Conservatory of Dance is a local dance studio that has been serving students in the Phoenix area since 2006. Owned and operated by Bill and Leah Hotaling, our studio offers a supportive atmosphere for all dancers and emphasizes technique, training, performance opportunities, and team competitions. We currently offer classes in ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, lyrical, musical theatre, contemporary, technique, and acro for ages 3 – 18. Business Owner

Bill and Leah Hotaling took over Conservatory of Dance after successful dance careers in New York City. Bill taught for 9 years at Broadway Dance Center and 5 years at Steps on Broadway while Leah was a Radio City Rockette for 5 years.

Both have danced in a variety of shows, music videos, industrials and Broadway productions. Together they have taught at over 200 dance studios across the United States and Canada.

Conservatory of Dance is a family studio. We offer dancers of all levels a safe and supportive environment to enjoy the art of dance. Whether students are looking to dance for recreation or to be apart of a performing company, Conservatory of Dance is their doorway to the world of dance.

I recently moved up to this area and was looking for a good dance school to send my daughter to. She had been taking tap/​ballet and I found the perfect class exactly in the time frame I was needing it to be in and the price was comparable to what we were paying before. Also, there was a special «princess dance camp» during the summer that seemed like fun. The first day of her new ballet/​tap class, my daughter came out to ask me if she could stay for the jazz class which was directly after her current class. We have been there for the past couple of months and she is still having a blast. I am so glad I found this place on Unilocal and I would recommend it to any and all parents looking for a good dance school for their kids.

Love this studio! I have two girls dancing in Company for a number of years. The lobby is very welcoming and when time permits, I love sitting there watching my girls dance on the TV screens as well as getting to know the other moms/​dads. There is no ‘Dance Mom’ feel, no crazy drama or competitiveness. Everyone is so kind and friendly. My daughters love the staff. Aside from being excellent choreographers and teachers, they are also very nurturing and the girls know they can go to them for anything, dance-​related or not. This studio is not about winning. It’s about dancing in a positive happy environment, while making amazing friends.

My daughter started with CoD over 4 years ago. She initially took a dance camp during the summer and loved it so much that we put her in a ballet class. From there she decided that she wanted to try out for company. She’s been part of company for the past 3 years.
The teachers and owners are amazingly talented people who put love into everything they do.
If you are looking for a «Dance Mom» school where people are yelling or putting the kids down then you’ll need to go someplace else. If you want a fun loving environment where the parents get along and help each other out and the kids are friends and get along, then CoD is the dance school for your family!

My daughter has been dancing at COFD for 2 years (non-​company) and we have been very happy with the staff and facility. The kids always appear to be having fun learning the different dance steps from the teachers. Recital time is always a very exciting time for the kids and I think COFD does a nice job of keeping everything organized and a bit less stressful for the parents. One of the biggest draws is the studio itself. I love the facility as they have TV screens in the lobby for parents to watch the kids without having to be huddled around a window or door. We tried a different dance studio before finding COFD and actually ended up leaving b/​c of there was no room for parents to sit or watch the kids. Although this waiting area can get crowded, it is still a nice option to have the TV’s for viewing.

My daughters have been dancing there for the past few years and loved it!
This studio has a great balance between teaching the techniques of dancing and having fun. All the teachers, including the owners, are wonderful. They have everything from Hip Hop to Ballet to Tumbling, for ages three through High School. Their yearly performances are at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts and are always great. The performances are not mandatory and one of my daughters will choose to do maybe two out of the four classes she takes. All in all this is a really great studio.

Oh how many good times I used to have at Conservatory of Dance!
For about six years of my life I danced at this studio taking everything from ballet, tap, and jazz. I attended dance lessons once or twice a week for about an hour from third grade to ninth grade when I stopped. Once a year we would put on a huge recital which is definitely the high light of taking the classes. Because I was there so many years ago I can’t vouch for who or how the current owners are, but I had an awesome experience when I was dancing there. The teachers were always professional and cutting edge, and the classes were always fun and functional. If you are looking for a place to take a class or have children who are interested I would check Conservatory of Dance out! It’s professional, affordable, and fun.
