We had an issue with a few minor things we couldn’t figure out with our pumps and messaged Rod, he responded quickly and came to check things out the very next day.

Rod was prompt, fair, courteous and really knows his craft. I had a jammed backwash valve. He explained that unjamming it could potentially break it if he wasn’t lucky or would just require a new set of gaskets if he was able to free it. Fortunately, he was able to loosen it, disassemble it and install the gaskets. I always had the impression that he was there to help repair the problem and to be of service. The price was more than fair. I couldn’t be happier with Island Life Pools and am really excited to find a quality, courteous pool repair service.

This is a great company to work with. Rod really has your interest in mind when he makes a recommendation. He also is there when you need him and that can be on short notice when your pool equipment isn’t working. Another pool company hired by our home warranty company put in the cheapest filter they could and it was not powerful enough for our pool pump. The filter split open for the second time and neither the other pool company nor our home warranty company would take responsibility. Rod rescued us by coming out the day after I called him even though it was Memorial Day weekend. He tried the least expensive method to fix the problem first but it didn’t do it and we had to put in a new filter. He gave us a reasonable price and got the work done quickly, before our pool turned green. We are very happy to be able to have someone honest and knowledgeable who can respond quickly.

We just bought a house and were selling some of the old stuff that was left behind. Lee (forgive me if I spelled his name wrong) showed up for an item for sale and I noticed he was a pool guy. Me being inexperienced with pools and already having someone scheduled to come take a look at it the next weekend I asked Lee if he would mind taking a look at the pool. It being a Saturday afternoon with a spur of the moment request, he said ‘yeah, no problem’. I offered to pay an inspection fee and he said he would look at it for no cost, what a deal!
The equipment seemed to check out fine and he ended up repairing my pool vac in about 1 minute with his own parts and I literally had to force money into his hand for his time and extra parts. He also gave me invaluable information on how to maintain my pool.
What a great reflection of the company this was to me. No doubt I will be calling them for any other pool related issues I have!

this started just 2 wks ago… i requested help with my pool pump that was leaking… within an hour i heard from rod and he came out to look at the problem… i already figured i needed a new pump but i was so impressed that he didn’t try to sell me the most expensive pump… he said the same type of pump would work just fine in my small fiberglass pool. by monday my pump was in and running great…
that friday i had my first scheduled pool cleaning with bill and i had mentioned i might need the sand changed in my filter since it hadn’t been changed in years… bill checked it out, made a call to comfirm with rod and gave me the best news that i didn’t need to change it…
i’m a widow on a small fixed income and i’m so happy that island life pools doesn’t try to sell me what i don’t need or the most expensive pool parts… i highly recommend island life pools for all you pool needs…

The best service around! Rod really is one of a kind, and very honest. I’ve had him out a few times for inspections & repairs, and Rod had always been fair, given me several options to save money. I will always call Rod for anything pool related. A+++

I found Rod on Unilocal.He was quick to respond when I reached out to him for a broken pump. He was able to come out the next day and fix the pump right then. I then reached out to him to look at another issue and he again came out the very next day. He’s been great to work with. Highly recommend him!

Left a message on Unilocal within hours I received a phone call. A few days later Rod showed up and gave me an estimate on my spool. He is thorough and gave me a very fair price on a filter and installation. I like that Island Life doesn’t try to nickel and dime you. Rod was always on time and very quick as well as efficient. You have a customer for as long as I have this spool. Also thank you for bringing my trash can up to the house! (now that’s service)

we had a home inspection completed this morning and our inspector had concerns with the pools salt system. At first we tried Poolman who you can only contact via the corporate office, you request a appointment that will be set up for the next few days by the local guy when they emailed him tomarrow for a show up fee of $ 90. We called Island Time and were able to setup a 8am appointment for tomorrow. luckily for us he finished a repair job early and met us at 330pm today. We are under a time crunch due to holidays and limited inspection time. Rod Zervakos fully inspected the pool pump system, cleaned it out, tested the pool, found the few issues our home inspector found, then was able to locate the issue with the salt system. Cell Blades were cracked and starting to expand apart. It still worked just not very well. With his help we found warranty information and are having it repaired. Rod spent over 90 minutes inspecting, educating us, and helping us to find a proper solution to all isues at 0 yes zero cost. You can tell that as the customer our questions, concerns, and our future pool was very important to him. Rarely can you find anyone willing to show up to help you solve all your issues for a hour and a half for nothing. His only compensation is he most definitely earned all our future business. We are also using him as our filter and pump repairman and after a very reasonable full cleaning, testing, and all chemicals needed included plan we will start a weekly service with them after our home closes.

On time, honest, efficient, courteous, and affordable!

I called three different companies before I finally fell upon Rod at Island Life Pools. Our system wasn’t running the way it was supposed to. It was weak and our pool was turning green.
I called one company, Pool Daddy’s and the person I spoke to on the phone quoted me $ 350 plus before he even had anybody come out to diagnose the problem.
All Valley Pools was a joke! Had my husband not been there the guy probably would’ve taken me for $ 75 just for a service call. He told us there was nothing wrong with our pool. It was an older man that could not even provide a service. He wasn’t even strong enough to check the system. Finally, after telling him about a dozen times that our pool was not properly working, he realized we weren’t going to pay him when he did NOTHING! I hate to think of all the people that company is taking advantage of.
The third company my friend referred me to when she realized that they didn’t fix her pool either.
Rod came out and diagnosed the problem. Amazing honest people that will do the work right!!! It is very hard to find a good pool company and this is it!!! Other companies will try to take advantage of you if you don’t know what you’re talking about.

I contacted numerous places for estimates, as our pool had a green tint to it from algae. I also knew we needed our filter washed. Let me just say there are a LOT of fly-​by-​night pool people in Phoenix. In addition, there are some large companies that tell you things to try to sell high-​priced items you may or may not need. When I contacted Rod, he spent 10 minutes answering questions. He was completely honest and upfront, and he didn’t even have me as a customer. He did not badmouth any other business. (I did.) As a result, I hired him for our pool needs and have never been happier with a business. Our pool looks normal again, and we did not have to purchase a new pump or new grids.
Let’s face it. We are all busy. I appreciate that Rod doesn’t play games. He is honest. No B.S. He tells you what is going on with your pool and what he is doing to fix it. He does not try to talk you into spending extra money on pool supplies or an add-​on service you do not need.
I would highly recommend this company.

So… sheesh…why is a pool service company so difficult to find?
Started off @ $ 75 or 85 per month to clean a new construction home’s pool. Pool has in floor cleaning and a salt system — AKA pretty much maintenance free; über money maker for a pool guy. Yeah… it’s pretty easy to empty to skimmer baskets, check salt, brush walls and leave.
I really do not expect the tech to spend more than 10 minutes at the pool, nor should you. (Are you caught off guard? Pool company nets $ ⁷⁵⁄₈₅ for 40 minutes of work? Offended?) Oh, within 5 days, the price went to $ 99 with no written explanation.
So I text the owner my concern — I pay for weekly full chemical and cleaning service and ask why does the tech not empty the basket @ the pump? What are the results of the chemical test? Receive this response (will add as pic if allowed):

«I’m not sure what you mean. Exactly what results are you looking for? Are you asking for the tech to just leave the test strip behind after he services the pool? Have no idea why the tech does not empty the basket at the pump, have no idea who I am speaking with therefore I have no way of knowing who your tech is.»
I thought, for sure, the owner (Rod) would say something along the lines of «sorry my tech did not …»
Man, pool care seems to be a tough service for the customer. I wish we could all earn $ 25 per 10 minutes like this pool company.

My pool pump wasn’t working efficiently… I contacted my home warranty (Old Republic) and they sent me someone that had really bad review on Unilocal… so I canceled it and then searched on Unilocal… and found this guy. He came down on the same day and gave me free advice… and cleared up some debris in the pump… and guess what? My pump is working PERFECTLY now! He charged me NOTHING for that advice! Thanks Unilocal and this guy knows a lot more than my «usual» pool guy from Leslie… :)

I had a breakage problem with my p/​c pipes and in floor cleaning system. I tried reaching my pool company of 10 years but they said it would be 4 – 5 days before they could assist me. At the recommendation of a friend, I tried Island Life Pools and Spas. The company looked at the problem that day and the very next day fixed the pipes and the pool runs great. I highly recommend Island Life for their fast service, quick repair, and fantastic pricing! After this amazing experience with the repair, I am going to use them for maintenance in the future.

They don’t really do Chandler or I assume the East Valley. Called them about servicing the filter and media replacement. In addition I agreed to the $ 99/​month rate to maintain my pool. Then he said it…
«I have a Sub Contractor I use in your area» — Needless to say, the «Sub» never bothered to call. These guys might be great if you get them, but if you’re in the East Valley, save yourself the time and call someone else, because you are not getting these guys even though they claim to support the area.

I was told I was unduly harsh as it was the sub-​contractor not Island Pool that never followed up with me. So let me be clear, the review is because they advertise that they service the Chandler area, I was not referred to a different provider, I was told they worked together. You can make your own judgment call.

I’ll start off by saying I’ve never actually hired them to do service. I had an issue with my pool not recirculating the water appropriately and gave him a call on a Sunday (today). He could make it in a couple days but asked I send him pictures of my equipment to see if he could help via phone. Within an hour we had the thing up and running at no cost. Very prompt service. Just for the phone help on a Sunday alone I’ll be using their service in the future with any upgrades or repairs needed.
Absolutely recommend.

Fantastic! Great! Amazing! We found Rod using Unilocal,and boy am I glad we did! We are new home owners and didn’t have any idea where to start with our pool. Rod makes our pool and hot tub what they should be– clean, balanced and relaxing!
He’s speedy, quite, and tolerates our yappy mutt. I highly recommend him and his company for all your pool service needs.
