History

Established in 1993.

Fat Freddy’s Catering started out catering parties for friends and family and for one particular resort that had a close connection to the owners. The word started to spread, back then «Word of Mouth» was the best form of advertising you could get. Today, we are «Yelping» and «Tweeting» and «Liking» and «Linking» but it’s still ultimately good old fashioned «Word of Mouth» advertising. We started to build our corporate client list thanks to Freddy’s extensive knowledge of food. We have always had such a wide variety of cuisine options available that you should only have to make one call even if you’re feeding the same group of people for several days in a row. We can handle breakfast, lunch, dinner, hors d’oeuvres or just some snacks. We pride ourselves on two things and these two things can either make or break your event… Quality and Quantity. We will always use the best quality products to prepare the food we make for our customers and there will always be a lot of it.

It all began with a Father (Freddy) who loves to cook and a son (Eric) who loves to throw parties. For years they had talked about opening up their own catering business, but in 1993 everything fell into place. Freddy had just sold his latest business, a Caribbean Restaurant in Scottsdale called Banana Bay. His son Eric was working at a 5-​star resort as a Catering Sales Manager and he was always getting requests from people who wanted to cater events in their homes or at other venues that did not have kitchen facilities. This is all the inspiration and motivation that they needed to get started. The resort, in fact, actually hired Fat Freddy’s to cater these events and was what gave them a jump start into the business. For years Fat Freddy’s operated out of a small office suite that they converted into a commercial kitchen. But in 2006, after 13 successful years in business, Fat Freddy’s expanded and built a 6,000 square foot custom kitchen designed just for off-​premise catering
