Ok I’m new to the area, when I seen ROSEs and the yellow truck and lemon logo. I freaked. I grew up in feltonville and back in the day ROSEs was the best! Before alllllll the Rita chain crap. Back in the day they would cruise in a fleet of cushman carts with water ice and fresh pretzels Ding ding ding… Would stop any little league game. Nothing like dipping your pretzels in a chocolate water ice Will be my new go to now I’m in the area

Gotta love Rose’s! The water ice is always on point and it never hurts to throw some delicious ice cream in there too! Don’t forget a soft pretzel either! If you’re an early riser check out a breakfast sandwich. My fav is bacon, egg, and cheese on a kaiser but they all are pretty amazing! You can even call ahead:). You’re always greeted with a smile and never disappointed!

This place was closed at 830pm. Their hours are supposed to be until 9pm. Not a very good first impression or experience.

Made me remember what real Italian ice is supposed to taste like! Never want to go back to Rita’s again. Great stuff.

Hands down my favorite breakfast sandwich EVER! Love the old school mom and pop feel of this place. We call ahead almost every time we order for fast pick-up and the price is right. Try the pepper, egg, and cheese on a long roll, it’s to die for! I’ve also had their waterice many, many times… the super pineapple and super peach are amazing!

Maybe it was because I got my sandwich during the bike race, but it was just completely underwhelming. Understuffed and overpriced breakfast sandwiches on a soft, boring roll. Don’t see what all the hype is about. Haven’t had the water ice but told it’s underwhelming.

My kids and I love their water ice! The prices are good and the staff is very friendly. We actually prefer Rose’s over Rita’s.

Yum! If you want authentic Philly water ice, this is the place to go! They always have the best flavors like strawberry lemonade and very pineapple. Or if you like tradition, try cherry and chocolate… Together! Their staff is friendly and they have great prices with generous portions. I’ve heard their breakfast sandwiches are awesome too but I have yet to try one. A summer must try!

I love coming here for water ice and the occasional breakfast sandwich. It’s great to support local businesses! Love mixing lemon and cherry water ice and there is always quite a few flavors to choose from. Prices are cheap too. Love their breakfast sandwich too. If in the area you have to check out this place.

Horrible customer service. Do not try and inconvenience these guys with paying with your card. It is absolutely way to hard to swipe a card on their shitty phone. Possibly a front for the mafia. Good sandwiches tho

Joe makes the most awseome breakfast sandwiches around! The pork roll is the best I’ve had anywhere — sliced perfectly thin. The great eats are always accompanied by service with a smile. If you have never been there, get there tomorrow morning for a sandwich! Oh by the way, don’t try to order something that isnt on the menu; it just doesn’t work that way. :-)

First time there today — went for breakfast and made it there just in time ! I called to see what time they closed. 11am(on Wednesday) They had sandwiches ready and even though our walk there took longer than expected.(We arrived a little after 11) The man working there was very kind ! Sandwiches were so good ! Hot & fresh! Definitely going back !

Anyone skeptical about the $ 5 you pay for a breakfast sandwich need to come down and watch it being made lovingly by the owner. You taste that love in between your fresh roll. I even like the old school butch paper with the foil inside, it keeps your sandwich hot but you can grab it just fine and there’s no spills. I second their awesome pork roll, thin sliced like it should be.

Rose’s has good water ice, but you should really go there for their breakfast sandwiches! They make THEBEST pork roll, egg, and cheese. If you call them to place an order when you walk out your door, it’s ready by the time you pull up. I recommend it for anyone in the area who wants a quick breakfast. The owner is a really nice guy. He remembers regulars and their orders, is efficient, and is always friendly. Also check out Rose’s for dollar dog night!

Water ice, schmater ice — come here for the breakfast sandwiches! At first, you may be reluctant to fork over your $ 5 bill for one sandwich, but trust me when I say that when you unwrap that steaming hot beauty on a perfectly soft roll, it’s totally worth it. They are DELICIOUS and always hit the spot! We’re a scrapple-egg-and-cheese-on-a-long-roll family, sometimes splitting one sandwich, or, depending on level of hangover, greedily scarfing one down per person. In the summers, they have plastic tables and chairs outside. It’s kind of a Roxborough institution with local owners and friendly local folks who work there, so it’s got a great homey Philadelphia atmosphere. Call ahead to order your sandwiches if you don’t feel like watching/waiting while they make them to order.

8 or 9 years ago I had an apartment directly across the street from the window and bench that are Rose’s Water Ice. I remember those summers as paradise– I would ride my bike the 3 ½ miles uphill home from work and at the end would be the glorious reward of a large Rose’s lemon or vanilla water ice. Perhaps the best thing about Rose’s, however, was that they added year-round breakfast sandwiches and hot sausage. This meant, on lazy weekend mornings, I could basically roll out of bed and have a bacon egg and cheese almost instantly. It’s 8 or 9 years later and, though I no longer live across the street, I still swing through for my own version of the hair of the dog, and still find myself counting down the days til summer and water ice… A large bacon/sausage, egg and cheese is $ 5– a little steep, but the rolls are fresh and if you stand at the window you get to watch the guy cook it. Look at as the price of admission. If you like your eggs scrambled make sure to ask for it that way, otherwise you’ll get them hard fried. They also offer sandwiches on bagels. During the off-seasons they don’t always have soft pretzels, but once Memorial Day rolls around they carry them regularly(though they rarely last all day). If you swing through early enough, you can also snag an Inquirer and/or the Daily News. It’s on street parking, but(knock wood) I am usually able to cruise up and park right in front of the place(gotta admit, however, I’ve never tried it before 10 am)… The water ice is homemade on the premises and they throw in random flavors occasionally to supplement the standards. They also used to have a little yellow and green jeep that drove around manayunk selling lemon, cherry, and random flavor x out of the back every day. i don’t live or work anywhere that I used to see him anymore, so I can’t say for sure if they still do it, but I hope so. I used to work at a playground in MYK, and my favorite thing of a night was when the Rose’s truck would cruise by. WE got Mr Softee and Jack & Jill all the time, but i’ve always been awater ice girl… Rose’s is a neighborhood staple, and deservedly so. There are plenty of mornings when it can be a real lifesaver and there are tons of summer days when it’s one of the best ways to survive the heat.

Best water ice, ever. A few friends and I paid a visit last summer after a bike ride from center city. We each ordered our large flavors of choice, sat at their cheap plastic table on the sidewalk, and upon finishing each of our delights, we each(all four of us) went back to the window to order a second helping. Good lord, that custard is like sweet cold whipped butter, I would eat it by the gallon if I could. Haven’t tried the breakfast sandwiches, but have only heard great reviews.
