Went here twice within the past month and had both a 4 star and 2.5 star experience– I suppose your dining rating is dependent on the night of the week, and who is working. First experience was a Saturday night, 6pm and had a wonderful waitress, sat in a corner by the front door(no draft thankfully) and the food was spectacular! Calamari, salmon entrée and ying & yang roll, in addition to the Triple L cocktail and 2 pomegranate martinis. Of course the price point of this restaurant is rather high. The price of calamari for the portion was very shocking– I think an extra handful would have been appropriate, OR knock it down a few dollars. I thought the sushi roll was amazing and the different flavors along with the incorporation of beef worked so much better than I would have imagined. Salmon perfectly cooked and rice was tasty AF! This evening was a solid 4 stars. Spring ahead a few weeks and I go again on a Thursday evening at 9pm– we have an hour before the kitchen closes so we know to get an order in asap. The hostess this evening was extremely curt and could not even crack a smile. She sat us at an uncomfortable two top even though the ENTIRE area next to the sushi bar/front window was empty spare one other couple… We moved to the four top right next to us. Waitress was sweet and didn’t overwhelm us asking how we were doing every 5 minutes which I greatly appreciate. We order a basket of fries, ying & yang roll [again] and the gulf shrimp roll w mango. Food arrives very quickly and uh –oh… what’s going on with these sushi rolls??? My dude and I both popped a piece and then looked at eat other, strangely… Something was a little off. Both the mango and avo in the shrimp roll were far from being ripe– they both needed another week bc they were SODENSE to bite into, it was unappetizing. The ying & yang roll was lacking the zest of flavors that I had the first night which was super disappointing– not terrible though. But the worst part was the band that was SOFREAKINGLOUD. I get it, its a band evening, live music is loud but holy crap, normally I can still hear myself chew and by the time they finished, my ears were ringing. Acoustics in here need to be dampened before someone blows a hearing aid. I want to like this place more but the price throws me off. It’s not something I could come to more often since I don’t feel like dropping $ 100 for two sushi rolls and 4 drinks. I will give it another try as the third time is my deal breaker on final ratings. But seriously though, I hope the manager hires people who can actually smile and not give the stink eye to customers the minute they walk in the door.

Met some friends for dinner who have been there previously. The nachos were out of this world. I had the tuna and salmon tartare appetizer which was my favorite part of the meal. My pasta dish was great but moms is still the best. The atmosphere was great and towards the end of the meal they had a great live band. The prices were reasonable and the waitress and staff were very attentive. I recommend this place to everyone.

We love the Hudson Room. Great ambiance and a busy bar. But you can ask for a table away from the bar. There is often live music that starts about 9pm but you can avoid or enjoy by timing your reservation.(Also love that they take reservations, even for 2) Husband loves the salmon and I love the veal cutlet with arugula salad on top. The BEST! This past Friday he had the rib eye… celebrating his birthday. A bit pricey($ 48) but large and delicious! Oh, and did I mention they have great drinks too! And a sushi bar if you’re so inclined.

Their food is ONPOINT! I work next door and normally pop in for a cocktail and a quick bite to eat. They have a great bar selection and at times it’s difficult to get a seat because it can get busy in there. That’s a good omen! What do I get when I’m there? Definitely try the ying yang roll! It’s amazing! Lobster and filet mignon in a roll with brown rice. Yum! Last time I was there, I had the short rib. It will melt in your mouth. So much flavor and a healthy portion. Thumbs up to Hudson Room and their friendly staff!

I swore that I was not even going to waste my time writing a review considering the waste of time and money spent at the Hudson Room tonight. I know that sounds harsh and I frankly am sorry for having to say it but it is the truth. This is my second time here. First time was a while ago when Hudson Room first opened. My impression this time around is this… the portions are smaller, the service is slower, and the menu descriptions belie the reality of the dish as served. By way of example, the fried calamari appetizer was barely enough for one let alone a dish that you would expect to share with the table(we were 4). The water boy was very attentive, but the server — not so much. Go figure, it was a quiet Sunday evening. The chicken panko sandwich was served on a bun that I am willing to bet was purchased at Shop Rite supermarket. Infuriating. I use those buns in a pinch when I serve burgers ATHOME. The chef should be embarrassed. I am when I have to resort to using them and I don’t charge for my guests for their meals. I don’t want to pile on. Maybe it was just a bad day, for me or them, who knows. Hudson Room won’t be first on my consideration list the next time I go out, but I’d imagine I will give it another go if one of my friends wishes to. I will leave you with this… stick with the sushi. #thatisall

Very good. The pork nachos were tasty and the ultimate comfort food. I had the special: skirt steak, huge portion, nicely grilled and cooked to order. sides were just okay. My friend was pleased with the salmon.

Go for the live music and drinks. Don’t go for the food. I have friends who think the food is fantastic, I simply disagree. I’ve eaten here twice and been thoroughly underwhelmed. It’s still a great place, I would just have dinner elsewhere then come for the music.

The american cuisine is alright, some dishes are better than others. Chicken wings not-so-good. Burger, eh. The service is extremely hit or miss, we’ve both had great and terrible experiences The sushi is by far the best thing about Hudson Room, though it feels stifled by the other half of the restaurant. It would make more sense to give the sushi side its own restaurant and allow the menu to expand. The fish and sushi chef are the best we’ve had out of the city. It’s time for more ethnic food in Peekskill, a sushi restaurant of that quality would make a killing.

Ate here last night to celebrate a great friend’s B-day! It was the dinner stop before going to the Paramount to see Artie Lang(he wasn’t quite as good as the two warm-up comedians) See you get a tofer review here ;-) The apps were good, sashimi appetizer tasted fresh, the calamari was a skimpy portion(hey! it’s bait not that costly) the salad was just okay. Now to the entrees. Both our friends had salmon and they said it was fine, wife had a fish dish and she said A-ok. I had the special lamb shank, it was a fair sized lamb shank served over mashed(I’ll ask for the mashed on the side next time) and veggies. Considering the venue a bit over priced, but I dislike to complain about price so hey! The service was attentive and perfectly fine, got plenty of water, drinks always stayed full, I’d go back if going to the Paramount again, not a trip just for the grub.

This was my second — and last — visit to this restaurant. After ordering sashimi and specifically asking for gluten free soya sauce, I was served a shrimp dish containing crackers. Not a huge deal. I called the server over and politely explained I had a food allergy and couldn’t eat the dish. She apologized and I told her to not worry about it. Fine, right? Wrong. Along comes the bonehead manager who interrupts my date and asks if there’s a problem. I tell him no. He insists on knowing what happened. I told him no big deal, I’m fine, innocent mistake. He then insists on details asking if I specifically told the server I had a food allergy. This unprofessional, bonehead is interrupting my dinner so he can lay blame? I told him it was fine, he persists, so I tell him to walk away and leave me alone. Unreal! I have never in my life encountered such an unprofessional, intrusive, ignorant restaurant manager in my life. We left immediately after I gave our lovely server a healthy tip. We would have gladly spent another hour drinking and enjoying the live music if it hadn’t been for the awful behaviour of that incompetent manager. I was left incredibly uncomfortable and feeling as if I had done something wrong. When a customer says there’s no problem, don’t create one. It’s that simple. I’ll avoid this place at all costs until it’s under the management of a capable person. Plenty of other establishments I can dine at that take the time to properly train management.

our Sunday find took us to Lake Welch while there we searched for nearby restos, unfortunately, not much came up besides Subway and some local pizza joints. not exactly what we had in mind so he dug a little deeper and found this sweet place! I was hooked by the menu options and loved it all! I had their Sun-Wed pre-fixe option, started with the salmon & tuna tartare followed by the linguine shrimp pasta, all so well done! presentation, taste, portion and service! The glass of Maipe Malbec and the espresso-carmel ice cream with chocolate fudge cake was the happiest ending!(10.4.15;6p)

Ying and yang roll is amazing! Like stepping into a Manhattan eatery when you walk in here. Been many times, food is always top notch and again tonight I was not disappointed. Server, host, and manager were all first class professionals. …don’t miss the Hudson Room!

Fantastic dinner with associates. The menu is broad. They have a full sushi menu and sushi bar. They have a good appetizer menu, sandwiches, as well as steaks and other nice meals. The menu ranges from expensive to mid range. They also have craft beers and full bar. I didn’t stick aroun, but they were also providing live music with a big band and swing night. Great place, a bit on the pricey side, but nice quality and good service.

I held off on reviewing this place, because I went right after they opened and I wanted to give them time to work some of the very large kinks in the operation. I went back last night, and I can honestly say that this has become one of the best places in town. The Hudson Room is an odd mashup of ideas that almost shouldn’t work, but come together beautifully. Let’s break this down into it’s individual pieces: The room– Peekskill restaurants tend to be built in repurposed buildings, and The Hudson Room is no exception. While this gives them all a great character, most can tend to feel cramped. The Hudson Room features high ceilings and an open floor plan, focused on creating good lines of sight to the stage. The high, semicircular booths offer a little privacy, creating intimacy in the middle of a large space. The drinks– Yes, there’s a price to be paid for a well made drink, and the place isn’t cheap, but the only bar in town that can compete with The Hudson Room for the title of «best mixology bar» would be Gleason’s, down the street. The martinis here deserve special recognition. The sushi– I had the Hamachi roll and the Spicy Tuna Roll, both were outstanding. You’re also given the choice of white or brown rice for each roll. The entrees– I didn’t partake, but my table mates were raving about the salmon One more odd thing, The Hudson Room isn’t a sports bar. In fact, there are no sports bars in Peekskill. The Hudson Room does feature a large(very large) TV behind the bar, making it possibly the best place to catch a game, so long as you don’t need the sound piped in through the speakers.

Hands down, one of the best all-around dining experiences I’ve ever had in Westchester. The service, ambience, food, drinks, and dessert were all top notch. Friendly and prompt service. Fun and lively dining area with a stage for live music as the backdrop(we left just before festivities began). Delicious apps(super fresh calamari and sushi), strong but creative drinks, fantastic entrees(I was literally fellating the rib of the bone-in NY strip after I was done with it), and the triple cheesecake dessert was artery-clogging greatness. I highly recommend this fantastic venue, and will be back very soon!

My husband and I went for the first time last night to celebrate our anniversary. The ranger game was on– and I almost suggested we leave. Im so glad we didn’t. The menu was outstanding — drinks to food was all crafted amazingly. I had trouble deciding what to order. I settled on a jalapeño margarita and a chicken sandwich. We shared hummus and salsa — this is my only dislike. The salsa was just a heavy tomato sauce. My husband ordered a deconstructed piña coloda and a orichette chicken dish. They were both ridiculously good. My drink in particular was outstanding — spicy and sweet topped with a fresh jalapeño and a blackberry. To my great surprise– I didn’t have to suffer through the ranger game all night but an amazing blues band started to play shortly after our drinks arrived. It was a perfect evening to celebrate our anniversary and it was definitely a restaurant we will go back too. I’m already looking forward to their swing night planned for next week.

Very happy to have The Hudson Room join Peekskill. I took my 10 year old girls for an early dinner because one loves sushi and it’s hard to get decent sushi in the area. We called for a reservation which wasn’t needed at that time, but the phone call was very pleasant. We were greeted nicely and seated in large banquette seating which was nice for us – I got to sit with one on either side of me. We ordered sodas — I ordered the organic root beer but got the Mexican cola(not a big problem, I didn’t mention it, I may have confused them). We ordered the soup of the day, which the waiter couldn’t remember the name of but described. I ordered it. It was like a tortilla pulled pork soup or maybe a pork and hominy stew(it had hominy and tortillas). It was very good. But I’d say a little pricey at $ 10. One of my girls had the mac n cheese(of course right!) off the kids menu and she liked it but didn’t like the bacon they used(of course not, it’s nitrate free) but this was a good deal at $ 10 including drink and a scoop of their homemade ice cream(more on that). The other is my sushi lover but she doesn’t eat much. Spicy tuna roll is her game. Again a little pricey at $ 12, but delicious! Spicier than your average. Now, I assumed my sushi lover might assist me so I went gung ho with my sushi order and ordered a sushi combo that was simply three pieces of tuna, three yellowtail(hamachi), and three pieces of salmon for $ 23AND a Dragon Fire Roll(Broiled eel, roasted poblano peppers, cucumber topped with avocado and Nitsume eel sauce) for an addition $ 12. Let me just say — it was soooooo fresh and beautiful and delicious. A+, Hudson Room. Best sushi for miles and miles. Then for dessert we each had a scoop of their homemade ice cream. One had a vanilla with lemon curd ribbon(yum!), another had Almond Joy(double yum!) and I had the cinnamon vanilla. All very good! It was salsa night and I bet it was fun. Great room. Great food. Nice staff(okay maybe a little slow at times but okay, and always polite). A very nice experience. Will definitely be back.

My fiancé had been telling that she’s been wanting to go here for a while so tonight was the night. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Although there was no live music tonight they do have different acts on weekends that if I ever get a weekend night off I’ll have to come back and see. On to the part of my review y’all are waiting for… lol. The food… While they have a very enticing menu, the also offer a pre fix menu Sunday through Thursday which is a great opportunity to taste 3 dishes for a great price $ 30. 1st course… my fiancè had the soup of the day which was a silly smooth sweet potato soup. I ordered the crispy calamari, which I’m glad to say was tender and delicious! 2nd course… my fiancè had the linguini in a basil oil, pesto and shrimp. I ordered the grilled sliced bavette steak with cheddar mash potatoes and crispy onions. Steak was perfectly cooked, overall dish was delicious! 3rd course… dessert didn’t fail to impress. Their cronut was delicious and their housemade ice cream as well. A big thanks to Alex our server. She was polite professional and kind! And a job well done to the chef for putting together a great menu! Looking forward to our next visit!

My first trip in with a small group. When we arrived the place was PACKED — as the Paramount Theater around the corner was hosting a concert for a popular musician. Fortunately, our reservation was the same as the show time, so the crowd thinned before we began our meal. First impressions are great — a trendy and cool space — really one large«room» with a bar(and TV) to the left, a sushi bar off to the right and a big stage and a pink grand piano at the rear of the room. The hostess was terrific on the phone and I was greeted with great enthusiasm — a wonderful start. The acoustics are rough, and they are working on improving this aspect — a big group will not be able to hear end-to-end on a busy night. Service was good throughout our stay — water glasses remained filled, wine poured, and food came and was cleared efficiently. Periodic visits by Daniel to fill in the background on the company behind this restaurant, and planned future Peekskill locations added another dimension. So here is your scoop — COMINGSOON, think riverfront —(1) a taco and tequileria with a roof deck, a(2) smoky steakhouse themed restaurant in a current unoccupied space, and(3) a barbeque themed restaurant in an unnamed location. The folks behind Hudson Room and the Peekskill makeover(The Hudson Hospitality Group) are experienced restaurateurs — off to a great start here! See more about the future plans at: On to the food. We shared the wings — tasty but not memorable, and a Ying-Yang sushi roll. This roll, with tempura shrimp, wrapped in brown rice, topped seared rare beef and a bit of sauce on top was simply AMAZING — as my friend pointed out«a comeback dish» — this alone is worth coming back for. Our other entrees included a delicious pasta, a great burger, and a terrific pork chop. Really looking forward to working my way through the menu! Note — the wine list(see posted pic) is limited, but serviceable. Corkage is $ 25.
