Dignity Health Urgent Care

Staff is friendly and knowledgeable enough but there is absolutely 100% total lack of «urgency» in anything they do.

I visited the DH urgent care facility after a few days of having a strange feeling in my chest. I was admitted quickly and seen by a nurse and a doctor. They administered multiple tests including an EKG and blood work. After a short while, the doctor came in and told me that I was experiencing premature ventricular contractions, or PVCs. From his explanation it was quite serious and I needed to be admitted to a hospital immediately. Unfortunately, the only hospital with an available bed, or so I was told, was at the Laveen DH facility. I had never heard of this facility and I was cautious about being transported there. I was assured that I would be monitored there over night and seen by a physician and cardiologist, so off I went. Come to find out after I was admitted to the Laveen «Hospital» that not only was there not a cardiologist on duty, there was NO doctor on duty. The nurse on duty called the doctor on call for instructions on my treatment. They gave me the standard treatment and drugs for a heart attack even though I didn’t have one. I was admitted at 10pm on a Friday evening and a doctor was not on duty until noon the next day. When the doctor finally showed up, he looked at my chart and discharged me immediately. I subsequently followed up with cardiologist and was told that PVCs happen all the time and they are nothing to worry about. I understand that doctors can be overly cautious at times, but there just wasn’t a need to send me to a hospital without staff that could evaluate and treat me properly. I am very disappointed in Dignity Health.

You need to use the call ahead check in option if you go here. That way you can wait at home until they can see you. They do not have enough physicians on staff to see walk ins in a reasonable time.
The staff is nice though. They just need way more doctors available for busy times

HORRIBLE!!! I’VE BEEN HERE SINCE 1:20 AM AND HAVEN’T EVEN BEEN CALLED FOR TRIAGE AND I’M THE ONLY ONE IN THE WAITING ROOM AT THIS POINT. I WENT TO THE FRONT DESK TO GET SOME INFO, THE GENTELMAN CALLS TO THE BACK THEN TELLS ME THE NURSE WILL FIND MY CHART AND CALL ME BACK AS SOON AS POSSIBLE… FIND!!! Clearly I’m here because I’m in pain and I do understand first come first served but to completely miss a chart and leave a patient waiting longer than needed is absolutely crazy! Even when I get called back and the nurses and doctors are as nice as they can be, it still will not change the fact that my chart was forgotten, had I not went to the front to check, I would still be sitting in that waiting room in excruciating pain. If I could give no stars I would. Sad because this is the first negative review I’ve written smh.

Each time I come here I receive exceptional service from both front and back office staff, but particularly from front office MA Clayton.

The stuff are friendly but very slow… It took me an hour and half for the doctor to come to the room, and another 20 mins for the stuff to let me go… Idk about you but i have a child and i can not be spending 2 hours in the urgent care… It should be urgent. Not take your time…

I have been to this facility multiple times. They are almost always busy. They have online check-​in which speeds things up. Always good care. I have been in health care for years. Remember, this is a walk-​in clinic, they don’t know how busy they are going to be. As for the complaints about being billed as an ER, that is something YOUR insurance company decides, not the facility. Most people check with their insurance BEFORE they go in, that way you know about billing. When I go and wait 4 hours, it is still better than waiting a week to get in to my PCP.

Awful wait times, their triage/​acuity process is a joke and everyone moves like a sloth. We were treated with anything but respect and dignity. Waiting 4+ hours to be seen, when others came and went for the same exact thing (ankle sprain) is ridiculous.

Second visit was last night. I used online check in but still waited a bit. It wasn’t so bad. Have you been to Chandler Regional? There were some sick kiddos that were more urgent, way it goes. I was still before people w similar issues. Once in it was fast and Dr really listened about my injury. Last visit was January and that Dr was even better. Had that awful fly! They care for an urgent care. Hate seeing such poor experiences…

I take my kids here only if necessary and not for anything internal. They diagnosed my daughter with valley fever but she really had a life threatening illness. At the er the Dr told us her symptoms were textbook for her diagnosis and he wanted to know where I took her before. They have misdiagnosed multiple times leading to wasted fees only having to go to er or dr for correct dx and meds.

I give you three stars.
I lacerated my hand on Saturday– called ahead– they said it would be quicker to be seen if I came in now. Perfect. I waited an hour to be triaged by the RN. Super friendly,
I liked him. Told me I would only wait a little bit longer to get my stitches.
An hour and half later– the doctor brought me back, looked at my laceration and told me she didn’t feel comfortable because my tendon was partially lacerated and I needed to go to the Er. Awesome. After waiting three hours?
I understand she didn’t want to touch my wound and wanted someone with more knowledge to take care of me. But, I was super frustrated I had to wait 2.5 hours to be told that. And another 30 min for the RN to come back to the room and bandage me up and give me the transfer packet. Total time — 3 hours.
I ended up going to the ER… I was only there an hour and 15. Should have just went there first. :(
You earned the three stars for your professionalism and for how nice you were. I understand you can’t always help how busy you are but I thought an open wound would take precedent to other patients.

I have given this facility THREE tries.
First time was a 3 hour wait. It was busy, so understandable that it could be that long. But I couldn’t help but feel there was an extreme lack of urgency. Staff was ok. Not bad, not great.
Second time, I went in first thing in the morning in hopes of having a shorter wait. NOPE! 4 freaking hours of waiting till I saw a doctor. They even took me to the back after the 3^rd hour, and proceeded to make me wait an additional hour. While they were apologetic, it doesn’t excuse the experience.
My third and final visit is simply, my last. I tried their call ahead service so I could «wait in the comfort of my own home». Ok, so I called in, they said they could see me in 3 hours. I was ok with that since I could relax in bed, and get some well deserved rest. Arrived at the facility and from the time I walked in, to the time I walked out, it was ANOTHER 2 HOURS! What in the hell is going on at this place? It’s not some run down, pop up urgent care. This is DIGNITY HEALTH, this is supposed to be, along with Banner, some of the best places to be treated in the valley. I digress.
One tip for this place… Set better expectations with your patients. If you know it’s going to be a long wait, prepare them for the worst, or recommend another solution. Especially when I comes to urgent care, once I have invested 2 hours, I’m not leaving, but it doesn’t mean I’m a happy customer to wait another two hours. Now, if you tell me up front that you are averaging 3−4hrs, I can properly prepare myself for what is about to happen.

Horrible, horrible place. Wait wait wait and no communication they just keep signing more people up and you have to wait in the small waiting room contracting whatever from all the other sick people. Just dont bother going trust me.

Only because It would not let me give 0 stars!!! So frustrated. I went in July for a UTI, received a bill in December for $ 700 — for a 5 minute visit, no labs and a prescription! Then they told me if I was a cash payment they would have charged me less but because I have insurance they can charge me at the higher rate. Ridiculous!!!

Waiting. Waiting. Waiting.
Sigh.
Should have gone to Chandler Regional Hospital.

Good docs who are not just there to throw pills at you if you don’t need them.

A few days before Christmas I got a cold (pretty typical for me), sore throat, cough, the works basically. Like normal it started going away after a little while though so I didn’t worry about it. The weird thing though was that the cough never went away. Then a couple days ago it started getting worse! I decided I should probably get it checked out to make sure it wasn’t something serious.
Dignity Health was near my work and able to get me in right away so I stopped in to see them. The girl at the front was friendly and got me signed in quickly. After a few minutes another nice lady came to take me into the back and get all my information. Once that was finished she took me to a waiting room for the actual doctor. He was also friendly when he arrived and asked lots of questions and checked out my lungs to figure out what was going on. Apparently I had Bronchitis so he gave me a prescription for some antibiotics to help take care of it.
Everyone I dealt with was friendly, knowledgeable and I was in and out within a reasonable amount of time. As much as you don’t WANT to need to go to an urgent care center, if I have to again in the future I would make sure to come here.

Conveniently close to Chandler and Ahwatukee. Been here four times in the last 10 or so years; everything from being mauled by a dog to bronchitis.
Was here seven months ago for a serious pain episode stemming from a «back injury» –HAHAHAHAHA, uh, that actually turned out to be a dead 10lb kidney beating up my spine.
Jerri (??) the PA was fantastic. Knew pretty much all she could do was write some scrips for prescription smack (if you say yay fun drugs I will clock you — there’s nothing fun about hallucinations) and tell me to hit the ice. Jerri has better bedside manner than most doctors and nurses combined.
Never have used the call ahead feature.
Also, check your insurance about billing before you go here. My co-​pay was a little more than $ 40, but been hearing from Unilocalers and friends that they bill as a hospital.
It’s basically what I’d expect from an Urgent Care facility. I realize we’re all entitled to our opinions, but come on, Unilocalers! Do y’all seriously expect the proverbial «red carpet» to be rolled out? It’s just like going to an Emergency Room.

We have been to this Urgent Care about ten times in the last two years. We generally go on a weekend when our primary care office is closed.
We have always liked the call-​ahead feature, but in the last two months it has become more than an annoyance. The process is supposed to work like this:
1.) Call ahead and let them know your illness. Tell them how far away you are from them so they can call you when they are that many minutes away from seeing you. Wait in the comfort of your own home until you get the call back.
2.) They call you and you drive directly to them and check in (including getting your insurance info and copay. coinsurance).
3.) You see a nurse who takes your vitals and asks you to describe symptoms.
4.) You see the doctor and he gives you any prescriptions.
5.) You go pick up your prescription and go home.
How it has been working:
1.) Call ahead.
2.) They call you and you drive directly to them.
3.) Wait hours to be checked in by an uncheerful employee and then see the nurse.
4.) Wait an hour or so to be seen by the doctor.
5.) Wait a half hour to get your prescription.
6.) You get your prescription and drive to the pharmacy. It is wrong. You have to call them to get a new one reissued and drive back to pick it up.
7.) You curse the Urgent Care and vow to only get sick or injured during the week.
All that, and the care you receive used to be a 4 or a 5 and is now a 3.
And, to top it all off… they are now considered part of the Chandler Regional Medical Center so they bill you AS A HOSPITAL even though NO ONE BOTHERED TO TELL YOU THIS AT THE CHECK IN.
So, instead of just paying your copay (mine has been between $ 20 and $ 35 in the past two years), you PAY A FACILITIES FEE on top of your visit and you are charged coinsurance.
That meant a difference of several hundred dollars for our family when two people got sick in the same weekend. One bill was nearly $ 500 and the other was nearly $ 300.
When your policies change and you start billing as a hospital instead of an urgent care, you should PUT A SIGN IN YOUR LOBBY and INSTRUCT YOUR EMPLOYEES TO NOTIFY PATIENTS (who I will refer to as customers from now on because we are clearly all just dollar signs to your organization).
We will never return to this location of our own free will. If there’s an emergency, we might as well just hit the hospital. We are being charged for it anyhow… and at least they smile when they rake you over the coals.
