It’s no secret that my girlfriend loves ice cream. She even has an entire list dedicated to this most delicious dessert. But I think I have discovered one that is better than any of the 11 she currently has one her Hall of Fame. Last week while out with my friends wife grocery shopping, she has a hankering for ice cream. She cannot live without it and would tell you that eating ice cream is just as important as breathing air. So before we leave the store, she takes her cart and makes a bee-line for the ice cream case and pushes her way down the narrow Whole Foods aisles. Her kids could hardly keep up and I was left in the dust. After a bit I finally catch up to her and there she was, staring into the freezer case like a deer looking into headlights. She could barely utter a word and all she did was point. I knew what I had to do and started holding up fingers. 1 pint? She nods no. 2 pints? again she nods no. 3 pints? she shakes me off and takes my hand and has me hold out 4 fingers and my thumb. Yes, the magic number was FIVE. Five pints of ice cream? Really? I thought to myself and then realized that I am standing next to the second biggest ice cream fiend on the face of the planet. Yes, second biggest and we all know who number one is. The bottom line, sorry San Francisco I know you like to think that Bi Rite, Mitchell’s or Humphrey Slocombe is the best ice cream around. But Shannon Dufresne has mastered the craft of ice cream making. This stuff is not only good, it’s CRACK good. Rich, flavor, silky, creamy and sinful makes for a lascivious combination making this ice cream close to perfection. If you are wanting a little help on which flavor to pick up, you cannot go wring by choosing the Salted Caramel with Roasted Almonds. I know what you’re thinking. Ice cream with nuts? The nuts always get soggy and soft and never work. I am here to tell you that you are greatly mistaken. The nuts in her ice cream stay crunchy and play an important role in making you have a happy ice cream face.
