Meegan Kennels

We have taken two generations of dogs to Meegan Kennels over the years. We have found Deb and her staff to be professional and loving. Our pets are always happy to be there and seem well taken care of when we pick them up.

Meegan kennel cares about people’s pets ! They take very good care of our pets, they make sure the pet is happy, eating and doing well. The pets gets extra attention if needed and the facility is spotless.

My dog, a 60lb golden doodle, was placed in Meegan Kennels on May 31^st through June 9 of 2014. The owner, Deb, was very courteous while I got him scheduled for his stay and her staff was nice when I dropped Toby off. I left Deb with my cell phone number, my husband’s cell phone number, my mom’s cell phone number, and also my email address. I never received any calls from Deb during my vacation. I arrived to pick him up on the morning of June 9^th, and he was limping and had a wound on the front of his leg where he’d been biting at it. Deb told me that he had been limping on his leg since the previous Wednesday, June 4^th. So, allow me to reiterate. My dog had been limping for 5 days and not once had I received a phone call to inform me or ask me if I would like to have him seen by a vet. Deb stated that she thought it might be a touch of arthritis or something like that so they’d gotten him a cot to sleep on in his kennel. While that was nice of them, cots don’t help broken legs. Yes, a visit to the vet (Westerville East VCA if you’d like to call and verify) later that same day revealed that his leg was broken. His radius was cracked in the middle which by the vet’s best estimation happened by either getting caught in something (like his fenced enclosure) or being stepped on. She also assured me that it most definitely happened while he was in the care of Meegan Kennels based on the lack of healing shown in the X-​ray. Please understand, I don’t think that anyone at Meegan Kennel set out to hurt my dog. I don’t think that my dog was abused in a deliberate manner. I do, however, know that my dog was injured with a broken leg for five days and nobody at Meegan Kennels did anything to help him, and that infuriates me. I am angry for my dog, and I am angry for any other dogs that might enter that facility and not get the care that they deserve. It is now August 18. Toby had a vet appt today, and the X-​rays revealed that the bone hasnt completely fused back together. He’ll be in his cast for at least another three weeks for a grand total of 13 weeks. It has been a huge ordeal for our family. Deb did pay for Toby’s first two vet visits at my request. In the end, I would most certainly not recommend Meegan Kennels.
* In response to Deb:
1. The vet visit was not the next day, it was one hour after we left your facility as it was extremely obvious that Toby was injured. You might want to tell your vet tech to consider an alternate profession.
2. I’m glad your policy has changed, and that you now call owners regardless of severity. Especially if you don’t consider broken legs severe.
3. It was very kind of you to cover $ 800 of Toby’s vet bills, but I’m not sure you can put a price on 5 days of pain and suffering in a strange place.
4. Toby finally got his cast off on Sept 22, 2014. Three and a half months in a cast for what you called a minor fracture. He had to have his bandages changed every two weeks and multiple X-​rays to monitor healing. My bills were around $ 4000.
5. No, I definitely did not return your one call to check on Toby. As you didn’t care enough to call and inform me that he was limping for five days, I didn’t assume your concern was genuine. I suppose I could have called you and had a facetious conversation where you pretended to care and I pretended to be civil toward you, but… why? We both know that all you wanted was a signed document stating that I was not going to pursue any action beyond the $ 800. I signed and returned that and never heard from you after that. Perfectly fine with me.
6. I’m sure Meegan Kennels is all that and a bag of chips and that Unilocal is «suppressing» the hordes of good reviews. Interestingly, there were no reviews whatsoever when I posted mine. In the meantime I would not recommend your kennel if you paid me to do so.
