This place is delicious! I love the phở here, and the servers are nice too :)

We went here last week and really enjoyed it. My daughter go phở, husband got the curry and I got vermicelli bowl. Mine was better than my husbands. I tried some phở, that was good too. I liked how updated and clean the restaurant seemed. One less star because the waitress wasn’t as friendly as she should have been. We will definitely be back when we are in the area. Petaluma has better restaurants than southern Marin, imo.

Made it in for dinner last week. Food was all around delicious again. I ordered their Lemongrass Chili Chicken which was super tender, very flavorful, but on FIRE! I would definitely only recommend it to people that love spicy food! Service was decent. I wouldn’t say the best, but also not terrible either. Decent beer selection on tap. I will be visiting again!

Great place to get some Vietnamese food in Petaluma. A bit more expensive than most other Vietnamese restaurants I’ve been to.

Lunch today was R3, chicken with rice and salad this lunch was enormous and could probably have served two people, but it was so good I ate it all. I’ve been to this restaurant probably 15 to 20 times & tried to order a different meal each time. I’ve never been disappointed.

Excellent food and great service! Warm and welcoming staff who are attentive and helpful without being overwhelming. My wife and I shared the Combination Phở and Tofu Curry with Noodles… Yummy and generous portions! We left feeling happy, but not bloated! Will be back to try some of their other goodies!

I LOVE coming here on weekdays for their $ 5 phở during happy hour(3−5pm)! The beef phở is my usual and it’s pretty tasty. The regular size is plenty for me. Also it’s good to note the chicken phở has a different broth than the beef one does(but the beef remains my favorite)! :) Their vietnamese coffee(whether hot or iced) is delicioussss. And their thai iced tea is refreshing also! They’ll give you a plastic to-go cup if you haven’t finished it yet which is so great. Also in terms of atmosphere, it’s usually not incredibly busy but still draws a steady reign of customers. There’s a fish tank which is kept nicely(unlike some restaurants with a sad or dirty tank haha). Overall this is one of my favorite places in Petaluma! I recommend it to my friends especially M-F from 3−5pm :)

I’ve come here a couple of times and I’ve always thought their food was decent. They are overpriced in my opinion(compared to other phở restaurants in the area) and the service is so slow. It always takes such a long time(between 15 – 20 minutes) for our appetizers to come out, and then an additional extra 15 – 20 minutes for our entrees to come, even when they aren’t busy! However, last night I tried ordering to-go and had such a horrible experience. First off, I tried calling in my order and got a busy tone on the phone. Okay, that’s fine. I tried calling back around 10 minutes later and still got the busy tone. So by now, I thought they were just having a really busy night. Tried calling back and someone answered and put me on hold. Close to 10 minutes of waiting on the phone, I finally just hung up because I have obviously been forgotten. I tried calling again, and got the damn busy tone again! My family really wanted to eat here, so I decided to just drive there and order in store. I got there and they were indeed busy. I went up to the counter and ordered my meal, two pork chop with rice and one order of egg rolls, a very simple order. I noticed that there were 2 people behind me in line that also wanted to order to-go. When I walked in 15 – 20 minutes later to pick up my order, I notice another 2 people in front of me trying to order to-go. I don’t think they’ve noticed that their phone is not working! So I drive home with my order and realize that they did not pack my egg rolls, just the two entrees, despite the person asking me if I want extra sauce for my egg rolls. By this time, it’s close to 8pm and pouring rain outside and I just really want to eat my dinner with my family! I tried calling them to tell them I was missing an item from my order and to see if I can go pick it up, but surprise surprise, a busy tone again on their phone!!! By this time, I’m really pissed off. I drive back with my sister and when we walk in, the waitress asks if we were missing egg rolls from our order and I say yes. She hands me my egg rolls and I tell her that my phone calls have not been going through for at least the past hour. She reaches for both the phones, and says«that’s weird, they seem to be working.» Now here is the part that really made me angry. Both my sister and I see her push a button on the phone(the call end button) and the waitress says that the phones should be working. She asks me to call the restaurant, which I do, and the phone rings despite me calling around 5 minutes ago when the phone call did not go through(I live close to the center, a 2 – 3 minute drive from my house). My sister and I are both clearly pissed off and annoyed at this point as she clearly LIED to us and was not discreet about it at all!!! She offers us free drinks, but by this time we just wanted to go home so we said no and left. We finally return home and we sit down to eat. My sister cuts into her pork chops and we see that it is raw and undercooked on the inside, which is inedible and very unsanitary(photo attached). We are so annoyed/angry/fed up at this point! My sister calls back(phone call went through!) very angry and basically explains the situation, about how we were just there to pick up our egg rolls and how we don’t want to return back to the restaurant, especially in pouring rain. We just wanted to eat our dinner! We weren’t really expecting them to do anything and we more or less just wanted to explain to them how unacceptable this whole situation was. The person we talked to refunded the dish to my credit card. My sister ended up just heating the pork chops in the toaster oven for a while until they cooked through and we didn’t even start eating until 9pm, close to two hours after we initially tried to call in our to-go order. I understand that mistakes happen at restaurants. I wasn’t too angry about them forgetting my egg rolls because they were very busy and sometimes stuff like this happen. I didn’t like the fact that someone forgot that I was put on hold when I first tried calling in my order and the fact that they didn’t even notice or check their phone for over an hour! I had to tell them that their phone was giving out the busy tone when I went back the second time. This shows that they really aren’t paying much attention! It also pissed me off that I was very blatantly lied to when I tried explaining to them about the whole phone situation. More importantly, I don’t think there is ever ANY excuse for undercooked food if you work in the restaurant industry. If you work in a restaurant, then food quality and safety should ALWAYS be the number one priority! Overall, I probably won’t return here again. Before this incident, I mostly came here out of convenience due to how close it is to where I live. There are other phở restaurants that have lower prices for the same or better quality food. The one star is for the waitress, who was very apologetic

I come here every once in awhile. It is different from the other Vietnamese restaurant Thang Long across the street. Simmer’s phở is okay, it lacks a bit of flavor if you’re a real phở lover or Vietnamese you tell a difference. The noodle dishes are good. But the price is kinda pricey. Customer service is good. The afternoon it gets busy but it’s a good place to eat to have lunch or dinner. Thumbs up for having another Vietnamese restaurant in Petaluma!

We just moved to the area and wanted to check it out. We went on a Saturday night and got there just before the place was totally packed. This was some of the best Phở broth I’ve tasted. My fiancé had the beef phở and I had the BBQ shrimp vermicelli which was also amazing and the gave me about 9HUGE prawns in my little bowl. The prices were very reasonable and the place was really cute as well. Can’t wait to go back!

As we arrived it was busy and the lady told us it would be a 10 min wait. when we were seated we asked the hostess if our daughter, who has severe nut allergies, could have food we had brought in from outside for her as she had a reaction to their food last time we were there, the lady said yes. When our server came we were told that a 7yr old girl cannot eat food from outside… really. story short they basically they kicked us out… to think we eat here at least 2 times a month… blows my mind.. and the owner herself spoke to my wife and didn’t even offer an apology… oh well she just lost some loyal customers… heading to Thang Long where it’s more authentic anyway and the staff/owner is waaaay more friendlier than these schmucks! Hopefully when one of your family members, Ms server and owner, has a disability and they get treated the same way you treated my family, remember this incident and tell yourselves that Karma does exist! Hope your business thrives. not!

The food is good. The pricing is average. The service is really… questionable. I come here often to eat with my mother and family. You would think after coming here often, they’d treat us a little nicer… not really. The food makes up for it… most of the time.

I hate to bad mouth a restaurant, I understand it’s business BUT there are a few things that ticked me off about this place. I was craving phở and beef wrapped onion, since the nearest best Vietnamese place is located in Santa Rosa, I decided to give Simmer another try due to its convenient location. I was disappointed the first couple of times I went there phở sucked a**, still tipped generously though but I thought maybe third time’s a charm. Well I thought wrong. First ordered iced Vietnamese coffee, they gave me a cup full of ice and the amount of the coffee filled barely halfway. Pretty sure it would’ve been a quarter if there were no cubes of ice in it. I asked politely why this $ 3+ Vietnamese coffee didn’t even fill the entire cup and the waitress said«you have to wait for the ice to melt.» I’m thinking b**** I’ve ordered plenty of Vietnamese coffees before and have never gotten that little amount of coffee for that price. So whatever, let that pass. Next order(to go orders) this is the reason I decided to write a review, I wasn’t going to but come on! Ordered phở with flank and meatballs regular size for $ 10(I think or $ 9?) Along with beef wrapped onion with noodles $ 15. Came home excited to eat my phở, opened up the ingredients box which consisted of 2 small meatballs cut in half, 6 flanks, a cup size of noodles and half a cup size of bean sprouts with a stalk of mint leaves, a stalk of cilantro and 4 pieces of sliced jalapeños. Very very disappointed but ate it anyway, mind you in other Vietnamese places that would be considered a size small but they really skimped out on the meat ugh… plus $ 7 bucks for a good phở regular size with lots of ingredients in it at other phở places. Beef wrapped onion had a mutha effin fly chilling in there. Its wings were even flapped open, not sure whether it was fried in with the beef or just died and fell in the container but regardless it’s gross. I uploaded a picture on here as proof. Sauce wasn’t even good either, put more fish sauce in it please! It’s so watered down… doma!(Vietnamese word, learned from bff) Man…WHY you gotta do this to me Simmer! Generous tipper and willing to keep giving you guys business. Obviously I won’t be coming anymore… and please check your waitresses. They’ve got attitude problems, there was one who was nice and she was Vietnamese, I don’t see her anymore though.

Came here for lunch with my coworkers who recommended this place. As being a SF foodie, I am very particular about my food. Point taken? Ok… so on the service and food. The hostess was very friendly and said we could sit where we wanted. Then our waiter came and walked us through the menu, and suggested the right dish to me. The food came pretty quick and hot. I got the tofu and vermicelli dish. Overall it was good, could have used less salt in the fried tofu, and easier on the garlic, with more veggies too boot. But overall good. There were a lot of other great options, like curry dishes. So when I am craving some Vietnamese food, I am sure to consider this place. Bottom line, must try if you are in the area and jonesing some good Vietnamese. Cheers!

For someone who’s not into noodle soups, their Phở is very good. If you’re like me and want a bit of spicy noodles without the broth, I highly suggest the lemongrass spicy chicken. I could eat this everyday. I will be back to try more of their dishes when I come back through Petaluma.

We went to Simmer because we wanted to try a new Vietnamese place. Being in Marin, we are very limited in the amount of authentic Asian restaurants around. I love phở. It is a comfort food of mine. We ordered the spring rolls which came in four pieces, small-medium sized pieces. Decent flavor. Average. I ordered the combo phở with everything in it. Pieces of meat were average in amount and size. Broth was not as flavorful as other places I’ve been to. The noodles were ok. Texture was almost too soft. I like them a little more chewy personally… Bummer. My fiancé ordered the chili curry chicken. This was delicious. Such intense curry flavors — you could taste the cumin, turmeric and chili. It wasn’t a watery curry, and it wasn’t too thick. The consistency was right. This was something to come back for. I give three and a half stars because phở is a staple and this is a dish you expect to be consistent.
