Great Korean Chinese food. Try there jang pong or ja ja myun or even both. Portions are huge and satisfying. The price is reasonable and to the affordable side. Sunday’s lunch does get pretty full and busy so you might want avoid the Korean church rush.

YUMMY! The Jambong combo on the weekdays during lunch is a STEAL! You get jajiangmen, jambong, and kkangpoongi for around $ 21. Tons of delicious food. The jambong is Nongshim times 100. Ramen noodles, spicy broth, delicious seafood. The jajiangmen is one of the best I have tasted in this area. And the kkangpoongi is delicious. The flavors are very strong(garlic and onions), so if you’re not a fan of really strong, in your face, flavors, you may not like the chicken dish. Can’t wait to go back and try other dishes. *The waitresses speak very little English. Try to go with a Korean, if you can!

3.5 stars. My husband and I were originally heading to Myung-ga, which is a restaurant right next door. But seeing how bustling Yong Hwa Roo was, we spontaneously decided to give this place a try. I ordered Gan Ja Jang, which has a less soupy, freshly stir fried sauce compared to a regular Ja Jang Myun. My husband ordered Samsun Jjambbong, which is Jjabbong with extra seafood. The food took about 25 minutes to come out, which is a bit long of a wait considering it’s a Korean restaurant(even more so because it’s a Korean-Chinese cuisine-they are known for their quick cooking process). My Gan Ja Jang was pretty good, but the noodle had a slight doughy taste, almost like it was undercooked. The Jjambbong was honestly mediocre. The broth was definitely under-seasoned, and was overall bland when eaten with the noodles. Now about the service, we had to share a table with two strangers because Yong Hwa Roo did not have an open table when we walked in, which we were perfectly fine with. They promised us that they will seat us separately as soon as a table opens up; turns out, a table opened up, but they forgot to relocate us. The two strangers my husband and I shared the table with, finished their meal early and left while we were finishing up the meal. The waitress came-and I guess she meant to clean up the table– and left her rag right on our table and walked away. May be I’m overreacting, but that’s gross. Mediocre service that lacks some common sense and mediocre food.

Ordered Take Out. I wanted the half Jajangmyun half Jambong combo, but it was the weekend so they didn’t have it. That combo is only served during the week. Oh well. Got one of each and they were both packed separately; each bag with its own side dishes! Noodles separately packed from the sauce and soup. Ate one and was full. Ate the other a few hours later and I was pleasantly surprised that it kept well! I heated it up of course. Definitely getting take out here again.

I tried Ja Jang myun and Tangsooyuk. It was so good! It’s very personal but i think they do better than other korean-chinese restaurant in NY-NJ koreatown.

My first time here and my friend and I split the jjajamyun and jjambong. I thought both were really good. and the table split the kang poong gi which i thought was delicious!

Service is whatever. Food is decent. Prices are a bit high. They do have this one AMAZING spicy noodle broth. Don’t remember what it was called, but the broth is clear, but spicy, probably because of the jalapenos they use for the broth, but it was delish. I say, a come once every 3 – 6 months type of place

Great taste in your mouth but not so great in your belly. Left a nice gift in the toilet after eating the sinfully greased-up food here. I decided to give this place three stars instead of four because though the food is good, the service is lacking. Actually, the service is pretty bad. Two waitresses served our table yesterday and one of them was nice but the other looked she she hated her life. I mean lady, I get it that you are tired and that you might be having a bad day, but that’s no reason to scowl at your customers and look at them like you want to shove the menus up their buttholes, jeezus. Also, I ordered SHRIMP fried rice but what came out instead was chicken fried rice. I guess they were out of shrimp. My question is, why didn’t they inform me? They didn’t even bother to let me know that they had no shrimp and unilaterally decided that I would be okay with getting chicken. I guess the owner or whoever runs this joint doesn’t really give a crap what the customer that’s PAYING wants. I didn’t send the dish back mostly because I didn’t want to wait another 20 minutes for the correct dish to be brought out. All in all, if you want reasonably-priced Korean food that will fill you up, this is a good place. Just don’t expect stellar service.

Great Korean style Chinese food. We come here whenever we are in town for biz meetings. Love the Zang Jiang noodle and Liang Zhang Pi, a must try if you never have them before. Please see pictures if you want to know what it is. Service is good and place can be packed around lunch time.

OK, so take this for what it is. I’m a German/Polish white girl who is just getting into the amazingness that is Korean food. I’ve had the pleasure of trying a bunch of different things from the local Korean grocery stores, and when my friends saw I was branching out into some new dishes, they immediately recommended Yong Hwa Roo. We started with the tangsuyook — which was wonderful! I love the sweetness against the texture of the pork. Everything was fresh fresh fresh and the portions were huge. We shared this as a table of 4. We then ordered the jajangmyun, which I hear is better in two separate bowls that you mix yourself. So, naturally, that’s what we did. What an incredible flavor. A black soybean paste cooked down to perfection with onions, cabbage and pork over noodles. I’m sure I’m missing a few ingredients, but I have to say, it was very memorable. The portions were so generous that we brought it home for another complete meal. I have to say, I thought about that take out box until we could reheat it again — which was just as good the second time around! Don’t be afraid to try Yong Hwa Roo if you’re just getting into Korean food — the flavors are outstanding, the people were very friendly and it was a great way to enjoy the evening. We will definitely be going back!

Food is alright. I only go here because it’s the closest one around. The waitress ladies are kinda rude… and they treat carryout customers like crap. … One time my dad was waiting for our carryout inside the store for extra 30 minutes(they always say only 15 minutes over the phone) and they were really busy. One of the bitchy ladies asked him in annoyance, what AREYOU waiting on? And when my dad finally exploded, they got scared and quickly brought out the food. Whenever we order, we always go in after a long period of time and still they are never ready. And it’s not like their food is AMAZING.

It’s not bad, but it’s not worth traveling from afar just for some jjajangmyun. The jjambbong is a little better, but the jjajangmyun wasn’t quite to my liking. I did like their tangsuyook though. It’s not bad to fill a jjajangmyun craving if you’re in the area, but it’s not somewhere I think I’ll be dying to go back to.

Stopped here because of Unilocal ratings. So glad I did! Great food, all Korean eating — that’s a good thing. The food was fantastic. Quick efficient service too. Menu is in English and Korean. Some dishes are very spicy, just ask the server. Inexpensive, $ 20⁄2.

Good solid Korean Chinese food joint. Always packed with Koreans :) always a good sign. Never had anything else other than jajang myun bc that’s all I ever want. Simple, cheap, and fast. How a place should be.

Hard to beat this as far as authenticity goes. We travelled a bloody long way to end up here one December night, and thank god the food was bloody amazing! Why’s Korean town or community always in the middle of nowhere as opposed to say Chinatown, which is always at the centre of everything? Anyhow, we tried their tang soo yook, or sweet and sour pork, and jajangmyun, and both were just as they should be. Recommended!

I’m so conflicted about Yong Hwa Roo. It’s the place that pops into my head whenever anyone is in the mood for jjajjangmyun, but the service leaves some to be desired, especially if you’re not completely Korean or familiar with the staff there. I asked for a fork instead of chopsticks(I can use chopsticks but my fingers were getting tired and cramped from the heavy noodles), and the servers obliged, but they also laughed at me. I guess it is amusing that a Korean person would prefer a fork to chopsticks, but come on. I don’t want to be laughed at for my choice in eating utensil. The service is also pretty hard to get a hold of, but I guess that’s just Korean restaurant culture? I also feel like they pick and choose who they’d rather serve more quickly and stuff, but maybe that’s just me being extra sensitive. The food here great — I love their gan jjajjang and jjampong. I normally get either of those with tang sooyuk, dumplings, or kkangpoongi. And their boricha is great. They also have an awesome lunch special that I wish I could take advantage of more often. Their portions are giant — I never leave here without being absolutely stuffed and bloated. So you’ll definitely get full. TLDR: The food is great, and the service isn’t horrible, so come whenever you’re craving jjajjangmyun.

This is my moms favorite jajangmyun place. I went here with my boyfriend for lunch and the service was great and the food was great as well? The price was great. We got jajangmyun, jam bong, and Kkan poong gi for less than 20 bucks. I would definitely go there again.

Hands down best Korean-Chinese food in the area. The jja jang myun here is SO good– even compared to L.A. and N.Y. eats– the sauce is perfect. The jjambong is great, tangsooyook is great, udon is great…(you get the picture?) I’ve never had a disappointing meal here and the affordable prices on top of all that? FIVESTARS.

This is my go-to for Korean-Chinese fare. This place is a bit cleaner, newer than Tae Hwa Kwan, and in my opinion, tastes«healthier» in a good way. I think that all their dishes are delicious, not only the Jja jang myun and Jjambong. The Tangsuyook here is super crispy in a light, sweet sauce! They have this dish called«Bool Jja Jang», literally«fire jja jang» and it’s crazy spicy. Like, tears-and-sweat-dripping-in-your-dish spicy. It’s delish, though!
