Description

Specialties

Located in Philadelphia’s Society Hill, The Twisted Tail is a Southern-inspired Bourbon House & Juke Joint, presenting an eclectic mix of American Whiskey and gastronomic offerings from our Charcoal Grill.

History

Established in 2011.

We are a family owned and run restaurant and bar. Our concept came from extensive travels to the Southern States, especially Tennessee, Mississippi and Texas, where the social dynamic of restaurants and bars struck a cord andwas something that was missing in Philly. We strive to create a place where everybody feels at home and comfortable and can enjoy a formal high-end meal in our dining room, or kick back with a bourbon and listen to some blues in our Juke Joint, or, preferably one then the other.

It was the love of the blues and bourbon that was teh driving force behind the concept. We wanted to create a place that we would want to hang out and be with friends in. A selfish endevour, you might say — well we’re lucky that many other people enjoy the same things.

We welcome you all into The Twisted Tail family.

Meet the Business Owner

George R.

Business Owner

George began his hospitality career at the age of 18 behind the local pubs in England, before moving out to The States in 2000. He remained in the industry whilst also pursuing a career in theatre and was fortunate enough to act in plays and musicals between Philly and NYC as well as touring the country for several months. It was on this tour that he was able to see a large part of the South and get a taste of Southern culture and hospitality, as well as get a true taste of Southern style food from the ramshackle backwoods huts, to smokey BBQ joints, to high-end Texan steakhouses. From there, an idea was formed.

Upon arrival back in Philly, George continued to pursue his love of acting and met his wife, Laura, on stage at, what would end up being, his last performance.

After that he concentrated on the restaurant business once again and the opening of his emerging concept, The Twisted Tail.
