Description

Specialties

At P2P, we use force free training methods and reward based training techniques rooted in the latest scientific research to train dogs. We believe that fostering a strong and healthy bond between owners and their dogs lies at the very heart of any successful training program. We believe all dogs can learn. However, just like for us humans, one size does NOT fit all! We creatively tailor our instruction to meet individual needs and learning styles, both canine and human. We offer education that is fun with the goal of creating life-long learners. We are passionate about what we do. We teach puppies and older dogs, too. We teach kids and grown-ups, too how to best «be» with dogs. We strive to solve problem behaviors to help keep dogs out of shelters and in their human families.

History

Established in 2012.

Ann’s journey toward becoming a dog trainer began when she lost her best friend, White GSD, Cody prematurely to cancer in April, 2009. Through a series of events following this, Ann found herself on the path leading to becoming a dog trainer. The catalyst for heading down this path, was the adoption of an 8 week old GSD mix in June, 2009. Ann realized soon that she was way in over her head. She sought professional help immediately and was determined to not fail her new puppy, Jasper, who is now 6.5 years old. Jasper became Ann’s greatest teacher. Then, in the summer of 2010, while volunteering daily at Dekalb Animal Services, a second GSD mix entered Ann’s life. Libby came home with separation issues and a high desire to be busy all the time. From working with her own dogs, Ann’s path led to apprenticeship, graduation from CATCH Canine Trainers Academy, the founding of P2P Dog Training, and finally to becoming a CCPDT Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA).
