Prove It!

Prove It! is a testing service that provides online technical tests for various disciplines. Never *ever* attempt to use this service. They are so incompetent that they can’t even ask the questions correctly! There are numerous typos in the example code and questions that makes it *impossible* to answer many of them correctly.
I took the Ruby 1.8 test, and in *multiple* places there is code that will not run, due to typos or incompetence, that you are expected to answer as if it were valid. If they can’t spend literally two seconds to copy and paste their test code into a Ruby interpreter to see if it even compiles or runs, how in the world can they be trusted to even know the correct answers to their own questions?
You end up having to guess what the questioner really was trying to ask. Imagine seeing a question like this:
Q. 2 + 2 = ?
A. 7
B. 3.6
C. –4
D. All of the above
Now you have to guess… is the –4 a typo for 4? Is the 3.6 correct because it’s the closest to 4? Should «All of the above» actually be «None of the above», but the question writer was too distracted to notice? Or was the question itself wrong, and the guy meant to write «2 + 5» instead of «2 + 2»? There’s simply no possible way to answer this correctly without guessing. That is exactly analogous to many of the questions in the test I took.
Stay away from these people, they are incompetent charlatans, and you simply cannot trust the results of their tests. If you are basing your hiring decisions on the results of these tests, there is a very good chance you are missing out on the really good candidates who will throw their hands up in frustration after they see so many completely impossible to answer questions.
(FYI, just so you know I’m not simply writing this review due to bitterness about my own personal score. In fact, I was told I scored higher on this test than anyone else so far… I’m not upset about my score, I’m upset that these idiots have the audacity to judge people when they can’t get it right themselves.)
