter I was happy to know that they had my reservation and room set aside but it still wasn’t ready. Check in time is 2PM. He told us to come back in 30min and sure enough my room was ready at that time.
*They are only allowed to issue two keys per room.
*They probably do have elevators but did not notice any
*Convenient parking in front of your room.
*Doors are pretty air tight /​hard to open & close.
*Best pillows ever to sleep on.
*Beds a little firm but slept well. I was just too tired and passed out.
*Stains on the door entry floor. I’ll let that one pass as it is a very high traffic zone.
*Building is right next to the highway but very quiet.
*Walls are not paper thin.
*Flat screen TVs with various inputs.
*AC worked very well. Maybe too good.
Only stayed here one night. Room was OK. I only needed a place to spend the night and was not looking for a whole lot. I would recommend the lobby agents to practice their customer service skills. Did not take advantage of the ‘free breakfast’ because I didn’t want to eat there anyways. I was in a new city so I went out and found a good spot. They do take your CC/​Debit for any incidentals. They do not charge it unless they find something missing/​damaged.
I would totally come here again if I just needed a place to stay the one night.

Just uncomfortable. I honestly didn’t want to touch anything in the room. Area seems shady. My pillow case had a burned hole in it. We asked for a non smoking room and obviously didn’t get one.

This hotel was the worst I have ever stayed in and felt very unsafe. Arrived around 11 PM on 1÷17÷15. There were several people hanging out outside in the parking lot and coming and going in and out of rooms. There was one room that had it’s door and window open playing loud music and it appeared the two resided there for long term. I reserved a room with 2 double beds No smoking. I checked in went to my room on the 2^nd floor only to find the key didn’t work. I back down to the check in and was issued another key. Entered the room and it smelled of smoke, like someone just finished smoking in there and it was only a king bed. The front door was broken off of the cabinet that held the fridge. I called down to the front desk from my cell phone (there was no phone in the room) and let them know of the smoke smell and bed situation. I said I was going to pack up my items and leave as I could not stay in this room. He called me back and said he had another room for me which was just renovated. We moved to the new room, there was new carpet and paint. That was the only good thing about this place. There were NO base boards, the lamp shades were broken and falling apart, the bed was AWFUL!!! I went to lock the door, near impossible as it wasn’t fitting in the door lock. Finally got it locked, all the while it’s near 12:30 and two door down the sketchy couple is still playing music loudly with doors and windows still open. I proceed to take a nice warm shower, enter the bathroom which is filthy. I turn on water to warm, it’s never gets warm stays freezing. The repair man comes in and says he has to go work on the water heater and doesn’t know how long it will be till we have warm water. Finally get to sleep around 1:30, woke several times to loud noises outside. Each time I would take a look out the window to check on my car only to see people hanging around in the parking lot. Wake in the AM to get a shower, have warm water, go to blow dry my hair — No hair dryer! Call the front desk and request one, this is approx. 7:30 AM, I am told I will have to wait till 9 AM. I would rather be dirty than stay one more min in this place. We go to our car and there is a guy sitting on the parking block in a parking space smoking a joint, the same resident that had the door wide open blaring music. All the while I have my children with me seeing all of this. I go to the front desk to complain about the stay and inconvenience of my stay and requested some compensation as this was not a restful night at all. basically was told by the manager Alex too bad, you signed for it and nothing was going to be done to rectify this situation. I would advise you rethink staying here unless you are ok with being in fear of what might happen to you or your belongings throughout your stay.

Yes, I’m thankful for having somewhere to sleep but this place is just disgusting. Room smells like a dog pissed all over the place and was told it was a «non-​smoking» room only to be hit in the face by a giant cloud of nicotine and filth. Floors stained like as if drinks were spilt or something/​someone pissed on it. Beddings have cigarette burns. Bathroom looks like it had never been cleaned, ever. Outside smells 10 times better than my room did.
Got into the motel late at night and was sleeping fine until some random woman starts screaming bloody murder in the middle of the night like someone was trying to kill her.
This place used to look safe from a distance but now that I’ve stayed here it looks shady as hell. I don’t recommend this place, I would rather just spend the extra money at a Sheraton.

This hotel sucks. If I could give it a 0 I would. The hotel was in a unique area of town. There were some weirdos near the hotel. I saw people just hanging around and stuff. I also saw a lady just posted up. She was looking at every care riding past. She was either trying to get some drugs or looking to turn a trick. The room also sucked and had a big sign that said MAKE SURE YOU LOCK YOUR DOORS. I was ready to get out of there. Thank god we left at 5 30 the next morning.

I gave this one star because Unilocal wouldn’t let me post my review without rating this hotel. My boyfriend and I recently drove cross country. We drove from Jacksonville, Fl to Los Angeles, CA. We picked 7 cities to stop in while driving. Phoenix was one of the cities we stopped in. This hotel was the worst hotel we stayed in. The area seemed very sketchy. When we checked in we saw signed saying that the area was patrolled by Phoenix Police. When we went to take our stuff to a room, we noticed some sketchy people hanging around. The door to where the ice machine was locked and we had to use our key to get in there. I am glad we only stayed one night here. If I ever come to Phoenix to visit I will not be staying here.

Please keep in mind that this is a cheap hotel! People always talk crap about cheap hotels and it pisses me off. Yes the hotel is not the best but you get what you pay for.
Anyhow, we arrived after midnight on a sold out weekend and were happy to see our reservation was held. The rooms were large and clean and that is all you can ask for from a place like this.
Easy access to the freeway was nice as well.

Very nice room. clean, and fresh. would stay here again.

This is not the nicest hotel I have ever been in by far, however, the room smelled good, it was clean, quiet, and the staff were nice and attentive, all for $ 29 per night, and free wifi and breakfast, with a fridge and microwave and BBQ, what more can you ask for. Also the shower had lots of water pressure. The hot tub was broken, but otherwise it was perfect.

Clean room, basic, no frills, nice pool & spa, friendly staff, no extra incidental deposit, hard to get to the 1^st time (enter from K-​Mart parking lot). I’d stay here again.

This review is for 06/​11/​2011. I haven’t been far from home in a long time and being in Phoenix got my mind jump started. Yes, I love Los Angeles, but with Phoenix or Arizona, in general, a lot of the stress was off of me. Time to get some rest at the Super 8 Metro North.
The location of Super 8 is on the west side of the 17 Freeway and on the intersection of Northern and Black Canyon Highway. It is located next to a K-​Mart and I forgot which other hotel/​motel. The entrance to the motel is a little complicated since its on a way one way street. There are staff members on-​call if you do arrive late which I was. You’ll have to use the night window since I guess its a safety issue or an area issue.
I checked in and the process was pretty fast since my reservation was already on file. Just gave my ID and Credit Card for any incidental charges. I was assigned Room #245 which was located on the corner upstairs, and overlooking the pool. I got to my room and it was a nice, decent room. I didn’t see much of any defects or major problems. It was home for just a day.
The first thing I did when I got to my room… GET SOME ICE. It was 80 degrees in the late night/​early morning. Geez… I knew then that it was going to be a very hot day. The hotel has a dedicated room for ice vending with soda and snack machines. There was supposed to be a lock on it for Members only, but, apparently, it was broken and anyone can walk in. This location also provides Free Wi-​Fi and I was able to write just one review from my room. A Unilocal Commitment!
I rarely used my room since I was in and out a lot. I took a shower when it did get hot, but the heat in Phoenix was different. 100+ temperatures was not even hot. If you go to Los Angeles, it is unbearable. I am starting to love Phoenix. The television is not bad, but I am not expecting to be having a flatscreen anyways. The basic toiletries (soap, shampoo, and etc.) are provided. Plus, they have a lot of towels. Its either from all the sweat you made or all the time you spent in water.
I had an amazing time in Phoenix and I hope to come back again. I have never felt so damn relaxed in a long time. I checked out late Sat/​early Sunday morning and I felt like I was already home. I have a bunch of other reviews to write about and you’ll have to connect the dots on my reviews. I am home and I am on the works to find my way back to Phoenix.
The Unilocal Universe. Where are you traveling today?

It’s not that expensive, and the rooms are decent. I like the bed, I like the pool/​hot tub, and I love the quality of the wi-​fi. This is where I go to get away from it all. It’s pretty impossible to find on a GPS, so no one can come bother me unless I want them to. It’s nestled in an awkward nook of the I-​17, and my first trip here was a frustrating experience because of it. Not their fault, though, so whatevs. At least reservations take no more than two minutes to make.
In any case, this area looks kind of shady. The outside looks a little run down, and I see huge 18-​wheelers parked everywhere. Those are for the Motel 6 next door. Suckers.
Long story short: This is a decent place. Time to snack on my free breakfast. =)

So on my recent visit to Phoenix, i stayed at this small Hotel/​Motel, i would have to say it is a Hotel, but other Super 8’s are labeled Motels, so who knows.
Anyhow, i booked a room here for a good price, where other hotels were more expensive, this one was okay. The staff is polite and the rooms are clean, maybe a bit out dated, but comfortable non the less.
The area is close to a K-​Mart, and it may not look like the right spot, but a Motel 6 is right next to it, i would say a old part of Phoenix.
I would not mind staying in this hotel/​motel again if i am in the area visiting since it has good rates and is in just off the 17 Highway and close to most things.
