History

Established in 1996.

In 1994, Brian Boubek decided to study abroad in France. After having a less-than-satisfactory customer service experience (an and amazing year abroad in France), he came home, graduate from college, and founded his own study abroad company — and CEA was born.

In 1996, we sent a single student to our first study abroad program in Dijon, France. Fast-forward to 2014 — 3,500+ students travel abroad to 21 cities across 12 countries.

In the years in-between, we’ve been quite busy. From our humble beginnings in 1996 to today, CEA has:

* Increased our offerings to 272 unique courses across 47 subject areas;

* Expanded our staff to 165 (85 abroad, 80 in our Phoenix, U.S. headquarters);

* Opened eight Study Abroad Centers in six countries;

* Developed partnerships with 36 international universities;

* Increased our faculty to 100+;

* Surpassed 40,000 student alumni; and

* Become a driving force in the international education field.

Pretty impressive, if we do say so ourselves!
